Today’s prayer
Written prayerJesus, my eyes fill with tears when I realize it was my sins, crimes, and disobediences that wounded you. You were battered and beaten because of my choice to follow my sin nature. You took the punishment I deserved instead of me. You substituted your life for mine so I could be restored to God and find peace. When they tore your back open with each sting of their whip, it was so I could be healed. Every humiliation and painful injustice you suffered was done on my behalf that I would not have to suffer as you did. You suffered in the flesh for the joy that was set before you. You loved me more than I will ever know. Thank you, Amen.
