Today’s prayer
Written prayerLord, in today's world I am surrounded by scantily clad voluptuous women in provocative poses or half naked men with muscular bodys designed to illicit lust for the fragrance they are advertising. Sex sells and it permiates society. It’s hard to watch TV or go to movies without being exposed to arousing images. Even just driving down the street there are larger than life billboards enticing all those who glance up as they pass by. Your word says that a man is not to look upon a woman to lust after her but neither are women to lust after men. It is getting harder and harder to avoid those images when society's morals continue to erode away. In order to resolve this problem Job made a covenant between himself and God not to look with lust at women. He made a covenant with his eyes to see women as God sees them rather than as sexual objects. Only God can keep the youth of today pure in a society that flaunts sexual norms as easily as going to burger king. Lord keep your men and women free from sexual impurity. Give them courage to overcome their passions and make a covenant with their eyes to avoid provocative images. Keep me pure Lord so the light in my eyes will reflect your love and not my lust. In Jesus name, amen.
