Global Prayer on 1 Samuel 1:7

And as he did so year by year, when she went up to the house of the LORD, so she provoked her; therefore she wept, and did not eat.

Today’s prayer

Written prayer

Lord, let me not provoke others out of my jealous rivalry. Elkanah had pity on Hannah because she was childless and he gave her a double gift to show her his love. While the mother of his children had the joy of their children, which was a sign of God’s favor. Forgive me for sometimes wanting what others have and not being content with my portion. I look at those with public ministries who sing, and preach or travel the world reaching the lost and I feel unimportant in comparison. I look at people who live in grand houses and wear beautiful clothes and I fall into despair and weep instead of being grateful for what I do have. I haven’t done anything others would consider significant with my life and I feel overlooked by you. I wonder if I will ever do anything noteworthy with my life like I see others doing. Help me be content where you have planted me and give me eyes to serve you in small ways that are just as important as some of the grander ministries. You know my heart and are purifying my fleshly desire for recognition and pride. Love is who you are and I pray you will reduce me to love, in Jesus name, amen.
