The Rise of Infanticide Advocacy 0:10 Welcome to the video series based on the book, Reversed from Culturally Woke to Biblically Awake. So glad you're with us and we're looking now at chapter 28 entitled0:22 The Young and Infaticide. Now the last chapter we talked about was the aged and euthanasia. Now we're switching to the opposite, the young0:34 and infanticide. The very fact that we have to write a chapter like this is is jolting. It's stunning. Princeton University has a professor by the name of Peter0:46 Singer. He's a professor of bioethics. Now catch that. Bioethics. Professor of involving ethics. And Peter Singer has made himself very famous0:58 by virtue of believing that a child could be killed in the early weeks or months of its life after birth, legitimately. Let us1:10 soak in a a professor at a prestigious Ivy League institution think it's okay to kill a baby after it's being born if the parents think it's too much of an1:21 inconvenience. Unfortunately, he's not the only 1 who thinks that way. Dominic James Wilkinson writings said, well, allowing an infant to die is okay if the infant's child infant's1:33 life would not be worth living. Really? According to whom? A professor John Harris, British Medical Association's ethic committee, and professor of bioethics1:45 at University of Manchester. He says, I don't think infanticide is always unjustifiable. He said, is there any moral change that occurs down the journey down the birth1:57 canal? In other words, if we kill them in abortion, why is it any different if they just made the journey down the birth canal? Now at least he's consistent on that. He's actually essentially bright.2:09 But that baby shouldn't be killed after birth and should not be killed before birth. Shouldn't be killed in abortion. That's the situation we find ourselves facing today.2:21 Now we recognize there are hard cases where babies are born with all kinds of challenges. We'll mention that more in a moment. And we do admit we wouldn't want somebody on a machine as the only2:33 device to sustain their heartbeat or a a a brain that when a brain's not functioning, we recognize that artificial means keeping a person alive is not justifiable.2:45 But the deprive depriving of of food and hydration is is not acceptable. And that's a completely different, category.2:56 Infanticide or any kind of killing of a baby is always morally wrong. Peter Singer of Princeton University, who I referred to a moment ago,3:08 is actually willing to admit. He says there's no distinction between abortion and infanticide. What an admission. In other words, he admits that killing a baby before birth is3:20 no different than killing a baby after birth. And he advocates for both the killing of babies up to at some 0.28 days. There was legislation in my own state of California at 1 point3:32 being considered by the California state legislature that would allow a family to do exactly that, to kill their baby within the 1st few weeks after it was born.3:44 Now, how do we offset this horrific pagan thinking? It all starts with God. If you begin with the premise, there is a God, and he is3:56 the creator, and he's the determiner of life, determiner of when life is over. So it all starts with the issue of God.4:08 Life is precious to him. And if it's precious to him, it should be precious to us. Now what about in the cases where there's disabilities? Let me give a story that I've I've told on a4:20 number of occasions. I believe I even may have told in my earlier book called Well Versed. We were in front of an abortion clinic. We were praying, praying against the spirit of death on a Saturday morning.4:33 Young women were going in and having abortions. We were trying to talk to them as best we could. We were able to talk to some. And in 1 particular case, a4:44 conversation started between 1 of the leaders of our group and a young woman on her way to have an abortion. She said, well, my my child is terribly deformed. I know this from sonogram. I know4:56 this my child is horribly deformed. And the leader of the pro life group says, look, If we can find somebody who will love your baby, who will take yourCherishing Life with Disabilities 5:08 baby, who will give their lives to raising your baby, deformed or not, would you agree not to have your baby killed right now? And that young mother agreed.5:20 Now the problem was, who's gonna take the baby? My friend made 1 phone call. 1 phone call. He called a couple he knew. He says, let me ask you a hard question. Would you be willing to5:32 adopt a baby that is deformed? And he described the deformity the young mother described to him. They said, yes. Yes. We'll we'll take that baby to save its life. We absolutely will. They knew what5:44 that meant in their own personal lives, The radical change. But they were fiercely committed that God has ordained life. Peter Singer would say, well, we5:55 should kill a baby if it has maybe it has 1 less limb, or maybe a cleft palate or maybe it's Down syndrome. In our family is a Down syndrome young boy, my6:07 my nephew. And little Robbie has blessed our home in ways I cannot describe, our whole family system. When we're together, he's he's6:19 often kind of the center of attention. He's so remarkable. Even when he's he's gone through it times where he'll go 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 years without saying a word.6:31 But his smile is contagious. 1 time I was staying at my brother's house, and they put me they moved Robbie out of his room so my wife and I could have that room to stay overnight. And,6:44 I came back for went down to breakfast, came back upstairs for breakfast, and Robbie had gone into the room, drug all my suitcases, our suitcases, out in the hallway.6:56 I saw them out there. I thought, what is going on? I stepped into the bedroom, and there was Robbie sitting on his bed with the biggest smile, a victorious smile on his face. I have reclaimed my7:08 room. And we've loved 100 other stories like that, life with Robbie. Now if Peter Singer had his way, he would say, get rid of that kid. Yet7:19 Robbie lives in a group home. He functions well. He would get paid a few cents an hour to to assemble some things involving, putting some product into boxes.7:32 He couldn't do very many, but he could do some. And he has been productive. He has he loves life. He enjoys life. And he's been a huge blessing7:44 to our family system. God created life. We gotta cherish it. It's taking us from culturally woke to biblically awake.7:57 Let us pray. Lord, we lift up to you all those who are living with disabilities. We pray for strength, healing, and comfort for eachPrayer and Closing Reflection 8:09 individual and for their families who bear the burden of their care. Help us to see each person's unique gifts and potential and to celebrate the beauty of these gifts that8:21 they bring to our world. We thank you for the courage and resilience of those with disabilities, and we ask you for continued guidance. We know, Lord, that each 1 has8:32 a spectacular ability that you have given them. May it be recognized and may it be exalted, and may each person be honored in8:44 the path that they have in this life, knowing that you are their shepherd, you are their God, and you are the restorer of all things. In Jesus' name, amen.8:57 We hope you enjoyed the video. Thank you so much for watching. Hey. Don't forget to check out this discussion questions that are attached.
