Global Prayer on Joel 2:13

And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the Lord your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil.

Joel 2:13 · KJV

The prayer

Written prayer

Heavenly Father, thank you for your gracious compassion. You are slow to anger and abounding in love. It is your goodness that leads me to repentance. I rend my heart in sorrow for the pain and grief I have caused you and turn back to you, Lord. I realise that repentance is not just tearing my outward garments as an expression of sorrow and shame, but true repentance is a heart mourning with tears for the sins that lead them away from the one who truly loves them. I have torn myself away from the idols of vanity and from all their sinfulness. Father, circumcise the hardness of my heart with the scapple of your love and cover me with your grace. I am grateful for your great kindness when I humble myself in repentance before you. Your desire is to restore me and show me kindness and relent from sending the calamity I deserve. You are faithful to your word and restore all those who repent and come to you for deliverance. It is your desire that none should perish and you are eager to show mercy to those who will believe. I love you and rejoice in your goodness. In Jesus name, amen.
