  2. 1941058 The Prayer for a MiracleScrambling to get through the day seems to be the norm and exhausts hope daily. When will it slow down? The prayer for a miracle. The thing is, all the scrambling and running around and trying to get it all done, you still don't get what you want. And when you don't get what you want, you become impatient and frustrated. Maybe waiting for that perfect job, the perfect home, the perfect lover, the perfect bank account. It's so hard being patient. We are programmed to work hard for quick return on our investments. But what do you think Mary though when she was told she would give birth to the Son of God? And on top of that, she wasn't married yet. Talk about impossibility. Plus, having a baby doesn't happen overnight. She would carry the Son of God in her womb to term, and wrap him in swaddling clothes and lay him in a manger. Do you think if she put a time limit on the birth of Jesus, she would have won? NO!!! Because it was all in God's timing. He did create childbirth. And we really have no place to rush God's perfect timing; His heavenly timing. But that leaves you here. Wanting something different than you have now. It's hard to be patient. It means waiting. You've been searching, reaching, dreaming, and planning for the perfect time. Only to find you're fresh out of college, a newly wed, a new mommy, or even in the middle of a health or relationship crisis. Or juggling the new career path, children's activities; just plain B.U.S.Y.! Are you stuck in the rotation, the cycle of keeping busy but taking NO action? Take a deep breath. I really want you to think about this. For me, I was caught in the pregnant or nursing season for 10 years. Then it was me having to run the household without the dependability of my husband's schedule. I put a lot of things on the back burner, and would change my priorities to whatever fire needed to be put out. My attention was always turning from one direction to another. There seemed to be a little focus in a lot of directions. Regardless of the overview, could I have done things differently? Of course! YES!!! The thing is, we tend to live in the distractions. All the interruptions that we allow to get in our way of creating what matters, our now. Our priorities shift; and those so-called priorities are your distractions. This isn't to make you feel guilty, only to open your eyes. But when you are always searching for that magical answer, the miracle... the ball is in your court. When overwhelm has a grip on your heart and gut, what do you do to relieve the tension? Desire to be supported and encourage by other like-minded women? Knowing that if you do nothing to rock the boat, all will be status quo. You'll eventually relax and stop fighting the fear. Fear becomes you. It's your normal. Anything outside of fear is scarier! "Fear robs us of our treasures." So why stay trapped in it? As your eyes looked across the horizon this morning what did your heart want to accomplish? What made you get up this morning, not counting your responsibilities? But if you let fear consume you where it hides in the little hurts and the trials of your days, how will you ever get to where you want to go. This is it! The K.I.S.S. ~ Do not fear!   5. 1971061 How NOT to Zap Your EnergyEnergy is vital to being productive and living a vibrant life. But the holidays can zap your energy so fast. You have to find how NOT to zap your energy. What works and what doesn't work. Desire to be supported and encourage by other like-minded women? Too many deadlines, and the naughty and nice list gets more complicated. And then there's normal life. That just doesn't go away, as much as we wish it would. So let's look at how NOT to zap your energy. In doing that, we have to look at what does zap your energy. excessive commitments binge eating (too much sugar) extra late nights alway It would be great if you could wave your magic wand and everything would be A.O.K.!!! But life doesn't work that way. Now I could tell you to .... hydrate often (drink half your body weight in ounces of water) eat green leafy vegetables stay away from processed foods (shop the perimeter of the grocery store) include a protein with every meal and snack get your exercise in at least 3x a week walk daily devotion/meditation/yoga/stretching But the problem is --- you don't have the time, nor the energy to create a whole new lifestyle with the demands of the holidays too. It just doesn't work. And now that you know what doesn't work in creating a whole new lifestyle... Then what really works during the holidays is The K.I.S.S. ~ D.E.C.K. the halls and recharge you! DO what you know. ENTER rest, remove the stress. CREATE joy. KNOW your limits. "You are precious. And it's not about the decorations or lights, presents or even the celebrations. It's a little bit of hope I see in people's eyes that sparkle brighter than the regular day to day grind eyes. The eyes that are overwhelmed with financial commitments, career pressures, and family responsibilities. As I went outside late last night, the stars seemed to shine brighter. The sky was as clear as the night before. So what was different? It was simply the extraordinary found in the ordinary. How are you looking at your sky? Do you see only what's in front of you? Or do you search with vigor for the surprise of the unknown? One cold night thousands of years ago, there were shepherds keeping watch over their flock by night. (Luke 2:8) It was an ordinary night. Shepherds protecting their sheep. And lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them, and they were sore afraid. (Luke 2:9) Just an ordinary night with a few sheep under the stars. Yet is was that night Jesus was born! The extraordinary found in the ordinary. The K.I.S.S. ~ Open your eyes and your heart! How are you living your days? Are you waiting for the magic to be created? Or are you looking for the extraordinary found in your ordinary? If ordinary is good enough for the Son of God to be born here on earth then you too can have extraordinary in your ordinary day. You don't need to create extraordinary for God to show up in your life. But you do need to be looking. But remember, you can't find what you're not looking for. REFLECTION: Ask God to give you eyes to see the extraordinary found in the ordinary. Open your heart to the unexpected. May your beauty shine bright in the ordinary. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.   10. 2021066 Dreams Do Come TrueNo matter how busyness consumes you, dreams do come true. But it's all up to you. Dreams require action, organization, and fortitude. Most find it easy to create and to plan how to make the dream come true. Desire to be supported and encourage by other like-minded women? Where have your dreams drifted? Did reality hit too soon with marriage or children? Maybe you had a medical setback? Finances have kept you strapped for years and adding any extra funds to pursue your dream would be irresponsible. You can try and figure out why your dreams are stalled. But ultimately, it comes down to you. Dreams do come true. But it takes you to find your way back to your dreams. When your dream began, you were at a different time in life. This week, I did a marathon excursion down south to go through our new home with the inspector. And when we got down there, we were exhausted already. Drove all night; 11 hours. So we had been up for over 28 hours. We went to meet with the inspector and my husband joined us later. Both of us were tired, pushing ourselves to a physical and emotional extreme. As much as we hoped the inspection would be all great, inspections are made to find errors. Right? And we want to find those errors in a home. But in a marriage, we tend to be the inspector, looking for the holes, the oopsies, and the faults. Unfortunately, we point them out too often and usually not at the appropriate time. We do not need to always be nit-picking apart our spouse. Instead, we need to lift up and live with love. The K.I.S.S. ~ Lift up and live with love! ELEVATE your spouse. Raise them up. Lift him up. Encourage your spouse. It's about what they can do, not what they can't. EMBRACE your spouse. Live with love. Love them where they're at. EMPOWER your spouse. Believing in them before they believe in themselves. Look at your spouse and say.... Because of you, I will elevate, embrace, and empower. That's exactly what God does for us. He says, "Because of you." And when we do what God shows us, this brings hope! Don't take your marriage and look for the flaws. That's too easy. We all fall short. Your spouse doesn't need an inspector telling him where he has failed and what needs to be changed. "Your spouse desires a partner to join in the journey called life.   16. 2081072 The Wonderful MessIt's easy to lose track of all that's going on with a busy schedule. Between shopping and activities, you're just in a big mess. But let's make it the wonderful mess! During the busy time of the year, holidays or normal life, I find that we are wrapped up in all of our "stuff". Desire to be supported and encourage by other like-minded women? What's wrong with us? As I was shopping all day yesterday, with the exception of when we went to church, I was amazed how people were shopping for the perfect gift, but their attitude was a mess. My son told me how surprised he was to see the grumpy people. And when we said, "Merry Christmas", they looked at you like we were weird. They were living in their mess. And fine with it. Yet we all have messes. Some worse than others. But a mess is a mess! The thing is... there can be better messes. That's when you include Christ. My son was telling me about the Xmas party. And I quickly said, "The Christmas party?!" He was like "Nope! It's called the Xmas party!" Well understand that he's always been raised with us calling Christmas, Christmas. We never shorten it. So therefore, he never knew or heard of Xmas. I explained to him how the "X" is crossing out Christ in Christmas. And without Christ, there would be no Christmas. For those who don't believe, they are using it as excuses to go shopping and buy things. But Christ makes Christmas. The world is already a mess. But with Jesus coming as a little baby in the flesh, it made it the wonderful mess! The K.I.S.S. ~ Welcome Jesus in your mess! REFLECTION: How are you living in your mess? It's like the deep dark. One cold night, I was outside. The wind howled and the crisp air chilled my nose. I looked up into the night's sky, only to see more black. But as I rotated and shifted my position, there it was. A single star shining bright lighting up the deepest of the night. That's what you do! The K.I.S.S. ~ Let your light shine!   19. 2111075 Hope for a Healthy HolidayIf you haven't noticed, the holidays are around the corner and your celebrations have already begun. There's hope for a healthy holiday, you just have to be ready for one. However, not is not the time to start something brand new. You don't want to keep yourself from being you. But the twist is this ---- If you are wanting to change something regarding your health, now is NOT the time. But there's still hope for a a healthy holiday. It's just wrapped a little differently. Probably with a little more leisure, love, and laughter. The K.I.S.S. ~ Seek hope! And where you seek, you will find. FOOD Food is pretty important. But it's not about the food. "The hope is found in the memories we create around food." We all think food is what make the party. But in actuality, it's the memories, the experiences we connect to. For me, it's chocolate peanut clusters. The three generations on both sides of our family has candy-making in the genes. The importance of peanut clusters is not about the sweet and salty. It's about the heart! FAMILY  That family brings hope to the unknown. It's a place of acceptance, love, and forgiveness. Family can be blood or close friends. It can be a phone call away or as close as a heart to hug. Let hope be infused by your family. Even when it's tough, there's always hope. FELLOWSHIP This is probably one of my favorites, because it's the stories from the ones you love and all the traditions. For me, it's the two Christmas trees. The holidays can be challenging. But if you listen, it draws you closer to your own heart! "There is hope for a healthy holiday. The children and I were baking and readying the gifts for all the teachers. Now one of my kiddos isn't thrilled to give gifts. He doesn't like to draw attention to himself. His response again this year, "No everybody else does it." My response, "It's not about what everybody else does." A lot of us are doing what everyone else does. We are pretending. Trying to look all put together. We adorn our walls with our accomplishments and fill it with stuff that says we made it. But when you take all the walls and stuff down, what's left? First off, how do you and your spouse get through the holidays? Stress can really tug on your heart and your patience. Desire to be supported and encourage by other like-minded women? Now that you're breathing, I want to tell you my crazy holiday. My hubby always makes time to wrap gifts, clean the house, and watch football. Then somehow, I squeeze in all the other holiday stuff on the list like... Buy presents, check it twice. Wrap the gifts. Send the gifts. Shop for the food. Make cookies, all the yummy for the tummy. See the lights. This is pretty basic. But it's a great start. However, we are going to switch it up. The focus on the list should not be about all the stuff. THE GIFT by Terry Cook You've spent long hours shopping friend, to find that perfect gift.  It has to say just how you feel, it should give them a lift. The mall it is so busy now, what with this time of year. The Musak plays loud overhead, but is it worth it dear? You spend more than you really should, use cash and plastic too. But is it really the price tag, that gives the gift value? You even wrap it really nice, and on it put a bow. You want it to be oh so right, you want your love to show. They say it's better just to give, than for us to receive. But if I don't accept your gift, just how will you believe? In order for you to be blest, to help you fully live. Someone must reach out and receive, all of the gifts you give. So next time someone comes to you, say from the God above. Don't shy away or act too proud, accept the gift with love. REFLECTION ~ What's really important? It's the gift of God gave over two thousand years ago. We're always looking for light in all the dark places! Today marks a day of celebration. A celebration that has already come to give you love. It's not what is happening now, but what God gifted the world thousands of years ago. Luke 2:1-14 In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. (This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.) And everyone went to his own town to register. So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks by night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, "Do no be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger." Suddenly a great company of heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace goodwill to men." God sent His light to this fallen world. This bright light which is freely given to you. What is enough for you? More importantly... WHO is enough? It's Jesus Christ! This bright light gifted to us by God, the creator of the universe. There's no bearing on what's happening, but what happened. Love has come. Joy to the world! The K.I.S.S. ~ Joy to the World! Where are you going to find meaning and purpose? Your earthly addictions? Where are you going to find inspiration and hope? You find it in the ONE who is the true light that gives light to everyone! (John 1:9) When you choose this little babe wrapped in swaddling clothes lying in a manger, all from humble beginnings, you experience God's light in your darkness. Joy to the world! Love has come.
