The prayer
Written prayerDear Lord, You are calling me to return to you with all my heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning to rend my heart and not my clothing. I am returning to You Lord for you are gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love. You relent from punishing so I am not afraid to confess my sin and return to you! Lord, this can be the start of my return. It is a time to praise you and a time to tame my appetites for food, sex, drink, sleep or whatever I feel has too much of a hold on me. As I fast and pray, taking this time to focus on You, Lord, it is a time to strengthen my love for what you did for me, and increase my desire to know you in a deeper way. Dear Jesus, I rejoice that you love me so much that you wait, ever patiently, for me to turn and run back to you. Yet, during this time of fasting and prayer, at times I feel so broken and sorry for all that I have done that would displease you. I'm not sure I will ever be healed. Thank you, precious Lord, for receiving me back into your presence. I run to you now, returning to drink of your living water and be restored and refreshed in your presence, clean, and forgiven. Praise you dear Lord!
In Jesus name, Amen.
