Global Prayer on 1 John 4:20

If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?

1 John 4:20 · KJV

Today’s prayer

Written prayer

Lord Jesus, you are pure love. Your love is unconditional and everlasting. Your love is full of compassion and mercy and gentle kindness. Forgive me for my childish selfishness that judges others when they don’t meet my standard of righteousness. Forgive me for speaking against my brothers and sisters instead of loving and forgiving them. When I say I love you and yet I show hostility toward my brothers and sisters who I deem less worthy for whatever reasons, I’m lying. I am being deceived by my own self-righteousness. I think you call that spiritual arrogance and that is a disgrace to your name. Forgive me Jesus, for the times I have judged and been unloving to those I disagree with. Teach me to love like you Lord. I need your grace to show me how to rise above my hostile emotions and forgive those who anger me. You love them in spite of themselves. Teach me how to turn them over to you and trust that you will deal with them as only you can. Help me to continue to stay focused on what you are doing in my life to mold me into who you created me to be. In Jesus name, amen.
