Global Prayer on Habakkuk 3:17-18

Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation.

Habakkuk 3:17-18 · KJV

The prayer

Written prayer

Father, there is a part of me that wants to laugh at the audacious faith exemplified in this verse. Nothing is going right for the poor person. He has no fruit on his vines, his olive orchard is about to fail, his flocks are cut off and he has no herds in his stalls YET he says “I will rejoice in the Lord''. He knows that the God of his salvation is worth more than any temporal blessing. He trusts in the goodness of God and if all he ever has in this life is his salvation he is joyful. He knows the value of eternal life with his God. It seems in his mind he is already living in his heavenly home filled with Joy no matter what befalls him. Father teach me how to access the truth of all you have done for me. Don’t let that revelation be just words but deep-rooted truth that holds me steady no matter what I face. The secret of joy is not to wait until you feel happy, but to rise, by an act of faith, out of the depression, which is dragging you down, and begins to praise God as an act of choice. When all is gone you lord are always there. Teach me to always praise you in all things. In Jesus name, amen.
