When God's Plan Feels Like a Detour 0:00 What if the life you planned, the timeline, the relationships, the dreams looks nothing like the life that you're living right now? What if God's plans feels like a detour rather than a0:11 destination? In this episode, we are going to dive into the question, what if God's plan doesn't look like mine? Because how many of us know that oftentimes God's will doesn't0:23 go our way? Disappointment doesn't just come from a place of pain. It can come from difference when what is doesn't match what you expected or prayed for.0:35 That feeling that God has gone quiet or is slow or is distant is 1 of the hardest parts of faith I know, and I write about it in the fabric of hope. When it comes to God's will in ways,0:47 we need to not only remember but also trust that God's ways are higher, they are better, and they're beyond our limited understanding. Perhaps you've heard of Isaiah0:59 55 verses 8 through 9 before. It says, for my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my1:10 ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. What this speaks to me is that God's plan isn't random. In fact, the truth is that it is1:23 redemptive. We think God's plan should feel linear, but scripture shows us that it's often layered, sometimes delayed, and always deeper. I mean, think about it. Joseph didn't plan the1:34 pit. David didn't plan the cave. Paul didn't plan to have a thorn in his flesh. God did. And God used each of those lows to bring about a greater glory in the lives and in the
1:46 will of the kingdom. I also want you to know that detours don't mean that God is absent. When he changes course or when he allows things to unfold in a way that you
1:58 didn't expect, God does not abandon you in the middle of that place. He walks with us through that place. He is the good shepherd that's detailed in Psalm 23 4, which
Valleys of Preparation and Presence
2:10 reads, even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil for you are with me. I write in my book about how valleys,
2:21 although refining, are where we get planted, tilled, pruned, and nurtured so that we have the necessary fruit for whatever mountain lies ahead. Valleys aren't punishment, they're preparation.
2:34 There's so much to be gained in that place that we often wanna rush through. But what if we slowed down and we embrace the will of God instead of trying to fight our way around it?
2:46 Because, friend, God's plan isn't just about where you're going. It's about who you're becoming in the middle of the unexpected. I'm excited for you to unpack more of that as you
2:58 dive into my book, The Fabric of Hope.
