He also makes clear the severe penalties for breaking these laws. It’s interesting reading, but I’ll let you read it for yourself.   5. 269What Does the Bible Say About Complaining Women?After covering all the laws in Leviticus and Numbers, Moses switches back to stories in Numbers 10. He picks up when the Hebrews left Mount Sinai and explains the procedure for their packing up and traveling. Numbers 11 opens with the people complaining. Bad attitudes are contagious.   8. 272Who Was Cozbi in the Bible?The Hebrew people settled awhile in Acacia Grove in Moab, and while they were there, the men began to commit harlotry with the women of Moab. The Moabite women invited the Hebrews to come make sacrifices to their gods, and they did.One of these Moabite women was Cozbi, daughter of Zur, a Midian king. She married Zimri, son of Salu, a leader of a father’s house among the Simeonites.   11. 275Old Testament Laws Concerning WomenIn Deuteronomy 21-22 we find several laws related to women. In 21:10-14 we find rules for men who take woman as captives of war. In verses 15-17 are rules for men who have two wives, one who is loved and one who is unloved. And in chapter 22:13-30 are laws of sexual morality. These laws are hard for us to understand since their culture was so different that ours. But one thing stands out in each of them.   16. 280Rahab Rescued and RedeemedAs everyone else panicked, Rahab calmly gathered together her family members and waited for the Israelites to destroy Jericho. While the Israelites were capturing the city, the two spies went to Rahab’s house and rescued Rahab and her family. The two men took them to the outskirts of the Israelite camp.Rahab went on to marry Salmon, from the line of Judah, and her great, great grandson was King David. Her faith is praised in Hebrews 11:31. Othniel took the challenge and succeeded, and was thus rewarded with Achsah as his wife. Achsah, however, was no trophy wife. She was a woman with the ability to analyze a situation and devise a solution to a potential problem. Deborah knew that God was speaking to him, but he wasn’t responding. They brought with them an army of ten thousand men under Barak’s command. After they got into position, word reached Sisera that Barak had gone up to Mount Tabor, so Sisera gathered together all his chariots and his entire army. Sisera’s army waited at the bottom of the mountain convinced that victory was theirs. But God had other plans.At the appointed time, Deborah gave the command to Barak to make his move. She reminded him that the Lord had delivered Sisera into his hands and gone before him in battle.
