Today’s prayer
Written prayerHeavenly father, you have called me to show tender affection toward my family in Christ. Jesus said you would know they are my disciples by the love they have for each other. We are to blend brotherly love with kind affection and seek not to be honoured but to show respect and honour to others. Lord, help me always promote the happiness of the Christian community. How different that is from the spirit of the world. The world seeks to be honored rather than to honor others and looks to be respected more than others. Teach me Lord to humble myself and rejoice in learning how to honor others. Love never fails and will reduce envy, and ambition, and the influences of the world. The more I learn to express love the more it will produce contentment, harmony, and order in the world. More brotherly love will reduce crime, and the evils of strife, and discord, and malice. Make me content Lord, and willing to occupy the place for which you have designed me. Help me rejoice when others are exalted to higher places of responsibility and honor. Keep my heart pure so I can trust in your timing that doors of opportunity will open for me as well. In Jesus name, amen.
