Global Prayer on Job 1:21

And said, Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.

Job 1:21 · KJV

Today’s prayer

Written prayer

Father, you tested Job severely yet he continued to bless your name in the midst of his grief. He realized that all his blessings, including his beloved children and wife, came from you and belonged to you. They were here to serve your purpose for as long as you desired. You direct the time and seasons of my life. Help me live one day at a time and appreciate what I have this day. Don’t let me take my loved ones for granted because there are no guarantees they will be here tomorrow. Life can change in an instant as Job realized. One minute he was living in comfort and prosperity and the next he lost it all. He entered this world with nothing and when he leaves this world he realized he couldn’t take anything with him. My soul is what enters your kingdom and makes it through the gates of heaven. Everything else is temporal and I have to hold it loosely. I have to recognize that all things belong to you and I get to enjoy them but I can’t idolize them. Anything that comes before you will distract me from the intimacy you want to have with me. When I stand before you I stand naked and alone. I must give an account for my attitude and behavior. Help me always put you first before anything or anyone else in this world. This world is temporal but your world is eternal, in Jesus name, amen.
