The Fear of the Lord 0:01 The following program is sponsored in part by friends and partners of Jenson Franklin Media Ministries.0:06 One of the greatest qualities that a person can have is a good healthy fear of of the Lord. He's not your genie in the bottle. He's not the man0:18 upstairs. He's not your co pilot. God is my co pilot in my car. He is not. He is god almighty creator,0:30 the ruler of heaven and earth, and we are to fear him in awe and in reverence.0:40 Together, we're inspiring people to live for Jesus. If you're looking for more in life, to live with purpose and peace, to make a difference for your family and those in need around the world, Jesus is the answer.0:52 And our mission is to simply point you to him. You're watching Kingdom Connection with Judson Franklin.1:00 If you have your bibles, I'd like for you to open them with me to the book of first Samuel chapter nine. I, I have a message that I'm going to preach and the way1:11 that this sermon came about was through my son and my daughter in law's on the phone with him. We were just talking stuff and he said something to me this past week not knowing what1:23 he was saying. But he said, dad, I wish you would preach on the fear of God again. He said, we need the preachers to preach on the fear of God, which is so weird for him to be1:35 telling me what to what to preach on. So I take that challenge since you're on the front row. Amen. He did not intend to be here, but circumstances brought him here today.1:47 Miraculous circumstances that I'll tell you before we leave. There was a man of Benjamin whose name was Kish, the son of Ahiel, the son of2:00 Ziroir, the son of somebody I'm not preaching about. Keep moving in somebody I'm not preaching about. A Benjaminite, a mighty man of power.2:13 And he had a choice and handsome son whose name was Saul. There was not a more handsome person than he among the children of Israel. From2:25 his shoulders upward he was taller than any of the people. And I'll stop there because this man, Saul of the2:37 old testament became the first king of Israel that the people demanded to have. God doesn't choose the leaders that we have.2:49 I know he raises one up, pulls one down. I understand he's sovereign. I understand he's he knows everything and he and he is in charge of everything. He allows, but we choose3:01 our leaders just like Israel. If if you understand, we say, well, people say, well, God put that person there. No. The people put that person there and then God can3:12 anoint what he does if it's in a line with his word. But we choose. That's why that's why you need to understand that it's important for you to3:24 vote. Because God's not choosing who our governor will be. God's not choosing who our senator will be. God's not choosing who our president will be. People are choosing.3:37 And if you if you don't choose by not voting, you're not choosing. And that's not my sermon, but I like what I'm saying right now. Because I've never been one to be quiet3:49 about stuff like this. We are to stand for the bible and vote our convictions and as long as Christianity will survive without4:00 America, but America will not survive without Christianity. I don't... You... If we don't put our trust in God, we will not survive. If we turn our back4:12 on Israel, we will not survive. Mark my words. Write it down.4:22 He was choice. He was godly. He was good looking. He was from the shoulders upward taller than any other man in Israel. And God would go on to say later4:33 in the next chapter, I gave them a king in my anger and I took him away in my wrath. What a verse. I gave them a king in my anger. They asked for it.4:45 I gave them what they asked for. And I took him away in wrath.4:51 You4:51 see, God gave them what he didn't choose. But when5:03 Samuel went to him, God said pour the oil, I will anoint and I will use him as much as he will allow me to use him and fear me.5:17 And first Samuel chapter fifteen and verse seventeen said that he was... When you were little in your own eyes, when you saw5:28 yourself as as lowly even though you're tall and powerful and and now you're the king of Israel. But there came this time where he began to lose the fear of God and after a while,5:41 after he started with such anointing and such humility and such wisdom that there came a moment that when he started getting his eyes5:53 off of God and listening to the prophet Samuel and listening which would be the word of the Lord. He did not read it. He did not cherish it. He did not listen to it. He did6:04 not give attention to it. Samuel, every time he would come, he would not do what he said over and over and over. He said, kill all the Amalekites. You know why? Because God6:16 said, I don't... Oh, I don't have time to preach this. But but but they... He remembered the water hole when the children of Israel were in the wilderness and they finally got to a water hole that they could drink and6:27 here comes the Amalekites and attacked them. And God said, I'll put a curse on the Amalekites because they've attacked you when you were so thirsty and I'll get you back one day. And this was the moment when Samuel...6:40 When when Saul had conquered the Amalekites and had their leader, Achish I believe his name was or had their leader and and God said, get...6:52 You know, sometimes we can't play with sin. Sometimes we can't hold on to things. Sometimes some things have to die. And he said, we don't entertain this in our nation.7:05 Jeremiah two and nineteen said that, it's your backsliding and your corruption and your bitter evil. They have forsaken God that my7:17 fear is not in them. See, what he lost was a good healthy fear of God.7:29 You see, one of the greatest qualities that a person can have is a good healthy fear of the Lord. Everybody needs a good healthy7:41 all reverence and fear of the Lord. He's not your genie in the bottle. He's not the man upstairs. He's not your7:53 co pilot. God is my co pilot in my car. He is not. He is God almighty creator, the ruler of heaven and earth,8:05 and we are to fear him in awe and in reverence. Every day we need to have a healthy dose of the fear of8:16 God. It is the fear of God that has kept me all my life. It wasn't just the mercy and the goodness, but we were raised in church where they8:28 preached on the judgment, and they preached on hell, and they preached on god's holiness, and they preached on the... It's not legalism. It is just how a8:40 Christian conducts themselves. I fear the lord. This is what the Bible said in second Samuel twenty three. He was talking to his son Solomon and David said, he that ruleth8:52 over men must be just ruling in the fear of God. Knowing that they will be judged by God. Ruling in the9:03 fear of God. Solomon would go on and say in exit... In Ecclesiastes twelve and thirteen. Let us hear the conclusion of everything.9:17 Fear God, keep his commandments for this is the whole duty of man. Not just to come down and get born again or do a religious9:28 ritual. That is not what is required, but to fear God. If you love him, you will fear him. If you know him, if you know the god of the bible, you will fear9:40 him. I I love him. I'm not afraid of him because I trust him and I have faith that trust him no matter when things happen that I don't understand. But I will say when I9:52 see things happen it makes me fear God because he controls everything and he allows storms that hit sometimes to be used for his calls,10:04 and we are to walk in a fear of who he is and his mighty power. The fear of God keeps... He who fears God keeps his commandments. This is10:16 the whole duty of man. Proverbs one in verse seven says this. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge. So if you kick God out of our education, your knowledge is10:28 already flawed. I I I... You can put somebody up here more book smart than I am, but if I have the fear of the Lord and they don't, they're an atheist, godless, whatever.10:40 Any other religion but Jesus. Then you know what? The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge. Proverbs nine and verse10:52 ten, the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Job twenty eight twenty eight, behold the fear of the Lord. That is behold the fear of the11:04 Lord that is wisdom and to depart from evil is understanding. The fear of the Lord keeps you from situations, keeps you from evil, keeps you from messing around,11:16 keeps you... It's it's the fear of God. When you are weak, you ought to have something in you. And every now and then you need to come to church, and you need to come to church like this where you11:27 can feel God while the preacher preaches. And suddenly, you're getting a dose of the fear of the Lord back in your spirit. And you were doing things that you shouldn't be doing, but the fear of the Lord says, I've gotta11:39 let that go. Saul of Tarsus, the first time we see him, he's holding the coats of men that he had ordered to throw the rocks and11:50 stone to death. Stephen, the first martyr of the New Testament. And Paul... Saul is holding those coats. Meaning,12:04 if Roman authorities see us doing this task of killing these people for their faith, they will know it's okay because I'm a12:15 Roman citizen and they know I have the authority to persecute the church. He was participating in a murder. He was a blasphemer. He was throwing people in12:27 prison. He started out the worst. He's killing people in the name of God. The first Saul starts out best, ends up worse. The12:39 second Saul starts out worse, but ends up best. He ends up the apostle Paul. He ends up writing half the New Testament. And in acts nine in verse six, he says,12:51 Lord, Lord, when the Lord appeared to him in his resurrected body, he said, who are you? And he said, I am Jesus whom you persecute. And it's hard to kick against the bricks. The next verseBiblical Foundations of Fearing God 13:03 says, and he trembling. There's the fear of the Lord. Here it comes. It started right there. He trembling and astonished said, Lord, here's how you know you got saved or not. Not that you came down and13:15 prayed a prayer. What would you have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, arise and go to the city, and it will be told now that you got fear and trembling, it'll13:27 be told you what God's will is for your life. When you get the fear of God, you'll find the will of God. You'll find the open door that no man can13:39 shut. You'll find all that God has for your life. Young people, when you begin to fear the lord more than you fear peer pressure or what your college friends will think about you, you fear the lord.13:52 Acts thirteen and verse sixteen, you men of Israel and you that fear god. Paul is preaching his first sermon, and he's about to tell them all that Christ has done for them. But he he says the the the prerequisite14:04 of you receiving this is I need some fear of God in you, or you won't be able to receive the blessings of the new covenant. The fear of14:16 God is a real asset. This is what I felt the Lord wanted me to say. If I'm summing it up, the fear of the Lord is a real asset. When we have a tendency to play games with god, the14:28 fear of the lord will get us back where we need to be. Gonna have a hard time defeating the demon that you enjoy playing with.14:42 That's why the apostle Paul said in first Corinthians nine in verse twenty seven, I keep my body... This is the man who preach to others. I keep my body under14:53 subjection less by any means when I have preached to others, I myself. He's not preaching to you. He said, there is a danger. This is the this is the15:05 fear of the Lord. There is a danger of being great at preaching to others, but I myself become... Does he mean that? A castaway.15:17 That's the fear of the Lord. I don't wanna become a castaway. I don't want someone else to get my crown that I'm gonna throw at Jesus feet.15:30 I want this one too and then I'm going to end. This is a scripture that's amazing. First Peter two seventeen. Honor all men. Love the brotherhood.15:42 Fear God. Honor the king. Honor all men. Always show honor. Young people always show honor. Old people always show honor. Honor. Honor. That's a godly thing. And15:54 then love your brothers. Love the church. Love your family, forgive one another, be there for one another, undergird, encourage one another, fear God. There it is right in the middle of all that. FearSaul of Tarsus and Finding God's Will 16:06 God. I command you to fear God and honor the king. And and and again, the people choose the king. Whoever gets voted in, you know what16:18 I will do? I will honor them. I will never, you'll never see me. If someone comes in here, That would be everything against the scriptures. I still show them honor because16:30 if you can't honor the person, honor the office. I never really noticed this, but I'm glad that I ran a little reference and found it. And I thought, oh, I found a revelation.16:42 Jesus is hanging on the cross on the middle cross. There's a thief on the left and he's cursing him with his last breath. Cursing him. There's16:54 another thief who turns, and we always say he addressed Jesus since asked him for forgiveness and said, Lord, remember me when you come in your kingdom. That's not what he did. He17:06 leaned out, stretched out his body, looks over at the thief on the cross, cursing Jesus, and he says these words. The other17:18 answering rebuked him saying, does not thou fear god? He said, I feel the fear of17:30 god. You don't feel the fear of god and you're about to go into eternity? Seeing that we are of the same condemnation, next verse,17:42 we indeed are justified. We are getting what we deserved for we received you reward of our deeds, but this man has done nothing amiss. Nothing wrong.17:54 And he said to Jesus, lord, remember me when you come into your kingdom. Watch this. Because he had the fear of the Lord. Watch this next verse. And18:06 Jesus said unto him, verily, I say unto you today, you hadn't, you didn't, you didn't burn no candles. You didn't pray no18:18 prayers. You didn't give any tithes. You didn't win any souls. You didn't treat your wife right. You didn't do nothing. You didn't help nobody. But this day, because18:30 you showed the fear of the Lord and repented. Call me Lord. I don't look like Lord, but you call me Lord. This day, you should be with me18:42 in paradise. You've had fear, a godly fear and I'm drawn to that. I'm gonna ask you not to leave. I'm gonna ask you to stand to your feet all over this18:54 room. I'm gonna ask you to bow your heads all over this room. I feel led to have an old fashioned altar call. Drake, would you come19:06 up here with me? I want all of you young men to listen to me and listen to me good. He's twenty seven and got his19:17 beautiful wife and child here and his arm, his left arm was swollen, unusual and it was red and hot.19:30 And, we took him to the emergency room. He and I went to the emergency room and they did an MRI, they came out and they said, well this is pretty19:42 serious. And what we have is a blood clot from his elbow all the way up to his armpit basically. And there are multiple blood clots, and one of19:54 them has gone through his heart and has gone into his lungs. Now this was this week. This was this was Thursday of this week. But you don't know20:06 that you've got another twenty, thirty years to make a decision for Christ. And what he had said to me earlier on the phone that week was dead. Preach on the fear of20:17 God. He he would be watching in DC on TV, but he didn't know what was waiting when he got here. We put in him a brand new fear of20:29 God. Like he hadn't felt in a long time. So I wanna give a different altar call. I wanna give an altar call for every man in20:41 this room, thirty and under. Come on. Every man. Every man. You say, well, I... I'm not living right. You're the one I'm talking to too. Come on with them.20:53 All of us need a healthy dose. All of us need a healthy... This preacher needs a healthy dose of the fear of the Lord. This is a good thing to pray for. This is a good thing to21:05 ask for. It'll keep you. It'll keep you from evil. It'll keep you from the wrong places and the wrong people, wrong choices and wrong steps. It'll keep you.21:17 That's it. Look at them. Come on. They're coming. My God, what a great army. What a great army of young men. I've asked God for a thousand young men in this church who will take up their21:29 cross. This is revival. This is revival. Come on. Come on, young man. Come on. I fear you. I honor you. I revere you. I21:41 reverence you. I stand in awe of you, Jesus. Just tell him that. Now raise those hands and say, God, I fear you. Like the feet on the cross, I repent.21:54 Lord, write my name in the book of life. Cleanse me. Forgive me. I'll take up my cross.22:08 I'm so thankful for the things that could've killed me that didn't kill me. I'm so glad that you had mercy and you had grace when I wasn't even aware I was22:20 in trouble. You held it back.22:26 Glory to God.22:29 Who am I? And you had me on your mind.22:35 You've watched over me when I wasn't even aware.22:52 So just lift up your hands toward heaven. That's that's what they do when they surrender. When someone surrenders, you just raising those hands saying I give up. I giveThe Fear of God as a Safeguard 23:04 up. I've tried it all. I give up. Just say, Jesus, have mercy on me. I thank you for your goodness. It's why I'm23:16 still here.23:19 I thank you for23:19 your exceeding love. You never gave up on me. Even here this morning, you ordered my steps.23:31 I was supposed to hear this message. And right now, I commit my life to you, Jesus Christ. The good,23:44 the bad, the ugly. I give it all to you. It's not mine. It's yours now. And I will walk in the fear of the Lord, and I will23:56 serve you and honor you the best I can. And if I fall, your mercy will be ready to pick me up. But I'm gonna do my best24:09 to have a fresh dose24:13 of the fear of the Lord24:16 in my heart from this day forward. Forward. In Jesus' name, I am forgiven. Say this. I am a God fearing24:28 man. Hallelujah. Give the Lord a great, great, great, great, great praise. We're not ashamed24:36 of the gospel. We're not we're not embarrassed about who we are and what we believe.24:44 If you just prayed with pastor Jensen and gave your life to Jesus, welcome to the family of God. If ever there has been a time that God's people, the Christians, need to stand up and25:18 be counted, it's right now with some of the most critical political decisions that could affect not only your generation but generations to come. I would be remiss25:30 if I didn't remind you that all that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good people and especially God's people to remain silent. This November,25:42 you cannot remain silent. You must make your voice heard. Vote your values in the midterm elections. This isn't just about left wing or right wing or even25:53 Democrat and Republican. This is about doing the right thing. This is about standing up for biblical belief. This is about standing up for the next generation and making sure that our26:05 children have freedom. They're not in a socialist nation or a communist nation. I know that I'll be at the polls casting my vote. And, you know,26:17 both parties are flawed. You can always find something that you disagree with, but I'm a tell you something. I will never be able to vote for someone who is not pro26:28 life, pro Israel, pro religious freedom, and really just love this nation. This will continue to be one nation under god only26:41 as long as god's people stand up and make their voices heard and vote. I challenge each of you to vote, vote early, and remind everyone26:53 you know about just how important these midterms are. Thank you for listening, and may God continue to bless America is my prayer.27:06 On October seventh, Southern Israel experienced the worst massacre of Jews since the Holocaust. Children, families, and entire communities were attacked by terrorists who27:17 murdered, kidnapped, and shattered lives. Today, twenty five hundred children in Eshkol are trying to return to school, to safety, and to life, but the27:29 threat is not over. Terrorists across the border continue to threaten civilian areas with anti tank missiles. In partnership with the Jewish National27:40 Fund, Jenson Franklin Media Ministries has built hundreds of safe rooms, fortified the Kingdom Play School, and constructed bomb27:48 shelters and a resilient center27:48 that protect families in Eshcol every day.28:03 I was28:03 I was a former teacher in the school behind this wall. It houses approximately two and a half thousand children, two thousand five hundred. These children come to school here every day, and you can only28:15 imagine what it must feel like as a parent to send your children to school knowing that the school's within reach of anti tank missiles, that playgrounds are no longer safe,28:27 school buses are not safe, and this wall has changed all of that.28:31 I'm very happy that they built this wall. I never thought that anybody would just care about us because we're just some kids from a random country, but it's actually so nice to know that there's people that care about28:40 us.28:41 Today as you stand with Israel in her hour of need, you are not only helping protect these precious children, you are helping fulfill biblical prophecy. Your gift creates a hedge of protection for over28:53 twenty five hundred children in Eshcol and their families. Stand with the children of Eshcol. Stand with Israel.29:25 This program has been sponsored in part by friends and partners of Jenson Franklin Media Ministries.
