“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”
Did you know that you’re God’s masterpiece in the making? He created you spiritually and physically different than anyone else because He has a unique purpose for you to accomplish His “good works” that no one else can do.But to accomplish those works, you first need to know who you are in Christ. When you accepted Christ into your life, the Bible says you became a “new creation” and have a new identity. You become God’s adopted child and are loved and accepted by Him. As His child, we’re expected “to walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, with all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love.” (Eph. 4:1-2) Sadly, many of us have a new identity in Christ, yet our lives don’t always reflect this. Accepting Christ into your life doesn’t automatically change sinful thought patterns, and trying hard to be godly doesn’t always produce lasting change. So how do we line up our behaviors and beliefs to fulfill God’s purpose for our lives? God knows that, on our own, we are incapable of doing this. That’s why He has equipped you with spiritual gifts. These gifts aren’t earned, but we’re still responsible for discovering and developing them so we can find out how God wants us to use them. So then, as we live out our lives and use our gifts in a loving community, God uses us to shape and grow others.Let’s pray that we become more aware of our gifts to begin serving God more powerfully.
Lord Jesus, thank You for Your spiritual gifts. I’ve been blessed by many believers using their gifts to serve me. Help me be aware of and use my own, so I can also bless others. Thank You for Your goodness and all the ways You love and guide me. I ask this in Jesus’ name, amen.
