Did you know that FOMO (the fear of missing out) is an ancient concept, going back to the very beginning of human history? In the garden, Satan tempted Adam and Eve into believing that God was withholding from them and the only way for them to be happy was to do things their own way — to choose their own path, because following God’s way would cause them to miss out. In order for us to become freed from FOMO, we must first believe in God’s goodness by knowing who He is, understanding that He is good to all of His children, and by regularly recalling personal examples of God’s goodness in our own lives. Our culture tempts us to trust in our own plans, but we can discover true joy when we learn to believe in a good and generous God.
