Global Prayer on Acts 16:25

And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.

Acts 16:25 · KJV

Today’s prayer

Written prayer

Heavenly father, I am amazed at the faith that Paul and Silas exemplified when they were prisoners. Instead of complaining and feeling sorry for themselves they sang songs of praise to you and spent the night in devotions. Your word says we are to praise you in all things not necessarily for all things. You inhabit the praises of your people. When I am in distress and difficulty, help me to be like Paul and Silas and apply your word in the midst of my most terrible circumstances. They lifted their voice to extol your name and brought your presence into that prison. I can imagine the other prisoners who heard them singing praise songs in the middle of the night must have thought they were crazy. But I think those soothing songs of praise refreshed and comforted not only Paul and Silas but all those other prisoners as well.

Teach me to always praise you when I find myself challenged by life’s circumstances. Instead of being distracted by fear, and anxiety, let me lift up praises to your glorious name and draw your presence into my problems to bring your peace and comfort. As I focus on you you lift me up and give me wisdom. In Jesus name, amen.
