Today’s prayer
Written prayerFather, give me a heart of compassion for those in less fortunate circumstances than me. Give me a generous heart that I might provide for others and show hospitality to whomever it’s needed. If they are hungry, give me the provision to feed them. If their animals are thirsty let me include them as well. If they need clothes, let me offer them my coat. Don’t let me harden my heart to the needs around me. Don’t let me throw them a blessing like ‘peace brother” and do nothing to bring them comfort. Tenderize my heart to the plight of those who are homeless. When my neighbors are in need how can I let them sleep in the street? These are human beings that God created and are in need of shelter. How can I not respond to that need and provide shelter for them or support those who can provide shelter. I can’t bear to think of anyone living in that condition. Show me how I can provide for those in such desperate situations. I see them all around me –everyday and I pass them by, often ignoring their plight. Show me how to do my part, no matter how small, to provide assistance to those in need in Jesus name, Amen.
