Global Prayer on John 1:11

He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

John 1:11 · KJV

The prayer

Written prayer

Lord, how sad it must have been for you when those of your own nation, your kindred family, did not acknowledge you as the messiah they had long waited for. How could they not see the truth of who you were? They weren’t prepared for the Servant King. They expected a powerful warrior king who would overthrow the Roman armies and establish a throne like the other nations. They couldn’t believe a carpenter's son born in a stable could be the king of the Jews. They only saw the man of flesh not the word incarnate. You offended their pride and they rejected your message of forgiveness and mercy. Man looks at the outward appearance but you, Lord, look at the heart. Purify my heart Lord, so I don’t project my expectations onto you. Open my eyes to see what you see when you look at us. Don’t let my heart grow hard and proud but keep me humble and kind. Make me exceptionally generous this Christmas so that the love of God can abound in my heart and be spread to all those around me. I receive you Lord and am grateful you have a home in my heart. You are most welcome here. In Jesus name, amen.
