Today’s prayer
Written prayerFather, I can’t imagine how Solomon felt having to walk in his father David’s shoes. His father was an inspiration to all God’s people and Solomon must have been humbled at the staggering task of ruling in his place. I would have begged God to show me the same generosity of wisdom and knowledge he gave my father before me if I were in his place. I would have been totally dependent on you to give me favor to accomplish your purposes for your people. He knew he wasn’t capable of leading your people on his own. That attitude of total dependence on you is the right attitude for a righteous leader. If I think I can do it on my own I am filled with pride and my own arrogance. I will surely fail if I lean on my own strengths. A true leader is a servant of the people and relies on the wisdom of God to make the right decisions for the people. The people look to their leaders to reveal God’s character, and wisdom to give them strength and inspiration. Great Leadership requires great sacrifice. It requires much prayer to seek God’s wisdom and direction for the people. Father, keep me close to you at all times and ever humble in your presence.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
