View all- 1He Loves MeOur first aim in this series has been to encourage. These are difficult days for all of us. Many of us feel tired, jaded, discouraged, and flat. Some of us are anxious, fearful and even distressed at what the future might bring. We came to this Psalm looking to be refreshed. I have loved meditating on Psalm 23, and I have been moved to learn that many of you have been helped by it too.
- 2He Sustains MeAs we move through this Psalm, we are seeing why the greatest blessing any of us can ever know in life is to be wholly owned by the Son of God. Today we come to a fourth blessing that belongs to the flock of God. The Good Shepherd sustains me. That is, He gives me all that I need to keep going.
- 3He Guards MeToday we come to something that should encourage all who believe, and entice those who are yet to believe. These are days in which many of us feel jaded, tired, flat. It’s easy to get discouraged, and we are looking at this Psalm because God has used it to encourage His people for more than 3000 years.
- 4He Restores MeWe’ve seen the greatest blessing is to be wholly owned by the Son of God—bought and born into His flock. When you belong to God's flock, there are certain things the Shepherd will do for you. And because He is your shepherd, you can be sure of them. Last time, we saw the Shepherd will lead you: into rest and righteousness.

- 6He Owns MeI expect that for all of us there are gems of wisdom that we hear once and never forget. One of these gems for me came from Warren Wiersbe, an esteemed pastor. He was speaking at a conference and in a question and answer session he was asked what he would do differently if he had his ministry life over again. “If I had my time over again,” he said, “I would encourage God’s people more.”
