The prayer
Written prayerFather, these women were concerned how they would roll the stone away to enter the sepulchre where Jesus was laid. They knew the mouth to the tomb had been closed and they didn’t know if they would be able to get in. They wanted to make sure the body of their beloved master was properly anointed with herbs and spices and prepared for burial. It didn’t occur to them that he would not be there. It didn’t cross their mind that he might have risen as he said he would. They were focused on what they saw and not what Jesus had said. They saw their Lord, crucified and with him all the hopes and promises they believed in. Yet, in your tenderness you allowed these women to be the first to witness your resurrection. They came and their concerns were allayed when they saw the stone was removed. Oh, ye of little faith. Strengthen my faith Lord and keep my eyes on your words. When I follow the leading of your Holy Spirit, as I believe these women did, you will go before me and clear the obstacles away. Whatever my human concerns are that might hold me back will be taken care of as I move forward in obedience. In Jesus name, amen.
