The prayer
Written prayerLord, I love how you are always looking out for the littlest forgotten ones. You never raise up the proud and accomplished to lead your people. You look at the heart of the person and look for tenderness of heart. Though Bethlehem was little among the mighty you never overlooked her. You chose that small town to bring forth the messiah to rule Israel as prophesied long ago. Your word says despise not small beginnings. You lift up the humble and bring down the proud. Keep me humble Lord and may I always remember the precious baby born on Christmas day to save the world. That baby was the king of the Jews and humbled himself unto death. There is no greater love than that of a man who would lay down his life for another. It’s hard to imagine that kind of sacrificial love. I bow before you and ask forgiveness for my selfishness and pride. Cleanse me lord and make me a conduit of your love to all those I meet today. Let me give them a word of encouragement and look to be a blessing rather than to be blessed. Let me not overlook the least among the many. I pray the world will see Jesus in me during this season when the world is in need of your love. In Jesus name. amen.
