Today’s prayer
Written prayerFather, when I look around this world, or pick up a magazine, or watch television I am bombarded with images and advertisements for all the latest fashions, hairstyles, and beauty products. Everyone is trying to stay young and beautiful and dress up his or her eternal appearance but pay little attention to the hidden man of the heart. They would rather pay loads of money for a piece of gold jewelry or a fine outfit than invest in kingdom principles. The inner character of the heart is the unfading beauty, which is of great worth in your sight Lord. Help me to cultivate inner beauty, the gentle, gracious kind that you delight in. Help me to refine my character, my true self, to be a reflection of unassuming and imperturbable sweetness, which is an imperishable attraction. Teach me to value godly qualities more than fashionable external ornamentation that will never make up for a deceitful, selfish, proud heart. Teach me to be content in who I am and let the light of your love radiate through me. Keep my attire pleasing to you Lord but keep me mindful that my character is what truly matters. Teach me to walk in grace with gentleness and kindness toward all I meet. In Jesus, name, Amen.
