Today’s prayer
Written prayerFather, open my ears so I am ready when you call my name. Samuel didn’t know it was you who was calling him. He thought it was Eli but he finally learned to hear your voice. I long to hear your voice and say “here I am Lord, send me – use me to bring honor to your name.” My heart's desire is to serve you and hear your voice. There are so many loud, demanding voices that compete with your still small voice. I must learn to quiet my soul and tune out all the distractions that block the peace you bring when I rest in your presence. The more I open to your peace the easier it is to hear your tender whispers of love and assurance. You are my hiding place from the world's chaos, from the blaring news, the roaring traffic, the short tempers, and all the fear surrounding me. You lead me beside still waters and restore my soul so I can hear your wisdom and direction for my life. Help me be courageous and jump to attention when you call my name. I want to be a first responder to your voice so you can count on me to do your will, in Jesus name amen.
