Today’s prayer
Written prayerFather, it’s interesting that these women were going to the tomb because they didn’t know what Pilate had done. Had they known that Pilate had set guards at the opening of the tomb and sealed the stone so no one could enter or steal the body away they may not have gone. They came after their Sabbath so they hadn’t heard what Pilate did. It never occurred to them that Jesus would have fulfilled his promise and risen to eternal Glory. If I listen to my rational mind I will often reason away your will for me. I have a need to know mentality. If I don’t understand what you are doing or it doesn’t make sense to me I might not follow through with what you put on my heart to do. Teach me to step out in faith and follow your leading. If I knew what you were doing it wouldn’t be faith. Faith is my trust in you and your goodness. Your ways are above my ways and I have to continually trust, by faith, the leading of your Holy Spirit. Keep me sensitive to your gentle whispers and don’t let me get caught up with my own need to know that might resist your will. In Jesus name, amen.
