Global Prayer on John 1:8

Heavenly father, I admire John’s humility. He was a radical prophet with unusual ways but you anointed him and sent him to accomplish your purposes. He had many followers that listened to him and came to repent of their sins and be baptised, but John always directed the crowds to the one who was coming after him. He made sure they knew he was not the great light that was coming. He was not the messiah. He was only the one who came to prepare the way of the Lord. Father, no matter what good works you do through me let me always give honor and acknowledgment to you. In myself I can do nothing, it is You, my Lord, flowing your life, power and words through me. You’re the one reaching out through me to touch the needs and hearts of others. I want to always remember to point them to you. Don’t let my flesh corrupt the purity of your Spirit with its pride. Help me be a bright light this Christmas so I can tell others that the light I have in my life is because of you. Give me words of encouragement to lead them to the Great light of salvation, my Lord and savior Jesus Christ. I pray these things in Your name, amen.
