The Miracle of Fly Dubai Flight 1073 0:00 The big story from this past week was the attempted hijacking of a Fly Dubai 7 37 on its way to Tel Aviv with 176 passengers on board. Most of them Israelis, a few0:11 Americans. Initial reports were confusing, but as the days went by, more details emerged, and we now have a pretty clear picture about what happened. Meanwhile, the standoff in the Strait of Hormuz0:23 continues as Saudi Arabia's hot war with the Houthis in Yemen heats up a little more, and the global price of oil is hovering north of 100 dollars a barrel, causing economic pain0:35 everywhere. All that and much more is just ahead on this week's edition of VFI News from Israel.0:52 David Ben Gurion, Israel's 1st prime minister and arguably the most influential member of this country's founding generation, once said that if 1 lived in Israel, in order to be a realist,1:04 1 had to believe in miracles. These words of Ben Gurion, who made no secret of being an atheist, as well as the words of Jesus, Yeshua, from John chapter 10 verses 37 to1:16 38, came to my mind this past week as we watched the reports come in an attempt to hijack and crash fly Dubai flight 10 73. Now this incident1:28 is being seen by many in Israel as God's way of letting us know that despite everything we've been through in the past 3 years, including the way many of our friends have turned against us, he1:40 is still in our corner. There were some anxious hours after we got the initial reports that an airplane headed for Israel might have been hijacked. But in the end, the plane landed at a civilian airport
1:52 in Northern Saudi Arabia with everyone aboard still alive, including the hijacker. Well, in the hours and days that followed, details of what happened began to emerge in media
2:04 reports, and it was clear that there were several miracles that allowed this drama to end the way it did. But, of course, before the plane was even on the ground, people and probably
2:15 also AI powered bots were posting online that it was a false flag operation by the Mossad. This ridiculous accusation has become an almost axiomatic
2:27 part of the discourse surrounding Israel in recent years. Those who don't wish to see this country for the miracle it is use the false flag excuse to cast out on things the whole
2:39 world is seeing right in front of our faces. Others, particularly in the legacy media, reported on the event with headlines about a fight in the cockpit that almost caused a safety incident
2:52 or some such nonsense to distract from the miraculous events that were unfolding. Now before we go on, friends, let me just make a brief comment about what a miracle this country is and why
3:04 the fact that it's miraculous lets you know that the God who created this universe and everything in it is still very active and moving in human history. That is why this country is
3:16 so hated by those who believe in different gods than the 1 described in the Bible because it is tangible, visible proof that he is the 1 and only true god. He is a
3:27 god who keeps his promises whether human beings like you and me like it or not, or whether it meets our subjective standards of justice or not. The Bible is true, the 1 and
3:39 only source of divine revelation to this world. Now some religions claim that the Bible is just 1 of the many such sources of divine revelation and that all the others are equally true and valid, but
3:51 that is logically impossible since the Bible says things about God, humanity and the relationship between them and these other books and traditions contradict. 2 contradictory
4:03 mutually exclusive statements simply cannot both be true. Other religions claim that the Bible is a source of divine revelation, but it was imperfectly recorded by the people who wrote it down, while more
4:15 recently written books contain the true version of God's revelation to the world he created. Of course, the religion known as atheism says God simply does not exist, so it's a stupid waste of time
4:27 to take the Bible seriously. In fact, for many atheists, it's not enough to not take the Bible seriously. 1 must also make endless expressions of contempt for the Bible and anything
4:39 that reminds people of it. The adoption by Britain's Green Party this past week of a resolution that said Zionism is racism is an example of this phenomenon, just by the way.
4:51 The agenda of the woke 2.0 crowd in the United States being dominated by contempt for Israel is another example. In this context, we can't fail to mention those Christian
5:03 denominations which regard the Old Testament as merely a collection of ancient tribal fairy tales while having only a slightly higher view of the New Testament. Instead of looking to the Bible
5:15 for guidance and wisdom, they seek these things from secular humanist philosophy and classical western liberalism. Sadly, this attitude is probably the most destructive of
5:26 all because it gives so many spiritually weak and immature people a way to identify as Christian while completely ignoring the biblical message including the very words of Yeshua
5:38 himself. In any case, all of these folks hate Israel because it exists, not because of anything Israelis do or don't do, or I do or I don't do. The mere existence of Israel proves
5:50 the narrative they're emotionally invested in to be wrong, and that's at the root of all that hatred and contempt they have for this country. On the flip side of that, you have Christian support for Israel,
6:02 which was on vivid display last week as thousands of evangelical Protestant Christians from around the world gathered in Jerusalem to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles and many other
6:14 types of conferences and celebrations. The support of Israel by Christian Zionists has its own set of flaws and problems, I admit. But even at its most imperfect, this movement is
6:26 fueled by the same thing that fuels the hatred and contempt for Israel that so many others have, and that is the knowledge that this country proves the Bible is true and the God it describes is real.
6:38 You will never understand anything about Israel and by extension the modern world until you get your head around that fact. Israel is here to stay. Christian Zionists, pray for Israel.
6:50 Stand for Israel and be faithful. Now leaving commentary mode and getting back into the news and the story about fly Dubai flight 1 0 7 3, let's take a look at some of
7:02 the self evidently true miracles that occurred on this flight. I believe these miracles, wonder of wonders, miracles and miracles are God's way of showing a skeptical world 1
7:13 more time that he's real and that he is for real while also sending Israelis a sign that he's still here and still has our back. So with all that in mind, let us take a look at
7:25 the testimony of the pilot, captain Smit Makar, an Indian national who told his story to prime minister Netanyahu in a phone call from his hospital bed in the UAE over the weekend.
7:38 He started by saying that his co pilot, Mohammed Hammam Al Hammami, asked him for a break as they were flying in the sky over Jordan so he could perform his customary Muslim prayers.
7:51 Makar apparently thought nothing of it as Al Hammami had been part of the cockpit crew on several flights from Dubai to Tel Aviv over recent months. How did that happen? That's interesting.
8:03 Where was security? It's also not unusual for Muslim crew members to pray during flights. Now remember, Muslims pray 5 times a day at appointed times, and that includes while they're in
8:14 school, at work, or whatever. So Al Hammami's request to take a break from sitting at the controls of the aircraft to pray would not have raised any suspicion. But about 5 minutes
8:26 later, as captain Makar was keeping his eyes on the controls and the sky in the window outside the cockpit, he felt a hard blow on the back of his head. As he told Netanyahu, he
8:38 thought for a moment that something had happened to the aircraft, which caused an explosion behind him, and he'd been hit by a piece of debris. But then he felt himself being hit by several
8:50 more blows, and he realized the other person in the cockpit, Al Hammami, was hitting him with something. My goodness. It turned out to be the emergency smash ax that is kept
9:02 in the cockpit of commercial aircraft through smashing open windows in case the pilots need to make an emergency exit. You'll see similar axes on buses and most publicly transported
9:14 vehicles. Al Hammami used it to smash his pilot in the head so that he wouldn't stop him from doing what he came there to do, which is to take control of the plane full of passengers, mostly
9:25 Israelis, and crash it into the ground. Later reporting said he might have been hoping to crash it into Ben Gurion International Airport near Tel Aviv or some high office tower building in the
9:37 central part of Tel Aviv, and he almost succeeded. But more on that later in the report because just when all seemed lost, that's when the miracle started. To start with, Makar was
9:49 badly hurt, but he could still feel the aircraft making a sharp dive, and he realized that he needed to pull out of the dive quickly or it would be lost. He knew he couldn't do it himself, that he needed
10:01 help, so he somehow got close enough to the cockpit door and opened it on his 2nd attempt. Even after El Hammami stopped his 1st attempt. Outside the cockpit door, several
10:13 crew members and passengers were ready to spring into action. They included Yaniv Hayyun, a plumber from central Israel, who saw El Hammami bent over the control panel trying to
10:25 use the ax to break as many things as he could. Hayyun grabbed him by the neck and pulled him away from the controls, press... Passing him on to other passengers who constrained him using
10:37 the cord from a pair of in flight headphones. Then Hayun sat in the pilot's seat and managed to pull the plane out of its dive. He knew how to do that even though he'd never received any
10:49 flight training because he was a fan of TV shows about airplane disasters. Maybe we should watch more of those. And he'd seen simulations of this action being taken on these shows. A few
11:00 moments later, a trained pilot who had been a passenger on the plane entered the cockpit and was able to take control of it despite the damage done to the controls by Al Hammami. Together with another off
11:12 duty pilot who was aboard the flight, he was then able to fly the plane to prince sultan bin Abdul Aziz International Airport in Tabuk, Northern Saudi Arabia, and land. By the way,
11:24 on your future flights, pray that you have an Israeli plumber like Yaniv was on board. Now that was also a bit of a miracle as we found out after the plane landed and saw that most of the tail section
11:36 had been torn away in the harrowing 15000 foot dive which Al Hammami sent the plane into when he 1st took control of it. Several aviation industry representatives
11:48 expressed amazement that the plane didn't suffer even worse structural damage during the dive and that it was able to be landed with its damaged tail section. A dentist of all people who
12:00 was a passenger on the plane managed to give life saving treatment to both the serious lead wounded pilot and the less seriously wounded jihadist co pilot despite the fact that his medical
12:12 training didn't cover blunt force trauma, that is the dentist. After the plane landed, they were both taken to an area hospital and given emergency 1st aid before being airlifted to the
12:24 United Arab Emirates. Now, Maher being taken to a hospital and Al Hammami being taken to the medical ward of a prison where he remains under close observation and interrogation.
12:36 According to UAE law enforcement, he has admitted to trying to crash the plane. Although UAE officials have declared his actions to be terrorism, there is still some hesitation
12:49 to admit what his likely motive was. 1 group of people which has no doubts about the motive of this terrorist is Al Qaeda. Specifically, it's Arabian Peninsula branch, which is centered in Yemen.
13:01 Last Friday, they published an article in 1 of their online publications, which called on their supporters to carry out similar attacks. The article said in part, quote, America and the Zionists have far more
13:13 enemies today than before. Perhaps a man who does not believe in God will target them, and his operation will ultimately benefit Islam, unquote. The article read, continuing, today,
13:25 you are riding the glory of the nation with your blood. Whoever lives will find the fruit of the jihad of his brothers who came before him, and it is very near. The day will come when the empire of evil America
13:37 will end, unquote. Friends, we are living in very dangerous times, but we are also living in miraculous times. God is on the move in this world. And if we're watching the news with spiritual eyes, we
13:48 can see his handiwork everywhere, even or perhaps especially in really difficult situations. When we read James chapter 1 verses 2 to 3, it says, my brethren, count it all
14:00 joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. It doesn't say if you encounter trials. It says when you encounter
14:12 them. God's people are not promised an easy time of it here in this world, but we are promised his guidance, protection, and everything we'll need to get through these trials. In Israel's
14:24 case, that often means a miracle. And I wanna take this opportunity to invite you to pray earnestly for Israel and for the Jewish people because we're going to need all the miracles we can get in the days
14:35 ahead. And if you wanna do more than pray, if you wanna be part of this miracle, you can visit our website vision for israel dot com, and click on the projects tab, and please watch this short

15:53 They survived the holocaust. But today, some struggle to afford basic groceries. In Israel, many of them are now in their late eighties and nineties living on very limited
16:05 income. After everything they endured, they should not have to struggle again. Time is precious. These are the final years of their lives. They cannot rebuild again. They cannot start over
16:16 again, but we can stand with them. For over 30 years, Vision for Israel has provided direct practical support to Holocaust survivors across the country. Your gift of 95

16:52 They endured history's darkest chapter. Let their final chapter Holocaust survivor today, vision for israel dot com.
17:05 Welcome back, friends. Just a short moment to tell you something. You saw a little white piece of tape. Maybe it was the Mossad. Well, I stuck it back in my pocket where it belonged. Okay. Well, not to worry,
17:17 guys. Welcome back. Now there's a lot more to say regarding the attempted hijacking of fly Dubai flight 10 73 because there's an election coming up in a few weeks. A blame game
17:29 quickly began over whose fault it is that this was allowed to happen. I don't even wanna get into that whole mess because there's plenty of blame to go around, and I don't like to see tragedies or averted
17:40 tragedies get exploited to score cheap political points. However, we can't ignore that this event has become 1 more issue in an already highly toxic election campaign that
17:52 has seen all the major players take cheap shots at each other while giving the voters very few actual insights into what their plans are. In other words, most of the campaigning has been focused on
18:04 trying to convince voters to not vote for someone else. Sounds familiar? While giving them few, if any, positive reasons to vote for anyone in particular. It gets very disheartening and demoralizing
18:16 sometimes, so please add these upcoming elections, both in Israel and the United States, to your prayers, especially for Israel if you haven't already. Now we need to move on to other big
18:28 stories hitting the headlines this past week, starting with the escalating battle between Saudi Arabia and the Iranian backed Houthi rebels in Yemen. Last Sunday, a Saudi backed coalition of anti
18:40 Houthi forces announced that they are launching an offensive to take back the territory that the Houthis have seized on the coastline facing the Red Sea and the Bab el Mandeb strait. Go for it,
18:51 guys. Saudi aircraft have also been observed stepping up their strikes on Houthi targets all over Yemen. And as usual, there are unconfirmed reports that Israeli intelligence support to Saudi
19:03 Arabia is what's enabling them to carry out the air campaign. It's too early to tell if this new Saudi backed effort to dislodge the Houthis or at least convince them to stop hassling Saudi
19:15 Arabia's oil tankers as they attempt to transit the Bab al Mandab Strait after filling up at the Red Sea port of Yambu. Candidly, we should all be hoping and praying for it to be successful
19:27 because even a partial blockage of the Bab al Mandab has the potential to cause enormous problems for everyone, including you. As anyone watching this report
19:39 will surely be aware, consumers all over the world are paying higher prices for almost everything else these days because the price of a barrel of oil is hovering just over 100 dollars. There is a
19:50 global shortage of diesel fuel, which is what almost all heavy machinery needs, including the trucks which are used to transport goods to your local supermarket and also the tractors that farmers need to
20:02 plant and harvest crops. The diesel shortage is not happening only because of reduced flows of crude oil out of the Middle East. They're also happening because great damage has been done to the physical
20:14 infrastructure for refining crude oil into diesel. Most of that damage has happened in the context of the war between Russia and Ukraine, But there are also reports of accidents at
20:26 refineries in India and China leading to those countries restricting exports. Now while Saudi Arabia is trying to get on top of the Houthi problem, Houthi, Iran is
20:38 trying to fan the flames of other conflicts all over the Middle East. It's no secret that they are continuing to encourage Hezbollah to make trouble in Lebanon, and Israel is systematically annihilating
20:50 what's left of that terrorist organization. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, Hamas remains very active in the Gaza Strip. While the IDF remains deployed in approximately 62
21:01 percent of that territory in an effective but very expensive effort to protect Israelis from this evil terrorist organization. Now friends, to switch briefly to
21:13 commentary mode, I wish I could tell you that the war in Ukraine and the wars here in the Middle East are likely to end soon, and all the disruptions and economic problems that are being caused by them will stop too.
21:25 I wish I could tell you that it's not very likely that another big war will break out in East Asia in the next few years, which will cause even more problems for everyone. But as Winston Churchill once
21:37 said, quote, war is a cowardly retreat from the problems of peace, unquote. Governments and individuals often get frustrated when they don't know what to do about their common everyday problems. So
21:49 in order to feel like they're not completely irrelevant and also in order to try and distract themselves and others, that's why Vladimir Putin invaded Ukraine because he literally had no
22:01 idea what to do about all of Russia's economic, cultural, and demographic problems. The regime which rules in Iran is dealing with runaway inflation, water shortages, and poor air
22:12 quality in all its major cities, and many other problems which are making life miserable for their people. But instead of spending time and lots of money and attention on any of these problems,
22:24 they've been waging war on Israel and America for almost all of the last 50 years. Their proxies in Yemen, Lebanon, and among the Palestinians also have all kinds of problems which they ignore and
22:36 make worse by joining in these endless attacks on Israel. Now Israelis, myself included, would love to stop fighting wars and and focus all our energy on fighting
22:48 diseases, water shortages, and other similar problems. We can even help these enemy nations, but we can't because if we let our guard down, our enemies will pounce on us again just like they did
22:59 on October 7th 2023. We've been commemorating the anniversary of that terrible day this week and many other events taking place here at Vision for Israel, but we're also taking the
23:11 occasion to recommit to the effort of providing Israeli communities the gear and equipment they need to stay safe. We've already provided hundreds of bomb safety shelters to communities all over the
23:23 country, including Jewish and Arab towns and cities. We've also provided equipment to medical 1st responders, firefighting teams, and even the police. Well, if you'd like to help out with this effort, you can
23:35 visit our website vision for israel dot com, and please watch our short video.

25:54 Welcome back, friends. Well, we're coming to the end of the report, so I'll just briefly touch on another big story, and that's the riots which have rocked dozens of cities in France and Spain this past week. The
26:05 proximate cause of the riots in France was the poor conditions that students in French schools had been dealing with due in part to cuts to the national budget. Now I have no doubt that some of the complaints are
26:17 legit, that these kids have... Are trying to make it through school. On the other hand, the school buildings they've stuck in for around 36 hours a week have been neglected for years and their teachers
26:29 are overworked and underpaid as well. But agitators from both Islamist groups and far left political parties have reportedly been encouraging these kids to stop with their peaceful protest and
26:41 go bananas, in other words, anarchy instead. Truthfully, many of them probably didn't need much encouragement. As 1 commentator said, these kids are feral, meaning they have little
26:53 adult supervision in their lives and have instead been essentially raised by the Internet, which has now produced results no 1 should be surprised by. The riots have so far resulted in
27:04 thousands of arrests, dozens of injuries, and billions of euros in property damage, not less so to the schools themselves. In next door Spain, large street demonstrations have also been going
27:16 on all week, primarily over the issue of affordable housing. Spain's fiercely anti Israel prime minister Pedro Sanchez called snap elections on Monday morning in what I would say was a
27:28 wise decision. It was either that or the demonstrations in Spain would probably have ballooned into riots soon as well. Well, now we've reached the end of our report, and I wanna continue the tradition
27:40 of ending with some good news. So here it is. The Jewish communities in Western Europe have been considering Aliyah to Israel for years, and many have already come, especially from France.
27:52 I'm sure the riots in France and the position that Zionism is racism adopted this week by the Greens, a major British political party, will give them even more incentive to do so. Come
28:04 home to Israel. It's a hard way to solve a problem, but sometimes that's how God works. Food for thought to all our Jewish family in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, France,
Israeli Politics, Regional Conflicts, and Global Crises
28:16 so on and so forth. With that, I am Barry Siegel saying, I invite you to come to the nation of Israel and move here permanently. This has been another edition of VFI News
Riots in Europe and a Call to Aliyah
28:28 from Israel. God bless you and shalom.
