Today’s prayer
Written prayerFather, how generous Elkanah was that when he came before you to offer his sacrifice he gave a portion of the meat to his wife and children so they too might have an offering to give you. What a good example he was for his family. He not only showed them how to honor you with a sacrificial offering, but also included them by giving them a portion so they could make their own offering to you. Let me never forget those who you have put in my care. Help me gently lead them into participating in all the wonderful opportunities you have given me to encounter you - praying, worshiping, serving others, or sacrificial offerings. I want to be a doer of your word and not a hearer only. I am to live your word not just read your word. Your anointing and strength fill me as I step out and participate in your word and invite others to join me as I follow your leading. We are all bound together in love and give each other strength. You don’t want me to only look out for myself but to be mindful of my brothers and sisters also. Let me encourage others today and lift up all those around me, in Jesus, name Amen.
