Today’s prayer
Written prayerLord, you are the King of Kings and there is no one like you. You are my sovereign Lord and the only king I serve. I need no one else but you to rule over me. I don’t want anyone but you. You are my protector, provider, and the true lover of my soul. It hurts my heart that Israel wanted a king they could see to lead them instead of you. You did great things for them and they still wanted a human, fallible, king so they could be like the other nations. You called them to be a holy people - a people set apart, but they wanted to be like everyone else. Lord, you have called me to be part of your holy priesthood, not ordinary but extraordinary. You called me to be naturally supernatural – to be your reflection in this world and be your ambassador. You want to bestow honor and blessings on me as I serve you in love and obedience. Israel chose Saul to be their king and they desired a human leader to rule over them instead of the true God of Israel. I don’t put my faith in human leadership because they are imperfect and will often fail me. I pray for them to have your mind and to make godly decisions for the good of all the people so we might live in peace, in Jesus name, amen.
