Today’s prayer
Written prayerLord, I chose to obey your voice and keep your covenant because I love you. I long to be your treasured possession and bring a smile to your face. Your word says that if I love you I will keep your commandments, and I do love you lord. Being obedient to your instructions is how I show you I love and trust you. This is what pleases you most about your children. This is what you desire as my heavenly father, to know that I chose to obey out of love not fear or obligation. I believe in your goodness and know that you love me, therefore it's easier to trust you when I don’t know what you are doing. The whole world belongs to you – you are the God of all creation and yet my obedience to your voice brings you pleasure. It brings joy to my heart to know that you are pleased with my obedience. My efforts to put you first and respond to your direction for my life delights you. My flesh puts up a fuss when I don’t understand where you are leading me. Your ways are higher than my ways and your ways look different than I expect. But as I trust you I feel the warmth of your smile on my life and the joy of your pleasure. Your perfect will for my life is where I long to be, in Jesus name, amen.
