Global Prayer on Job 5:6

Although affliction cometh not forth of the dust, neither doth trouble spring out of the ground;

Job 5:6 · KJV

Today’s prayer

Written prayer

Lord, this is an interesting verse. As I meditate on its meaning I realize that trouble doesn’t just spring up out of nothing. It’s not just a random act out of nowhere. When I worry about something I am planting doubt in your ability to deliver me from whatever the circumstances are that I am worrying about. That doubt causes me to become fearful, and fear is not of God. Oftentimes fear will cause me to make wrong choices and decisions. It’s at those times when I think I have to do something instead of wait on you to intervene. That’s when it’s easy to take my life into my own hands to try and alleviate the problem. Through this process I am creating a negative spiral that brings depression, frustration, and more worry. In order to stop this process I have to take a deep breath and trust in your goodness. I have to choose, by faith, to surrender my problem to you and believe you will take care of it or show me what to do to resolve it. I need to quiet my spirit so I can listen for your still small voice. I can’t hear your wisdom when I am full of anxiety and worry. Help me Lord, to rest in you. Strengthen my faith to trust and believe you will make a way for me even when I don’t see one. In Jesus name, amen.
