- 73#68 is it Biblical or Tradition? | Are we Subject to the Authority of the Rabbis? | Podcast with Joseph Dumond Part 1I want to preface this by saying, the purpose of this episode is not meant to condemn the Rabbis; but rather to challenge that status quo on the topic of the Biblical calendar presented to us in Exodus. In this episode Joe and I discuss how the Hillel calendar was installed and then tweaked over the course of hundreds of years. Fast forward to our current day, if you even hint at challenging the Rabbis on the calendar front then you are guilty of disobeying their authority, supposedly given to them in Deut 17:9. This verse has been wildly miss-appropriated to give the Rabbis authority that trumps the very Bible itself. If this authority is granted them then they almost of unilateral authority in almost all areas pertaining to religion and daily life. This is why Jesus challenged this idiology when it was in its infancy in the first century and ultimately was the reason why they killed him. Tradition wins at the end of the day, and what we were handed was a calendar that is based on tradition rather than Biblial truths. This is really why God has raised up a man like Joseph Dumond to dig through the annuls of history to prove this work with archeological evidence combined with scripture in order to help us get back to Yehovah’s true calendar. God’s calendar is based on observations and not pre-calculations and that it the first thing we have understand. When the Barely is ripe (Aviv) then you know that you are in the first month of the year base on Deut 16 and Exodus 12:2 Deu 16:1 Observe the month of Abib, and keep the passover unto the LORD thy God: for in the month of Abib the LORD thy God brought thee forth out of Egypt by night. Exo 12:2 This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you. The Hillel calendar ends the year at Tishri, which is the seventh month of the barley calendar. So, how are we to reconcile keeping this? If we begin the year in Tishri we are disobeying the commandment of God! Do the Rabbis know better than Yehovah? Certainly not! The point of this conversation is not to condemn the Rabbis but rather post a rebuttal to the traditions that has been handed down to us without question. We should all be asking ourselves these why we keep a calendar based off of assumptions and man made calculations. But here is what came to me as Joe and I were discussing this, is that in Judaism they are denying the Bible by obeying the Rabbis and disregarding the barely calendar; And in Christianity, they are denying the Bible by saying that the Laws and Commandments of God have passed away, based on their interpretive traditions. Both Christians and Jews are guilty of deny the Bible based on tradition. This is the very thing that Jesus was trying to help us to understand and yet, men on both sides of the fence are denying Him based on tradition. Let’s get back the Bible folks and understand that God gave us a calendar to Observe, to look, to go outside and touch grass! As we get farther into the technological age we are seeing how detached we are from knowing the times and the seasons. Now we are dependent on our phones to tell us what month/day it is. So, how does anyone feel secure in the expected coming of the Messiah? The lazy approach is, oh well, we’ll just wait for Him to return before we figure this stuff out. But that’s not what the Bible says. The Bibles tells us that He is not coming back until the restoration of all things. Act 3:20 And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you: Act 3:21 Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began. Mat 17:11 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Elias truly shall first come, and restore all things. Elijah must first come and restore all things before the return of our Messiah. This is the entire purpose of the two witnesses in Revelation. You cannot understand this, unless you understand the times and the season detailed in the Torah (Books of Moses). There are many things that were omitted in the New Testament, because the early church were widely aware of the times and seasons, therefore there was no need to write about it. Paul tells us this in 1 Thessalonians. 1Th 5:1 But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. 1Th 5:2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. But it won’t take them like a thief in the night, why? Because they are fully aware of the times and the seasons. 1Th 5:4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. - 74#67 Choose This Day Whom You Shall ServeZion’s Coming Salvation Isa 62:1 For Zion’s sake I will not be silent, and for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest, until its righteousness goes out as brightness, and her salvation as a burning lamp. Isa 62:2 And the nations will see your righteousness, and all kings your glory; and you will be called by a new name, which the mouth of Jehovah will name. Isa 62:3 You also will be a crown of glory in the hand of Jehovah, and a royal diadem in the hand of your God. Isa 62:4 You will no more be called Forsaken; nor will your land any more be called Desolate; but you will be called My Delight is in her, and your land, Married; for Jehovah delights in you, and your land is married. Isa 62:5 For as a young man marries a virgin, so will your sons marry you; and as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride, so will your God rejoice over you. Isa 62:6 I have set watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem, who will not always be silent all the day nor all the night; you who remember Jehovah, do not be silent. Isa 62:7 And give Him no rest until He establishes and makes Jerusalem a praise in the earth. Isa 62:9 But its gatherers will eat it and praise Jehovah; and they who collected it will drink it in My holy courts. Isa 62:10 Pass! Pass through the gates; prepare the way of the people. Raise up! Raise up the highway; gather out the stones; lift up a banner for the peoples. Isa 62:11 Behold, Jehovah has sent a message to the end of the earth, Tell the daughter of Zion, Behold, your salvation comes. Behold, His reward is with Him, and His work before Him. Isa 62:12 And they will call them, The Holy People, The Redeemed of Jehovah; and you will be called, Sought Out, a city not forsaken. What is the Difference Between The Wheat and the tares? In the parable of the wheat and the tares (Matthew 13:24-30, 36-43 MKJV), Yehshua uses a real agricultural reality to illustrate a profound spiritual truth. Wheat (good seed sown by the Son of Man) produces full, heavy grains that bow the stalk under their weight—valuable, harvestable seed that becomes bread and sustains life. Tares (darnel, a poisonous weed sown by the enemy) look almost identical to wheat while growing, but when mature, their heads remain upright and their “seeds” are small, black, lightweight, and worthless for food (often toxic if ground into flour). Mat 13:24 He put out another parable to them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is compared to a man who sowed good seed in his field. Mat 13:25 But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed darnel among the wheat and went his way. Mat 13:26 But when the blade had sprung up and had produced fruit, then the darnel also appeared. Mat 13:27 So the servants of the householder came and said to him, Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? Then where have the darnel come from? Mat 13:28 He said to them, An enemy has done this. The servants said to him, Then do you want us to go and gather them up? Mat 13:29 But he said, No, lest while you gather up the darnel you also root up the wheat with them. Mat 13:30 Let both grow together until the harvest. And in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, First gather together the darnel and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my granary. Yehshua explains the meaning of this parable in the following verses. Mat 13:36 Then sending the crowds away, Jesus went into the house. And His disciples came to Him, saying, Explain to us the parable of the darnel of the field. Mat 13:37 He answered and said to them, He who sows the good seed is the Son of Man; Mat 13:38 the field is the world; the good seed are the sons of the kingdom; but the darnel are the sons of the evil one. Mat 13:39 The enemy who sowed them is the Devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels. Mat 13:40 Therefore as the darnel are gathered and burned in the fire, so it shall be in the end of this world. Mat 13:41 The Son of Man shall send out His angels, and they shall gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who do iniquity, Mat 13:42 and shall cast them into a furnace of fire. There shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. Mat 13:43 Then the righteous shall shine out like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears to hear, let him hear. The wheat represents the true children of the kingdom—those who, by abiding in Yehshua, bear lasting spiritual fruit. Their lives produce “full grains”—righteous works, obedience to Torah, love, and souls won for the kingdom that endure into eternity. Jhn 15:1 I am the True Vine, and My Father is the Vinedresser. Jhn 15:2 Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes away. And every one that bears fruit, He prunes it so that it may bring forth more fruit. Jhn 15:3 Now you are clean through the Word which I have spoken to you. Jhn 15:4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it remains in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me. Jhn 15:5 I am the Vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, the same brings forth much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. Jhn 15:6 If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered. And they gather and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. Jhn 15:7 If you abide in Me, and My Words abide in you, you shall ask what you will, and it shall be done to you. Jhn 15:8 In this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit, so you shall be My disciples. Jhn 15:9 As the Father has loved Me, so I have loved you; continue in My love. Jhn 15:10 If you keep My commandments, you shall abide in My love, even as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love. Jhn 15:11 I have spoken these things to you so that My joy might remain in you and your joy might be full. Jhn 15:12 This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Jhn 15:13 No one has greater love than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. Jhn 15:14 You are My friends if you do whatever I command you. The tares, sown by the devil, may mimic wheat outwardly (attending services, speaking religious words, even performing signs), but they produce no harvestable fruit.Their “seed” is empty, poisonous, and worthless—lives that bear no lasting righteousness, only deception and destruction. At the harvest (end of the age), the difference becomes undeniable: wheat is gathered into the barn (eternal life), tares are bound and burned (judgment). This agricultural detail underscores Yehshua’s warning. Your fruitfulness or the lack thereof reveals your identity. Mat 7:15 Beware of false prophets who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Mat 7:16 You shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thorns, or figs from thistles? Mat 7:17 Even so every good tree brings forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree brings forth evil fruit. Mat 7:18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruits, nor can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Mat 7:19 Every tree that does not bring forth good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Mat 7:20 Therefore by their fruits you shall know them. I Never Knew You Mat 7:21 Not everyone who says to Me, Lord! Lord! shall enter the kingdom of Heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in Heaven. Mat 7:22 Many will say to Me in that day, Lord! Lord! Did we not prophesy in Your name, and through Your name throw out demons, and through Your name do many wonderful works? Mat 7:23 And then I will say to them I never knew you! Depart from Me, those working lawlessness! The Greek word for “lawlessness” here is anomia—literally “without law” or “Torah-lessness.” These people performed impressive works and called Him “Lord,” but they lived in rebellion against Yehovah’s commandments. Yehshua did not “know” them because they did not truly know Him—they never entered the intimate relationship that comes through obedience to the Father’s will, which is keeping His Torah. Yehshua makes this explicit in the same chapter: “Not everyone who says to Me, Lord! Lord! shall enter the kingdom of Heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in Heaven”. Doing the Father’s will is not optional; it is signs and wonders—it is living according to His instructions. So how do we get to know Yehovah and Yehshua? The Bible repeatedly ties “knowing” God to obedience, love expressed through the commandments, and walking in His ways: 1Jn 2:3 And by this we know that we have known Him, if we keep His commandments. 1Jn 2:4 He who says, I have known Him, and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 1Jn 2:5 But whoever keeps His Word, truly in this one the love of God is perfected. By this we know that we are in Him. 1Jn 2:6 He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk even as He walked. Jhn 14:15 If you love Me, keep My commandments. Jhn 14:21 He who has My commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves Me. And he who loves Me shall be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will reveal Myself to him. 1Jn 5:2 By this we know that we love the children of God, whenever we love God and keep His commandments. 1Jn 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments, and His commandments are not burdensome. Hos 6:6 For I desired mercy and not sacrifice, and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings. Those who called Him Lord refused to do what He commanded—keeping the Father’s Torah out of love. Knowledge of God is not intellectual or emotional alone; it is an intimate relationship, proven by walking in His commandments. Those who live in lawlessness, no matter their miracles or words, remain strangers to Him. The wheat full of fruit, bows humbly under the weight of its grain; the tares stand proud but empty. We are commanded to produce fruit worthy of repentance—visible evidence of a changed life through obedience, good works, and righteousness. This “fruit” is not optional but is the proof of genuine faith and repentance. Mat 3:8 Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance; Act 26:20 But to those first in Damascus, and Jerusalem, and to all the country of Judea, and to the nations, I made known the command to repent and to turn to God, doing works worthy of repentance What are the fruits we are to be producing? As you read this, take note of the fruits of the flesh which we are not to produce. Gal 5:16 I say, then, Walk in the Spirit and you shall not fulfill the lusts of the flesh. Gal 5:17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh. And these are contrary to one another; lest whatever you may will, these things you do. Gal 5:18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under law. Gal 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are clearly revealed, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lustfulness, Gal 5:20 idolatry, sorcery, hatreds, fightings, jealousies, angers, rivalries, divisions, heresies, Gal 5:21 envyings, murders, drunkennesses, revelings, and things like these; of which I tell you before, as I also said before, that they who do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. Gal 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is: love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faith, Gal 5:23 meekness, self-control; against such things there is no law. Gal 5:24 But those belonging to Christ have crucified the flesh with its passions and lusts. Gal 5:25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in theSpirit. Gal 5:26 Let us not become glory-seeking, provoking one another, envying one another. You now have a clear list of the works of the flesh. We must now include James’s infamous words on faith and works. Jas 2:14 My brothers, what profit is it if a man says he has faith and does not have works? Can faith save him? Jas 2:15 If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, Jas 2:16 and if one of you says to them, Go in peace, be warmed and filled, but you do not give them those things which are needful to the body, what good is it? Jas 2:17 Even so, if it does not have works, faith is dead, being by itself. Jas 2:18 But someone will say, You have faith, and I have works. Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith from my works. Jas 2:19 You believe that there is one God, you do well; even the demons believe and tremble. Jas 2:20 But will you know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? Jas 2:21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? Jas 2:22 Do you see how faith worked with his works, and from the works faith was made complete? Jas 2:23 And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was imputed to him for righteousness, and he was called the friend of God.” Jas 2:24 You see then how a man is justified by works, and not by faith only. Jas 2:25 And in the same way, was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works when she had received the messengers and had sent them out another way? Jas 2:26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. These verses show that fruit worthy of repentance is commanded—obedience, righteousness, and good works flowing from true faith. Without it, one risks being cut off. In these last days, let us examine our lives—are we producing the full, life-giving grain of the kingdom, or standing upright with nothing to offer at the harvest? Wheat bears good fruit; tares look similar but are false and bear nothing worth harvesting. This is very plain and simple. It is the obedience to Yehovah vs. rebellion. What does this look like today, in practical terms? Does your study life bring you to know Yehovah, or does it lead you away from knowing anything about Him? Do the things you study lead you to do works demonstrating your faith, or are they works not worthy of being followed by others? Paul warned us of these days we are in now. 2Ti 4:1 Therefore I solemnly witness before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who is going to judge the living and the dead according to His appearance and His kingdom, 2Ti 4:2 preach the Word, be instant in season and out of season, reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long-suffering and doctrine. 2Ti 4:3For a time will be when they will not endure sound doctrine, but they will heap up teachers to themselves according to their own lusts, tickling the ear. 2Ti 4:4 And they will turn away their ears from the truth and will be turned to myths. 2Ti 4:5 But you watch in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fully carry out your ministry. Paul also wrote the following condemning words and each of us must consider them: 2Th 2:1 Now we beseech you, my brothers, with regard to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, 2Th 2:2 that you should not be soon shaken in mind or troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word or letter, as through us, as if the Day of Christ is at hand. 2Th 2:3 Let not anyone deceive you by any means. For that Day shall not come unless there first comes a falling away, and the man of sin shall be revealed, the son of perdition, 2Th 2:4 who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God, or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, setting himself forth, that he is God. 2Th 2:5 Do you not remember that I told you these things when I was still with you? 2Th 2:6 And now you know what holds back, for him to be revealed in his own time. 2Th 2:7 For the mystery of lawlessness is already working, only he is now holding back until it comes out of the midst. 2Th 2:8 And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the breath of His mouth and shall destroy with the brightness of His coming, 2Th 2:9 whose coming is according to the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, 2Th 2:10 and with all deceit of unrighteousness in those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, so that they might be saved. 2Th 2:11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie, 2Th 2:12 so that all those who do not believe the truth, but delight in unrighteousness, might be condemned. The key scriptures I’m referring to are 2 Thessalonians 2:10-12 and 2 Tim 4:3-4, which directly link a lack of love for the truth to a desire to seek out deception and myths. You cannot fall away from the truth unless you are first following Torah. This message is to the elect. Those same elect that if possible, Satan would be able to deceive. Mat 24:24 For false Christs and false prophets will arise and show great signs and wonders; so much so that, if it were possible, they would deceive even the elect. 1Jn 4:1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but try the spirits to see if they are of God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. It is the elect who know Torah that will follow false prophets and go after them, seeking these myths and deceptive teachings. Paul warns about the end times when the “man of sin” is revealed, which is our time right now. Those who reject the truth (the gospel and Yehovah’s commandments) and do not develop a love for the truth of the Torah, never embrace it with their whole heart. Because of this, Yehovah allows a “strong delusion” to come upon them, leading them to believe lies, and because they do this, they face condemnation. The phrase emphasizes that salvation requires not just hearing the truth, but loving and living it. A related verse reinforcing this is Hosea 4:6. Hos 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I will also reject you from being priest to Me. Since you have forgotten the Law of your God, I will also forget your sons, even I. Conspiracy theories, while often captivating, divert believers from the heart of Scripture: knowing Yehovah through obedience to His commandments as we just showed you in 1 John 2:3-4. And by this we know that we have known Him, if we keep His commandments. 4 He who says, I have known Him, and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. Think about this. All of these conspiracies are made up and/or flat-out lies. Are you serving Yehovah or Satan by spreading lies? Have some of these conspiracy theories become your god? This is then idolatry. We all know many “Brethren” who are experts in each and every one of them, spending endless hours reading or watching videos to learn more about them, chasing these deceptions—researching, debating, and spreading them—which, in the end, robs them of the time they could have spent studying Torah. They are spreading and fostering fear over faith and division over unity. Below, I examine each theory chronologically by origin so you can see when this myth or lie began. I will then assess whether it’s factual or a lie, and explain how it hinders understanding of Yehovah by prioritizing speculation over His revealed will. The will of Yehovah is that we keep the Commandments. - 75#66 B‘resheit – Firstfruits From the Beginning | Podcast with Sombra WilsonThe very first Hebrew word in the bible is B‘resheit. We translate it as “In the Beginning” and that’s a very good way to begin the Bible, but this is deeper than a “starting point” or a reference to the time of creation. Preparing for the coming of Passover in the next few months, we have been looking at the Passover Story and its meaning to be hopped over, chosen. We are chosen to go forward, to leave Egypt and become the New Creation, The Bride of Christ. In order to be that Bride of Christ, we need to be a FirstFruit. So let’s dig into this word for FirstFruit to understand what it means and how we become FirstFruit. Let’s read Leviticus 23:4-14 to refresh our minds about these feast days. 4 “These are the appointed feasts of the Lord, the holy convocations, which you shall proclaim at the time appointed for them. 5 In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month at twilight,[a] is the Lord’s Passover. 6 And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the Feast of Unleavened Bread to the Lord; for seven days you shall eat unleavened bread. 7 On the first day you shall have a holy convocation; you shall not do any ordinary work. 8 But you shall present a food offering to the Lord for seven days. On the seventh day is a holy convocation; you shall not do any ordinary work.” The Feast of Firstfruits 9 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 10 “Speak to the people of Israel and say to them, When you come into the land that I give you and reap its harvest, you shall bring the sheaf of the firstfruits of your harvest to the priest, 11 and he shall wave the sheaf before the Lord, so that you may be accepted. On the day after the Sabbath the priest shall wave it. 12 And on the day when you wave the sheaf, you shall offer a male lamb a year old without blemish as a burnt offering to the Lord. 13 And the grain offering with it shall be two tenths of an ephah[b] of fine flour mixed with oil, a food offering to the Lord with a pleasing aroma, and the drink offering with it shall be of wine, a fourth of a hin.[c] 14 And you shall eat neither bread nor grain parched or fresh until this same day, until you have brought the offering of your God: it is a statute forever throughout your generations in all your dwellings. The word for Firstfruit is reshiyt ר ֵ אשׁ ִ ית means the first, as in first place, time, order or rank (specifically a firstfruit): – beginning, chief (-est), principal thing. The first word in scripture places the letter bet before this word Resheit. As a preposition, the letter beit can mean, “in – into – within – on – for – as” Translators have chosen to use “IN” – as in “in the first place”, or “IN the beginning” Genesis 1:1 In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.We could also translate it as “For the Firstfruit” if we reread the Genesis 1:1 replacing that first word with this translation we read, For the Firstfruit, Yehovah created the Heavens and the Earth. If the Universe was created for the Firstfruit, we should know a little bit about this firstfruit. Remember the story of the Feast days is our story. It’s the love story between us and Yehovah, so if He is giving us a picture of these firstfruits, then this has something to do with us as His Chosen Bride. Yehovah created the Universe the heavens and the earth, and placed within it Adam- but Adam lost that position of resheit – firstfruit because he sinned against Yehovah, our Heavenly Father. Adam was cast out of the Garden and angels were placed as guards so he could not come back and eat from the Tree of Life. Genesis 3:22-24 22 Then the LORD God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of us in knowing good and evil. Now, lest he reach out his hand and take also of the tree of life and eat, and live forever—” 23 therefore the LORD God sent him out from the garden of Eden to work the ground from which he was taken. 24 He drove out the man, and at the east of the garden of Eden he placed the cherubim and a flaming sword that turned every way to guard the way to the tree of life. We have a similar story told to us from the Family of Israel. Jacob is father to 12 sons, and in Genesis 49, before his death, he speaks words of blessing over his sons, words of prophecy and guidance. This is what He says to Ruben Genesis 49:3-4 3 “Reuben, you are my firstborn, my might, and the firstfruits of my strength, preeminent in dignity and preeminent in power. 4 Unstable as water, you shall not have preeminence, because you went up to your father’s bed; then you defiled it—he went up to my couch! Reuben was the firstborn, he should have lived a life of dignity and power, that his descendants would be known as the firstborn of the House of Israel. But Reuben sinned against his father, he took to bed one of Jacob’s concubines – what should have been a blessing is now taken from him. The position of Firstborn has been given to another.We were designed to be the Firstfruit, but we too have sinned and lost our position of firstfruit. Shall we just hang our heads in despair and submit to this breach of relationship? Or shall we seek to find a way back, a way to restore the relationship, and thus restore our position as Firstfruit? This is the crux of the message of scripture. This is the meaning of the word Gospel, that we hear the message and follow the path back to the restored relationship. The word Firstborn in Hebrew is בְּכוֹר bekôr as in chief: – eldest (son), first-born (-ling)… it comes from the root word bâkar meaning to burst the womb, that is, to bear or make early fruit (of woman or tree); also to give the birthright. The Feast day mentioned in Leviticus 23:9-14 is called Yom HaBikkurim. Day of the firstborns. We are either firstborns that have been hopped over at Passover, or we are firstborns that have been cut down because we failed to put the blood on the doorposts of our hearts. Exodus 12:29-32 29 At midnight the LORD struck down all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sat on his throne to the firstborn of the captive who was in the dungeon, and all the firstborn of the livestock. 30 And Pharaoh rose up in the night, he and all his servants and all the Egyptians. And there was a great cry in Egypt, for there was not a house where someone was not dead. 31 Then he summoned Moses and Aaron by night and said, “Up, go out from among my people, both you and the people of Israel; and go, serve the LORD, as you have said. 32 Take your flocks and your herds, as you have said, and be gone, and bless me also!” Exodus 13:12-14 12 you shall set apart to the LORD all that first opens the womb. All the firstborn of your animals that are males shall be the LORD ‘s. 13 Every firstborn of a donkey you shall redeem with a lamb, or if you will not redeem it you shall break its neck. Every firstborn of man among your sons you shall redeem. 14 And when in time to come your son asks you, ‘What does this mean?’ you shall say to him, ‘By a strong hand the LORD brought us out of Egypt, from the house of slavery. Let’s look at this word Fruit – as the FirstFruit, or First Born, the Fruit of the Womb. Fruit is the word in פְּר ִ י perı̂y – bough, ([first-]) fruit ([-ful]), reward. The root of the word is the picture of an open mouth, and a head. Combined these mean “open the head”. The heads of grains are scattered on the threshing floor, a smooth, hard and level surface.and are trodden upon to reveal the grain within the chaff.We rarely think of grain as being fruit. We tend to think of fruit as being the sweet fruit from trees, like pawpaw (papaya), guava, or from the ground like watermelon or pineapple, but these grains are also fruit. They are what opens the head, or opens the womb of the earth to nourish us. How do we know if we are the firstfruit of Egypt or the FirstFruit of Israel. We are told we need to have the Fruit of the Spirit. Galatians 5:16-24 says 16 But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17 For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. 19 Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, 20 idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, 21 envy,[d] drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do[e] such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. 24 And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another. How are we living today? Do we have sweet fruit like that listed in verse 22? 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. Or is our fruit that of the flesh in verse 19-21 19 Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, 20 idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, 21 envy,[d] drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. If we have not left behind the Egypt of our past, if we have not let that part of us be healed; if we continue to walk in this flesh our fruit is bitterness, anger, fear – rotten fruit. And so while we may have been chosen, passed over, we still walk in the bondage that we suffered in Egypt. We have not become the Firstfruit that we were designed to be when Yehovah placed us in the Garden. We have not fulfilled our purpose as the whole reason for the Creation of the Universe. Let me show you what happened to the Children of Israel when they came out of Egypt. They went through the Red Sea, the Egyptians who pursued them had been destroyed inthe sea as the walls of water crashed down on them. They had seen with their eyes their past destroyed, they had in front of them absolute freedom. But they failed to see it, for they walked to the waters of Mara in their bitterness. Let’s read Psalm 126 When the LORD restored the fortunes of Zion, we were like those who dream. 2 Then our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue with shouts of joy; then they said among the nations, “The LORD has done great things for them.” 3 The LORD has done great things for us; we are glad. 4 Restore our fortunes, O LORD, like streams in the Negeb! 5 Those who sow in tears shall reap with shouts of joy! 6 He who goes out weeping, bearing the seed for sowing, shall come home with shouts of joy, bringing his sheaves with him. The Israelites had survived the Angel of Death, walked through the Red Sea, they had seen their salvation from Egypt, but they were in a daze, in a dream like state, their minds were not clear, and they still had the mindset of slaves though they were free. It was the Nations, who had to tell them they were free. We are like this too. Sometimes we have walked along the journey of our faith, we have come into the relationship with Yeshua, been chosen, and even been baptized, but we live still as if in a daze, as if we still have not realized that we are a new creation in Messiah. We are made in His Image and therefore should be reflecting His Sweet countenance, the sweet sweet fruit of the Spirit. That’s when we will know we are the FirstFruit that is to be offered up, to be redeemed. Let’s read what happened at Mara. Exodus 15: 22-27 22 Then Moses made Israel set out from the Red Sea, and they went into the wilderness of Shur. They went three days in the wilderness and found no water. 23 When they came to Marah, they could not drink the water of Marah because it was bitter; therefore it was named Marah.[b] 24 And the people grumbled against Moses, saying, “What shall wedrink?” 25 And he cried to the LORD, and the LORD showed him a log,[c] and he threw it into the water, and the water became sweet. There the LORD[d] made for them a statute and a rule, and there he tested them, 26 saying, “If you will diligently listen to the voice of the LORD your God, and do that which is right in his eyes, and give ear to his commandments and keep all his statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you that I put on the Egyptians, for I am the LORD, your healer. ” 27 Then they came to Elim, where there were twelve springs of water and seventy palm trees, and they encamped there by the water. That log, that Tree that Yehovah told them to throw into the waters to make the waters sweet was the Tree of Life, the Torah, The Teaching and Instruction of Yehovah. This is why we can not claim the Law is done away with, because it is the Law, the Torah that removes the bitterness and brings sweet sweet fruit to our lives, to our hearts, to our character. We know who these verses are talking about and who is bearing this good fruit. Isaiah 11:1-2 1 There shall come forth a shoot from the stump of Jesse, and a branch from his roots shall bear fruit. 2 And the Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the LORD. Of course this is speaking of Yeshua. Yeshua is the bough, the branch of the stump of Jesse. How does He bear Fruit? Through the Spirit of the Eternal God resting upon Him, The Spirit of Wisdom and Understanding, the Spirit of Counsel and might and the Spirit of Knowledge and Fear. It is this same Spirit in us that leads us to produce good fruit. And our good fruit will get us through the judgment that we might be the FirstFruit of the Wheat Harvest just as He is the FirstFruit of the Barley Harvest – this is all a picture of the resurrection.1 Corinthians 15:20 “But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep”. Adam opened the door to sin and death for all, while Jesus, the Second Adam, opened the way to spiritual life and redemption for those united with Him. 1 Corinthians 15:45-49 45 Thus it is written, “The first man Adam became a living being”;[a] the last Adam became a life-giving spirit. 46 But it is not the spiritual that is first but the natural, and then the spiritual. 47 The first man was from the earth, a man of dust; the second man is from heaven. 48 As was the man of dust, so also are those who are of the dust, and as is the man of heaven, so also are those who are of heaven. 49 Just as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall[b] also bear the image of the man of heaven. If we want to be restored to the Garden of Eden, to reflect the image of the Man of Heaven, we must do like the Children of Israel and put the Torah into our chaos, into the water, into the movement of our daily lives, that the Gospel that we were told comes to completion and that we are restored to Our Heavenly Father. We must move forward, away from the Egypt, away from the slavery to sin, and move towards the Wedding Feast that will bring us eternity with our BrideGroom. Isaiah 4:2-6 2 In that day the branch of the LORD shall be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the land shall be the pride and honor of the survivors of Israel. 3 And he who is left in Zion and remains in Jerusalem will be called holy, everyone who has been recorded for life in Jerusalem, 4 when the Lord shall have washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion and cleansed the bloodstains of Jerusalem from its midst by a spirit of judgment and by a spirit of burning.[a] 5 Then the LORD will create over the whole site of Mount Zion and over her assemblies a cloud by day, and smoke and the shining of a flaming fire by night; for over all the glory there will be a canopy. 6 There will be a booth for shade by day from the heat, and for a refuge and a shelter from the storm and rain.Remember when we talked about the smoke and the flaming fire as a picture of the sealing of the covenant after Sukkot? This is why it’s so important to not just “believe” the scriptures, but to actuall DO them, actually KEEP the Passover, Actually LEAVE Egypt and Die to sin and be REvived to LIFE – the LIFE Living out the Torah Isaiah 27:6 In days to come[b] Jacob shall take root, Israel shall blossom and put forth shoots and fill the whole world with fruit. I’m not sure how much of my testimony you all know. As a child I was raised in a house with abuse. Sexual abuse, physical abuse, emotional abuse. Because of the wound I carried from this abuse, I had very low self respect and carried a bad reputation. I had many many boyfriends from a very young age. At 23 I met Stuart and we began to date. We didn’t do things in Yehovah’s order, we dated, then lived together, then got engaged, then had a baby, then got married. But just before we got married, while we were doing premarital counselling, we met Jesus, both of us, same moment. From that moment on, my life began to change. From that moment until the wedding, 2 months later, we refrained from intimacy. We were baptized about a year after we met Jesus, but even though I had met Jesus and had been baptized – I was still living with the shame of the sin and pain from the wound of my childhood. I was easily angered, very defensive. It took time to learn that I was valuable and that I deserved to be protected, that I didn’t need to fight my own battles, that it was ok to let Stuart, and God, defend me and protect me. It was a process to learn not to seek the attention of other men. Much of the healing came as I began to forgive my dad – and my mom – for the trauma I had suffered as a child. But forgiving was not the only thing needed, I needed to repent too, for though I was sinned against – I also sinned. My behaviour was not lovely. 11 years later we learned about the Torah, and we began to keep Sabbath and the Feast days, and my relationship with Yehovah grew deeper and my healing increased even more. There were new layers of forgiving that I had to do, and new layers of repenting. I do believe if Yeshua returned today, He would say, well done good and faithful servant. But I can not rest on that. I can not say that I have arrived. I must keep on doing the work to get the leaven out of my life. I do spend time self reflecting and looking for any seeds of bitterness, anger, fear – I look for rotten fruit and do my best to purge it through forgiveness and repentance. I confess my sins to Yehovah and ask for forgiveness, and if it’s safe, confess to the one I have sinned against too, and I look to make sure the steps forward I am taking are free from repeating these sins again. And if I stumble oR fall, I’m quick to pick myself back up and try again. And I forgive myself. I do not hold on to the shame and guilt of my past. I release it. I freely accept the forgiveness Yehovah has offered me.My friends, I encourage you to be doing the same, for this is how we will be the Firstfruit of the Wheat Harvest when our BrideGroom comes for us. - 76#65 You May Take From The Sheep or The Goats | Podcast with Sombra WilsonIn continuing to prepare ourselves for the Passover this coming spring, let’s look at the first time the word Pesach – Passover is actually recorded in the scriptures and seek to understand this word in order to understand the meaning of this Feast Day. Exodus 12:1-14 12 The Lord said to Moses and Aaron in Egypt, 2 “This month is to be for you the first month, the first month of your year. 3 Tell the whole community of Israel that on the tenth day of this month each man is to take a lamb[a] for his family, one for each household. 4 If any household is too small for a whole lamb, they must share one with their nearest neighbor, having taken into account the number of people there are. You are to determine the amount of lamb needed in accordance with what each person will eat. 5 The animals you choose must be year-old males without defect, and you may take them from the sheep or the goats. 6 Take care of them until the fourteenth day of the month, when all the members of the community of Israel must slaughter them at twilight. 7 Then they are to take some of the blood and put it on the sides and tops of the doorframes of the houses where they eat the lambs. 8 That same night they are to eat the meat roasted over the fire, along with bitter herbs, and bread made without yeast. 9 Do not eat the meat raw or boiled in water, but roast it over a fire—with the head, legs and internal organs. 10 Do not leave any of it till morning; if some is left till morning, you must burn it. 11 This is how you are to eat it: with your cloak tucked into your belt, your sandals on your feet and your staff in your hand. Eat it in haste; it is the Lord’s Passover. 12 “On that same night I will pass through Egypt and strike down every firstborn of both people and animals, and I will bring judgment on all the gods of Egypt. I am the Lord. 13 The blood will be a sign for you on the houses where you are, and when I see the blood, I will pass over you. No destructive plague will touch you when I strike Egypt. 14 “This is a day you are to commemorate; for the generations to come you shall celebrate it as a festival to the Lord—a lasting ordinance. Why are we talking about the Passover again? Because each year it needs to be retaught. Even this chapter of Exodus tells us we will need to explain it to our children what we are doing and why over and over again. Exodus 12:26-27 26 And when your children ask you, ‘What does this ceremony mean to you?’ 27 then tell them, ‘It is the Passover sacrifice to the LORD, who passed over the houses of the Israelites in Egypt and spared our homes when he struck down the Egyptians.’” Then the people bowed down and worshiped. Chapter 11 of Exodus tells us about the First Born of those who are not covered by the blood and what will happen to them. Exodus 11:4-6 4 So Moses said, “This is what theLORD says: ‘About midnight I will go throughout Egypt. 5 Every firstborn son in Egypt will die, from the firstborn son of Pharaoh, who sits on the throne, to the firstborn son of the female slave, who is at her hand mill, and all the firstborn of the cattle as well. 6 There will be loud wailing throughout Egypt—worse than there has ever been or ever will be again. 7 But among the Israelites not a dog will bark at any person or animal.’ Then you will know that the LORD makes a distinction between Egypt and Israel. This is Yehovah telling the people through Moses in advance what to expect – therefore Ch 11 is prophetic, about what will happen in the very short future before the Greater Exodus we read about in: ● Jeremiah 23:7-8: “Behold, the days are coming,” declares the LORD, “when they shall no longer say, ‘As the LORD lives who brought up the people of Israel out of the land of Egypt,’ but, ‘As the LORD lives who brought up and led the descendants of the house of Israel out of the north country and from all the countries where he had driven them.'” ● Ezekiel 36:24-28: “I will take you from the nations and gather you from all the countries… I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you… and you shall be my people, and I will be your God.” ● Isaiah 11:11-12:11 In that day the Lord will reach out his hand a second time to reclaim the surviving remnant of his people from Assyria, from Lower Egypt, from Upper Egypt, from Cush,[a] from Elam, from Babylonia,[b] from Hamath and from the islands of the Mediterranean. 12 He will raise a banner for the nations and gather the exiles of Israel; he will assemble the scattered people of Judah from the four quarters of the earth. According to the timeline we see in the SightedMoon Charts, we expect this Greater Exodus to begin at Passover 2030. That is just 5 short years away. This is why we are preparing for Passover this year months before the event, so that you are prepared to keep this rehearsal, understanding it’s meanings for the future. Ch 13 is prophetic about the First Born of those who ARE covered by the blood, and this is a long term prophecy, for all of time. Exodus 13:8-10 8 On that day tell your son, ‘I do this because of what the LORD did for me when I came out of Egypt.’ 9 This observance will be for you like a sign on your hand and a reminder on your forehead that this law ofthe LORD is to be on your lips. For the LORD brought you out of Egypt with his mighty hand. 10 You must keep this ordinance at the appointed time year after year. Year after Year. So this word Passover פסח – Pasach means to Hop: To hop from one place or another. Also to be lame as one who hops on one leg. to hop, that is, (figuratively) skip over (or spare); by implication to hesitate; also (literally) to limp, to dance: – halt, become lame, leap, pass over. But we use it, in reference to this feast day – Pesach, in this context used only technically of the Passover (the festival or the victim): – passover (offering). It is both an event and a sacrifice, meaning an animal, namely a lamb or a goat, dies in place of the firstborn. Do you have in your culture this concept of the grim reaper? Imagine a person out scything the grasses. If he’s doing a good job, it all gets cut down and no blades of grass are left standing.But here is a picture of a section of grass that was hopped over, or skipped over. This is the same thing that happened with those Israelites in Egypt when the Blood was on the doorposts of their houses. They were skipped over, left to continue. We see this same picture in Matthew 24. These verses are often used to preach the Rapture Theory saying that those taken were taken up in the Rapture. They say that those left are the ones “left behind” or left without the blessing of eternal relationship with Yehovah. But given the picture we have of the Passover, where those who are covered by the blood are hopped over, skipped over, left to continue, is this really what these verses are trying to portray to us? Let’s read in Matthew 24: 36-41 36 “But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. 37 As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 38 For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; 39 and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at thecoming of the Son of Man. 40 Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. 41 Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left. Now this phrase “No one knows the day or the hour” is a phrase, an idiom, referencing the Feast of Trumpts, but there is a reason these two feasts, Passover and Feast of Trumpets are related. The Feast of Trumpets is a warning, reminding us that the Judgement is coming, that Yom Kippor, the Feast of Atonement is coming. It is reminding us we need that covering, that blood on the doorpost of our hearts. That covering says we are chosen, we were skipped over and remain close to his heart in a sea full of those He would see as strangers. This brings us to the connection between Passover and Atonement. Yeshua is that Passover Sacrifice, He is our Passover Lamb. It is His shed blood that covers us so that we may be hopped over, left standing, chosen, so that we can continue forward to the Atonement, to the Judgement. For Yeshua is not only our Passover Lamb, He is also our Atonement Goat. Yeshua’s death on the cross is not just that we may be chosen to be taken out of the ways of this world, but He also is the one who, in the days still to come will be the one who dies to make Atonement for our sin at the end of days. There is a Judgement to come, a day when those 10 virgins will be waiting for their Bridegroom to come for them, and some will be ready and waiting with their oil, and some will be waiting, but not ready, not prepared, they will have no oil and will try to gain some at the last moment and will return to find that the Bridegroom has come and the door has been shut on them. They will knock, but He will answer “Away from me, I know you not” We were taught in our Christianity that once saved always saved. We were taught that once we had been chosen, once we had experienced this Passover Moment where we entered this relationship was THE moment, and all that comes after pales in contrast to this “born again moment”, the moment where we said our sinners prayer and gave our lives to Jesus. But this is just the beginning, and this idea only recognizes Yeshua as our Passover Lamb but fails to understand, fails to see how we must continue the relationship and grow in the relationship so that we grasp the meaning of all the feasts, so that we come to understand what it means that Yeshua is also our Atonement Goat. A Relationship is not a once and done situation. We don’t choose a spouse and say to them only once “I Love You” and then never again say it, nor live it out. We can not assume that a relationship like this is going to last a lifetime.Psalm 130:4 But with you there is forgiveness, so that we can, with reverence, serve you. Matthew 26:28 This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. Acts 10:43 All the prophets testify about him that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.” The whole purpose of being hopped over, of being left standing, passed over is so that we can continue on, continue along the journey. Once the children of Israel were passed over in Egypt, they did not remain in Egypt. They began the journey, leaving Egypt. And Egypt didn’t want them to leave, it tried hard to bring them back. We have the same thing in our lives. Once we have made the decision to follow Yehovah, there are people who are trying to get us to remain in our old way of life. People who criticize us for trying to change our lives, trying to walk in righteousness. The world does not like it when we try to pull ourselves up out of our pit, the world wants to drag us back. How dare we try to be better than them by working for our freedom. How dare we walk away from them. But the Children of Israel did walk away, and they walked through a process, they proceeded to the Red Sea which is a picture of Baptism, which is a picture of the Feast of First Fruits. A picture of being made new, leaving behind the old life and walking forward as a New Creation. They then continue walking toward Mount Sinai, and enter into the Covenant, the relationship that has boundaries, stipulationship, conditions. And if these boundaries are not kept, if the stipulations are not met, if the terms and conditions are ignored, then we can not be surprised that at the Judgement, we will not pass through the judgement and be found worthy to continue forward to the Confirmation of the relationship, the sealing at the wedding feast. You see, it’s not Once Saved Always Saved. The “born again” moment is not the only thing that matters, as a matter of fact, it’s the least important. If you claim to be chosen, but lose your chosen status because you glorified yourself in being chosen instead of walking out your life as if you were chosen to be in covenant then you have missed the whole purpose of being chosen in the first place. John 6:60-70 60 On hearing it, many of his disciples said, “This is a hard teaching. Who can accept it?”61 Aware that his disciples were grumbling about this, Jesus said to them, “Does this offend you? 62 Then what if you see the Son of Man ascend to where he was before! 63 The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit[e] and life. 64 Yet there are some of you who do not believe.” For Jesus had known from the beginning which of them did not believe and who would betray him. 65 He went on to say, “This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless the Father has enabled them.” 66 From this time many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed him. 67 “You do not want to leave too, do you?” Jesus asked the Twelve. 68 Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. 69 We have come to believe and to know that you are the Holy One of God.” 70 Then Jesus replied, “Have I not chosen you, the Twelve? Yet one of you is a devil!” 71 (He meant Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, who, though one of the Twelve, was later to betray him.) Verse 66. From this time, many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed him. You can not read this and think those who no longer followed him are going to be atoned for, that they will enjoy eternity with Yehovah if they have turned their back on Him. Yeshua is our Passover Lamb. He is also our Goat for Atonement. Passover means we are chosen, Atonement means our sins are covered. Yeshua accomplished both these things at the cross, but we do not receive both these things in one moment. There are two things needed to make restoration when a relationship is broken, as ours is because of the Fall in the Garden of Eden. Those two things are Forgiveness and Repentance. We can forgive a person for what they did to us, the wound their sin inflicted upon us, but we can not, should not, restore the relationship until there is repentance. Without repentance the person who wounded us is likely to do it again. We call this person “toxic” in our current culture. Because people fail to repent, we frequently also refuse to forgive, for we have equated forgiveness with restoration. These are two separate actions, just like Passover and Atonement are two separate pictures. When we forgive a person, we take the debt they owe us and give up our right to have that debt paid – we give that debt to Yehovah and He pays that debt with His life on the cross. This is the action Yeshua did as the Passover Lamb. Likewise, we can repent of having hurt someone through our sin, but the relationships still can not berestored until we are forgiven by that person. Repentance of sin is what is covered at Atonement. It is a two step solution to the reconciliation of relationship between persons here on earth, and for the reconciliation of our relationship with our Abba Father against whom we have sinned. Please read again Exodus 12:26-27 26 And when your children ask you, ‘What does this ceremony mean to you?’ 27 then tell them, ‘It is the Passover sacrifice to the LORD, who passed over the houses of the Israelites in Egypt and spared our homes when he struck down the Egyptians.’” Then the people bowed down and worshiped. Why do we have to do Passover every year? Because we need a reminder, a refresher. And each year there will always be children who have not experienced this being passed over, this being chosen, and they will need to be taught – so that they will bow down and worship. Last week we asked “What are we teaching our children?” This week we ask, what have we failed to teach our children. If we are not celebrating the Passover Meal, do we truly understand what forgiveness is? Do we understand what it means that we are chosen, that our debt is paid? And if we expect that the whole of our relationship is completed, we will fail to be ready at the Judgement in the year 2033? We must walk out the whole of our Salvation. We have been chosen, not so we can stand still, but chosen so we can move foreward, towards our Salvation, towards the Wedding Feast, towards Eternity with out Bridegroom. Molek is Still Being Worshiped Today!? | Podcast with Author Joseph Dumond Part 2– Ba’al Moloch the God Ba’al, the Sacred Bull, was widely worshipped in the ancient Near East and wherever Punic culture extended. Baal Moloch was conceived under the form of a calf or an ox or depicted as a man with the head of a bull. Hadad, Baal or simply the King identified the god within his cult. The name Moloch is not the name he was known by among his worshippers, but a Hebrew translation. The written form Moloch (in the Septuagint Greek translation of the Old Testament), or Molech (Hebrew), is no different than the word Melech or king, transformed by interposing the vowels of bosheth or ‘shameful thing’. He is sometimes also called Milcom in the Old Testament (1 Kings 11:5, 1 Kings 11:33, 2 Kings 23:13 and Zephaniah 1:5) Forms and grammar The Hebrew letters מלך (mlk) usually stands for melek ‘king’ (Proto-Northwest Semitic malku) but when vocalized as mÅlek in Masoretic Hebrew text, they have been traditionally understood as a proper name Μολοχ (molokh) (Proto-Northwest Semitic Mulku) in the corresponding Greek renderings in the Septuagint translation, in Aquila, and in the Greek Targum. The form usually appears in the compound lmlk. The Hebrew preposition l- means ‘to’, but it can often mean ‘for’ or ‘as a(n)’. Accordingly one can translate lmlk as “to Moloch” or “for Moloch” or “as a Moloch”, or “to the Moloch” or “for the Moloch” or “as the Moloch”, whatever a “Moloch” or “the Moloch” might be. We also once find hmlk ‘the Moloch’ standing by itself. Because there is no difference between mlk ‘king’ and mlk ‘moloch’ in unpointed text, interpreters sometimes suggest molek should be understood in certain places where the Masoretic text is vocalized as melek, and vice versa. Moloch has been traditionally interpreted as the name of a god, possibly a god titled the king, but purposely misvocalized as Molek instead of Melek using the vowels of Hebrew bosheth ‘shame’. Moloch appears in the Hebrew of 1 Kings 11.7 (on Solomon’s religious failings): Then did Solomon build a high place for Chemosh, the abomination of Moab, in the hill that is before Jerusalem, and lmlk, the abomination of the Sons of Ammon. But in other passages the god of the Ammonites is named Milcom, not Moloch (see 1 Kings 11.33; Zephaniah 1.5). The Septuagint reads Milcom in 1 Kings 11.7 instead of Moloch which suggests a scribal error in the Hebrew. Many English translations accordingly follow the non-Hebrew versions at this point and render Milcom. (The form mlkm can also mean ‘their king’ as well as Milcom and therefore one cannot always be sure in some other passages whether the King of Ammon is intended or the god Milcom.) It has also been suggested that the Baâ’al of Tyre, Melqart ‘king of the city’ (who was probably the Baâ’al whose worship was furthered by Ahab and his house) was this supposed god Moloch and that Melqart/Moloch was also Milcom the god of the Ammonites and identical with other gods whose names contain mlk. But nothing particularly suggests these identifications other than mlk in the various names. Amos 5.27 reads in close translation: But you shall carry Sikkut your king, and Kiyyun, your images, the star-symbol of your god which you made for yourself. The Septuagint renders ‘your king’ as Moloch, perhaps from a scribal error, whence the verse appears in Acts 7.43: You have lifted up the shrine of Molech and the star of your god Rephan, the idols you made to worship. Accordingly this association of Moloch with these other gods is probably spurious. All other references to Moloch use mlk only in the context of “passing children through fire lmlk”, whatever is meant by lmlk, whether it means “to Moloch” or means something else. It has traditionally been understood to mean burning children alive to the god Moloch. But some have suggested a rite of purification by fire instead, though perhaps a dangerous one. References to passing through fire without mentioning mlk appear in Deuteronomy 12.31, 18.10–13; 2 Kings 21.6; Ezekiel 20.26,31; 23.37. So the existence of this practice is well documented. For a comparable practice of rendering infants immortal by passing them through the fire, indirectly attested in early Greek myth, see the entries for Thetis and also the myth of Demeter as the nurse of Demophon. Biblical texts The pertinent Biblical texts follow in very literal translation. The word here translated literally as ‘seed’ very often means offspring. The forms containing mlk have been left untranslated. The reader may substitute either “to Moloch” or “as a molk”. Leviticus 18.21 And you shall not let any of your seed pass through Mo’lech, neither shall you profane the name of your God: I am the Lord. Leviticus 20.25: Again, you shall say to the Sons of Israel: Whoever he be of the Sons of Israel or of the strangers that sojourn in Israel, that gives any of his seed Mo’lech; he shall surely be put to death: the people of the land shall stone him with stones. And I will set my face against that man and will cut him off from among his people; because he has given of his seed Mo’lech, to defile my sanctuary, and to profane my holy name. And if the people of the land do at all hide their eyes from that man, when he gives of his seed Mo’lech, and do not kill him, then I will set my face against that man, and against his family, and will cut him off, and all that go astray after him, whoring after Mo’lech from among the people. 2 Kings 23.10 (on King Josiah’s reform): And he defiled the Tophet, which is in the valley of Ben-hinnom, that no man might make his son or his daughter pass through the fire Mo’lech. Jeremiah 32.35: And they built the high places of the Ba’al, which are in the valley of Ben-hinnom, to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire Mo’lech; which I did not command them, nor did it come into my mind that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin. Moloch has also been referred to simply as a rebel angel. Traditional accounts and theories The 12th-century rabbi Rashi, commenting on Jeremiah 7.31 stated: Tophet is Moloch, which was made of brass; and they heated him from his lower parts; and his hands being stretched out, and made hot, they put the child between his hands, and it was burnt; when it vehemently cried out; but the priests beat a drum, that the father might not hear the voice of his son, and his heart might not be moved. A different rabbinical tradition says that the idol was hollow and was divided into seven compartments, in one of which they put flour, in the second turtle-doves, in the third a ewe, in the fourth a ram, in the fifth a calf, in the sixth an ox, and in the seventh a child, which were all burnt together by heating the statue inside. Later commentators have compared these accounts with similar ones from Greek and Latin sources speaking of the offering of children by fire as sacrifices in the Punic city of Carthage, which was a Phoenician colony. Cleitarchus, Diodorus Siculus and Plutarch all mention burning of children as an offering to Cronus or Saturn, that is to Ba’al Hammon, the chief god of Carthage. Issues and practices relating to Moloch and child sacrifice may also have been overemphasized for effect. After the Romans finally defeated Carthage and totally destroyed the city, they engaged in post-war propaganda to make their archenemies seem cruel and less civilized. Paul G. Mosca in his thesis (described below) translates Cleitarchus’ paraphrase of a scholia to Plato’s Republic as: There stands in their midst a bronze statue of Kronos, its hands extended over a bronze brazier, the flames of which engulf the child. When the flames fall upon the body, the limbs contract and the open mouth seems almost to be laughing until the contracted body slips quietly into the brazier. Thus it is that the ‘grin’ is known as ‘sardonic laughter,’ since they die laughing. Diodorus Siculus (20.14) wrote: There was in their city a bronze image of Cronus extending its hands, palms up and sloping toward the ground, so that each of the children when placed thereon rolled down and fell into a sort of gaping pit filled with fire. Diodorus also relates relatives were forbidden to weep and that when Agathocles defeated Carthage, the Carthaginian nobles believed they had displeased the gods by substituting low-born children for their own children. They attempted to make amends by sacrificing 200 children at once, children of the best families, and in their enthusiasm actually sacrificed 300 children. Plutarch wrote in De Superstitiones 171: … the whole area before the statue was filled with a loud noise of flutes and drums so that the cries of wailing should not reach the ears of the people. Lev.20:1-5 (NAB) The Lord said to Moses, (2) “Tell the Israelites : Anyone, whether an Israelite or an alien residing in Israel, who gives any of his offspring too Molech shall be put to death. Let his fellow citizens stone him. (3) I myself will turn against such a man and cut him off from the body of his people; for in giving his offspring to Molech, he has defiled my sanctuary and profaned my holy name. (4) Even if his fellow citizens connive at such a man’s crime of giving his offspring to Molech, and fail to put him to death, (5) I myself will set my face against that man and his family and will cut off from their people both him and all who join him in this wanton worship of Molech.” Yahweh didn’t want Israel to begin to look on Him like Molech. As incredible as it may sound in Psalm 106:34-28 it tells us that Israel did get involved in this worship. (34)They did not exterminate the peoples, as the Lord had commanded them, (35)But mingled with the nations and learned their works. (36)They served their idols, which became a snare for them. (37)They sacrificed their sons and their daughters to demons, (38)And they shed innocent blood, the blood of their sons and their daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan, desecrating the land with bloodshed; The Catholic Encyclopedia says the primitive title of this god was very probably Melech, “King”, the consonants came to be combined through derision with the vowels of the word BOSETH, “shame”. Or king of shame Speaking of the Phoenicians the catholic encyclopedia says “They deified the sun and the moon which they considered the great forces that create and destroy, and called them Baal, and Astaroth. Each city had its divine pair: at Sidon it was Baal Sidon (the sun) and Astarte (the moon); at Gebel , Baal Tummuz and Baaleth; at Carthage, Baal Hamon and Tanith. But the same god changed his name accordingly as he was conceived creator or destroyer; thus Baal as destroyer was worshipped at Cartage under the name of Moloch. As creators they were honored with orgies and tumultuous feast; as destroyers by human victims. Baal Moloch was figured at Carthage as a bronze colossus with arms extended and lowered. To appease him children were laid in his arms , and fell at once into a pit of fire. “ In Ezek 23:39 (NAB) Yahweh says ” On the very day they slew their children for their idols they entered my sanctuary to desecrate it.” The Israelite’s had mixed Yahweh’s worship with the worship of Moloch just as he had said not to. In Jeremiah 19:1-15 (NIV) Thus said the Lord, “Go, buy a potter’s earthen flask, and take some of the elders of the people and some of the senior priest, (2) and go out to the valley of the son of Hinnom at the entry of the Potsherd Gate , and proclaim there the words that I tell you. (3) You shall say, “Hear the word of the Lord, O kings of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem. Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, Behold, I am bringing such evil upon this place that the ears of every one who hears of it will tingle. (4) Because the people have forsaken me, and have profaned this place by burning incense in it to other gods whom neither they nor their fathers nor the kings of Judah have known; and because they have filled this place with the blood of innocents, (5) and have built the high places of Ba’al to burn their sons in the fire as burnt offerings to Ba’al, which I did not command or decree, nor did it come into my mind; (6) therefore , behold, days are coming, says the Lord , when this place shall no more be called Topheth, or the valley of the son of Hinnon, but the valley Slaughter. (7) And in this place I will make void the plans of Judah and Jerusalem, and will cause their people to fall by the sword before their enemies, and by the hand of those who seek their life. I will give their dead bodies for food to the birds of the air and to the beasts of the earth. (8) And I will make this city a horror, a thing to be hissed at ; every one who passes by it will be horrified and will hiss because of all its disasters. (9) And I will make them eat the flesh of their sons and their daughters, and every one shall eat the flesh of his neighbor in the siege and in the distress, with which their enemies and those who seek their life afflict them.” (10) Then you shall break the flask in the sight of the men who go with you, (11) and you shall say to them, “Thus says the Lord of hosts: So will I break this people and this city, as one breaks a potters vessel, so that it can never be mended. Men shall bury in Topheth because there will be no place else to bury. (12) Thus will I do to this place, says the Lord, and to its inhabitants, making this city like Topheth. (13) The houses of Jerusalem and the houses of the kings of Judah – all the house upon whose roofs incense has been burned to all the host of heaven, and drink offerings have been pored out to other gods – shall be defiled like the place of Topheth.” (14)Then Jeremiah came from Topheth, where the Lord had sent him to prophesy , and he stood in the court of the Lord’s house, and said to all the people: (15) “Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, Behold, I am bringing upon this city and upon all its towns all the evil that I have pronounced against it, because they have stiffened their neck, refusing to hear my words.” Topheth in Strongs concordance is #8612 taken from #8611 to mean a smiting or contempt. Tophteh #8613 is from #8612 meaning a place of cremation. And #8611 is taken from #8608 taphaph meaning to play on the drum the tambourine; play with timbrels. Note it says that the drums were played to drown out the screams of the children who were being cremated alive. From the Catholic encyclopedia, Topheth was the place where Judas Iscariot hung himself and his body fell and burst open on the rocks below. The field of blood (Haceldama). From the Chamber Encyclopedia under Molech, it is clear that in Palestine and Syria from at least the 18th century BC infants about 8 days old were sacrificed and buried in womb shape jars, possibly in connection with fertility rites. In the king cult, the king was regarded as the son embodiment of god & the Hebrew phrase “to the molech” may have meant for the sake of the life of the king. Remember we said earlier Melek = king of the netherworld. Jeremiah (NIV)7: 30-31For the sons of Judah have done evil in my sight , says the Lord; they have set their abomination in the house which is called by my name, to defile it (31) And they have built the high place of Topheth which is in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to burn their sons and their daughters in the fire, which I did not command nor did it come into my mind. Jeremiah (NIV) 8:1-2 At that time, say the Lord, the bones of the kings of Judah, the bones of its princes, the bones of the priest, the bones of the prophets and the bones of the inhabitants of Jerusalem shall be brought out of their tombs; (2) and they shall be spread before the sun and the moon and all the host of heaven, which they have loved and served, which they have gone after, and which they have sought and worshipped; and they shall not be gathered or buried; they shall be as dung on the surface of the ground. Note: They are worshiping the sun god Ba’al Moloch and the moon god Astarte. That’s why Yahweh spreads them out before their god as dung. Jeremiah (NIV)32:28,30-35 “Behold I am giving this city into the hands of the Chaldeans and into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar King of Babylon and he shall take it. (30) For the sons of Israel and the sons of Judah have done nothing but evil in my sight from their youth; the sons of Israel have done nothing but provoke me to anger by the works of their hands, says the Lord. (31) This city has aroused my anger and wrath, from the day it was built to this day, so that I will remove it from my sight (32) because of all the evil the sons of Israel and the sons of Judah which they did to provoke me to anger – their kings and their princes, their priest and their prophets, the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem. (33) They have turned to me their back and not their face; and though I have taught them persistently they have not listened to receive instruction. (34) They have set up their abominations in the house which is called by my name, to defile it. (35) They built the high places of Ba’al in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to offer up their sons and daughters to Molech, though I did not command them , nor did it enter into my mind, that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin. So in the early 600’s BC in Jeremiah’s time, this was the official religion and it included child sacrifices.!! But even in King Solomon’s day, it was going on. - 78#63 The Three Wise Men? The Magi That Sought The Birth of Jesus | Did They Follow a Star, or an Angel?Who were these “Wise Men” the Bible tells us about!? Much has been written about the life of Jesus Christ, the historical person whose name is attached to the many different denominations of Christianity that exist today. In fact, so much has been written that one might wonder whether anything truly new could be written about this one life. As the reader will see, new facts about the life of Jesus Christ can be ascertained by combining the accounts of the Bible with secular historical accounts and traditions about the time in which He lived. This chapter is not intended to be a complete history of the life of Jesus Christ. It will cover those aspects of His life and times which have not been generally known. The prior chapter dealing with the Parthian Empire discussed historical events shaping the world into which Jesus Christ was born. When some surprising information about His life is added to the history contained in the previous chapter, it can be seen that Jesus Christ actually played a role in the great power politics which occurred between the empires of Parthia and Rome. The Bible hints that He could have played a much larger role in the political affairs of that era if He had chosen to do so. Did Jesus Really Live? There is no doubt that the person, Jesus Christ, actually lived in Palestine at the beginning of the first century A. D. While some skeptics doubt this fact, this chapter will begin by offering firm evidence that Jesus Christ was a real, historical person. Josephus, a Jewish historian of the first century A. D., regarded the life of Jesus Christ as an established fact. In Antiquities of the Jews, Josephus wrote: “there was about this time, Jesus, a wise man, if it be lawful to call him a man, for He was a doer of wonderful works, — a teacher of such men as receive the truth with pleasure. He drew over to him both many of the Jews, and many of the Gentiles. He was Christ; and when Pilate [Pontius Pilate, Roman Procurator of Judea], at the suggestion of the principle men among us, had condemned him to the cross…He appeared to them alive again the third day, as the divine prophets had foretold these and ten thousand other wonderful things concerning him; and the tribe of Christians, so named from him, are not extinct at this day.”1 In this account, written shortly after Christ died, Josephus not only gave us a powerful witness that Jesus Christ truly lived, but also provided an independent corroboration of many of the biblically-discussed events of His life. Josephus refers to him as “a wise man,” and wonders whether He was more than a mere man because of the “wonderful works” He did. That a non-Christian, Jewish historian of the apostolic era writes of the miracles of Jesus as actual facts offers contemporary support to the Bible’s accounts about them. Josephus agrees with the testamental writings that Jesus was sentenced to be crucified by Pontius Pilate at the behest of the Jewish Sanhedrin, “the principle men among us.” Josephus also acknowledged that Jesus Christ fulfilled many prophecies of the Hebrew prophets about the Messiah, and even refers to His resurrection as an historical fact! Josephus’ reference to Jesus as “the Christ” acknowledges that Jesus was the Messiah, “the anointed.” Since a non-Christian source so close to the actual time of Christ has confirmed these facts of His life, the musings of modern skeptics questioning Christ’s existence are without merit. Josephus could speak with eyewitnesses of Jesus’ life; modern skeptics are almost two millennia removed from the events, and their writings are merely speculative. Jesus Christ did live, and the writings of Josephus substantiate the Bible’s claims of His performance of supernatural deeds as well as His being raised from the dead. Roman secular sources agree with Josephus. Celsus, an anti-Christian writer of the Roman Empire in the second century A.D., wrote: “It was by magic that He [Jesus] was able to do the miracles which He appeared to have done.”2 Here a Roman opponent of Christianity grudgingly acknowledges the reality of Christ’s “miracles,” which he labels as “magic.” However, Quadratus, writing in approximately 117-134 A.D., “urged people to believe in Jesus because the effect of His miracles continued up to the present — people had been cured and raised from the dead, and ‘some of them…have survived even to our own day.’”3 Tacitus, the famous Roman historian, writing about the Christians just decades after the death of Christ, stated: “Nero fabricated scapegoats — and punished…the notoriously depraved Christians (as they were popularly called). Their originator, Christ, had been executed in Tiberius’ reign by the governor of Judea, Pontius Pilate.”4 Tacitus’ comment about Christ appears as a mere aside in an overall account of events in the reign of Nero. It is particularly compelling evidence that Jesus Christ really did live! Tacitus was no fan of Christ or Christianity, and he had no “axe to grind.” His account that “Christ” was a real person crucified by Pontius Pilate is highly credible as Tacitus refers to it as an official act of Pontius Pilate within His overall accounting of Rome’s activities. Clearly, Roman accounts confirm that Jesus Christ lived, and that He was executed in Judea during the administration of Pontius Pilate. Even His detractors acknowledged that He performed supernatural deeds. Whatever your views about Jesus Christ, we begin with the fact that He, indeed, lived and died when the Bible states that He lived and died, that He performed marvellous deeds, and that He made a major impression on the civilization of His day. Let us now review the historical setting into which Jesus Christ was born. The Roman and Parthian Empires were both powerful, well-established “superpower” rivals at the time Jesus was born. Rome ruled the Mediterranean region, and Parthia ruled Asian lands from modern Syria to the Indus River. Palestine was located within the Roman Empire, but was close to the Euphrates River constituting the Parthian border. Five decades before the birth of Jesus, Rome and Parthia fought several battles with one being fought near Antioch of Syria (very close to Palestine).5 In about 40 B.C., the Parthians launched a major assault which drove the Romans out of Asia! For three years, 40-37 B.C., Palestine was within the Parthian Empire and was ruled by a Jewish vassal king of the Parthians named Antigonus. At that time King Herod, the Roman king of Judea, fled from the Parthians in fear of his life. While the Parthian-sponsored rule of Antigonus was brief, it was apparently popular with the Jews. When the Parthians withdrew across the Euphrates, Antigonus, with Jewish support, attempted to maintain himself as king of the Jews, but was defeated by Herod. Mark Antony, the Roman leader famous for his dalliance with Cleopatra, ordered Antigonus beheaded, and Josephus records that this was done to compel the Jews to accept the hated Herod as their king.6 Mark Antony afterward led a massive invasion of Parthia in 37-36 B.C., but his army was utterly defeated by the Parthians.7 To help modern readers gain a frame of reference for these ancient events, these Roman-Parthian wars were more recent events for the people at the time Jesus was born than World War II and the Korean War are to modern readers. Parthian rule over Palestine was, therefore, vividly remembered by many in Jewish society as being preferable to Roman rule. Parthia’s victory over Mark Antony led to a long period of peace between Rome and Parthia, with the Euphrates River serving as the border between their two vast empires. This prolonged period of peaceful relations lasted from 36 B.C. until 58 A.D.,8 including not only all of Jesus Christ’s life, but also the early period of the Apostolic Church as well. Rawlinson records that it was an established Roman policy not to provoke a Parthian war during that period of time so long as both empires agreed to coexist on separate banks of the Euphrates River. Rawlinson comments on this peaceful interlude as follows: “It is a well-known fact that Augustus left it as a principle of policy to his successors that the Roman Empire had reached its proper limits, and could not with advantage be extended further. This principle, followed with the utmost strictness by Tiberius, was accepted as a rule by all the earlier Caesars…”9 As long as the Caesars wanted peace with Parthia, Roman officials along Parthia’s border, such as King Herod and Pontius Pilate, knew they risked their positions and lives if they entangled Rome in an unwanted war with Parthia. Without this period of Parthian-Roman detente, it would have been impossible for some of the events of Jesus Christ’s life to have occurred, as we shall see. The first such event was the coming of the Magi, or “Wise Men” to pay homage to Jesus. We read of this event in Matthew 2:1-12, which becomes more important when considered in the overall context of Roman-Parthian relations. Parthia’s Magi Visit Jesus (and Frighten Jerusalem) As discussed in the previous chapter, the Magi were powerful members of the Parthian bicameral body that elected Parthian monarchs and wielded great influence within the empire. One assembly was composed of members of the royal family (the Arsacids), and the other consisted of the priests (the “Magi”) and influential Parthians of non-royal blood (the “Wise Men”). The Magi and Wise Men were jointly known as the Megistanes.10 Matthew 2:1 states that “wise men from the east” came to worship Jesus. The term “Wise Men,” which appears in Matthew 2:1, is not a generic description of these visitors, but was the proper title of Parthian Megistanes. The Greek word translated “wise men” is “magian,” literally meaning “Persian astronomer or priest,”11 from which we derive the word “Magi.” Parthia governed Persia at the time of Christ, so the “Wise Men” cited in the Bible were Parthian nobles and/or priests. While traditional Christian accounts of this episode celebrate the coming of “the three wise men,” the Bible does not limit the number of visiting Magi-Wise Men to three men. Indeed, biblical events and the realities of that time argue for a much larger contingent of Parthian Magi. Since we saw in previous chapters that the Parthians were descended from the ten tribes of Israel and that their priests were likely descended from the tribe of Levi, it is likely that this delegation of Magi consisted of leading members of the ten tribes of Israel. Because there were numerous Jews of the tribe of Judah in Parthia’s empire, they may have been represented as well. Consequently, the delegation of Magi could easily have consisted of at least ten or twelve men representing the various tribes of Israel. Also, the Bible confirms that the Magi did not visit the young Jesus in the manger at Bethlehem as most nativity scenes depict, but rather visited Jesus in a house somewhat after His birth. Matthew 2:11 states that this visit of the Magi took place in a house (not at the manger) when Jesus was old enough to be called “a young child.” Luke’s version of Christ’s birth (Luke 2:8-40) mentions the shepherds’ arrival at the manger, but makes no mention of any Magi visiting Christ while He was “in the manger.” Matthew 2:8 adds that Herod sent the Magi “to Bethlehem” after conferring with the Jewish hierarchy about the prophesied location of the Messiah’s birth. They cited Micah 5:2 that the Messiah would originate in Bethlehem, and they were likely familiar with Daniel 9:25-26 which predicted that the arrival of the Messiah was due at that time. Herod privately met with the Parthian delegation, and enquired when “the star” which they followed had first appeared. He apparently learned that this period of time was almost two years because he killed all male children in Bethlehem under two years of age in an attempt to kill the Messiah, whom he regarded as a competitor for his position as king of the Jews. Although the Bible tells us that “the star” appeared to the Wise Men almost two years prior to His birth, this offers inexact information in determining how old Jesus was when the Wise Men came to him. The Wise Men were prominent people in Parthia when “the star” appeared, and they had to make a very time-consuming journey to reach Judea. It took time to prepare the costly gifts to present to the Messiah, set their affairs in order for a long absence, organize and equip a caravan, obtain an armed escort for protection and make the slow, lengthy journey to Judea in a caravan of pack animals. Since the “star’s” appearance was not necessarily timed to coincide exactly with the time Jesus was born, He may have been a few months (or up to two years) old at the time of the Magi’s arrival. Consider also that Matthew 2:1-3 states: “Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem. Saying, where is He that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen His star in the east, and are come to worship him. When Herod the king heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.” (KJV) The arrival of the Magi’s caravan in Jerusalem was a very public affair because “all Jerusalem” was “troubled” by their arrival. What was it about the Magi’s caravan that scared the Roman leaders and the whole city of Jerusalem? The Magi, a delegation of high Parthian officials, came to Jerusalem in a caravan loaded with costly treasures and escorted by a strong force of armed Parthian soldiers! Since the Magi were high officials of the Parthian government, they would routinely travel with a substantial escort of Parthian soldiers to guarantee their protection. Since they were travelling with many costly treasures to present to the newborn Messiah, their escort may have been unusually large. The Magi’s caravan would have included large numbers of servants, animal-handlers, cooks, etc. for such a long journey. These people alone would have constituted many hundreds of people! Given the fact that many high Parthian officials and very expensive treasures were in the caravan, there may have been many thousands of Parthian soldiers escorting the caravan! This is not an overstatement. Josephus records that treasure caravans bringing expensive offerings to Jerusalem from Jews living in Parthian territory did so with “many ten thousand men” as escorts.12 In ancient times, travelling with expensive items was dangerous. There was danger not only from brigands, but also from local satraps who might use their armies to conquer a treasure train passing through their territories. If Jewish commoners from Parthia were allowed to travel to Jerusalem with the equivalent of several infantry divisions as escorts, would an important delegation of Parthia’s ruling class and a treasure train of gifts have been accompanied by any fewer armed escorts? If the Parthian column had included “many ten thousands” of soldiers, it would have justified the widespread fear in Jerusalem caused by their arrival. In the previous chapter, we learned that ancient Chinese historical accounts recorded that the Parthians sent 20,000 cavalry just to escort a Chinese ambassador into Parthian territory. Plutarch records that Surenas — a Parthian military commander and, no doubt, a member of the Megistanes — travelled on routine business in a caravan of cavalry, servants, and attendants the size of “a baggage train of 1,000 camels…at least ten thousand men.”13 If one Parthian leader travelled with so large a caravan on routine business within Parthia, how large was the caravan of the Magi — a whole delegation of Parthian nobles carrying great treasures to worship a “new-born king?” It was large enough to frighten the whole city of Jerusalem! The Wise Men coming to Jesus were not bringing just a few samples of gold and other precious things that they carried in their personal saddlebags. They were coming to worship a royal-born child, so they likely had a whole train of pack animals loaded with “gold, frankincense and myrrh!” Their caravan was so huge that it was a “cause celebre” in Jerusalem. The whole city was in an uproar over their arrival, and that argues for a very visible and impressive Parthian caravan arriving in Jerusalem. The sheer size of the caravan, its treasures and its escorts awed King Herod and the whole city to the point they were all “troubled.” This indicates that the Parthian caravan had so many armed escorts that many feared it was an invasion force coming to besiege Jerusalem and start a new Roman-Parthian war. However, their reason — coming to visit a royal-born Messiah — could have electrified a city of Jews who intensely wanted the Messiah to come and free them from Roman rule! The Jewish hierarchy understood the Parthians were looking for the Messiah as they quickly looked for Messianic prophecies to locate the city of His birth. After their consultations with Herod and high Jewish officials, the Parthian delegation travelled to Bethlehem to worship Jesus and present their gifts to him. By this time, Matthew 2:11 states Jesus and Mary were living in “a house,” so they were no longer staying at the manger. The Magi’s journey to Bethlehem would have been closely followed by Herod’s spies. Joseph was then warned by an angel to flee quickly into Egypt (Matthew 2:13) to avoid Herod’s impending slaughter of Bethlehem’s young male children. Since Herod’s edict applied only to Bethlehem, there would have been no need for Joseph, Mary and Jesus to flee unless they were still in Bethlehem. Since Joseph and Mary actually lived in Galilee (Luke 2:4), the fact that they were in a house in Bethlehem indicates that this must have been weeks after Jesus’ birth while Mary was regaining the strength to make an overland trip back to Nazareth. Their flight to Egypt took them completely out of Herod’s area of jurisdiction. Herod made the mistake of assuming the Messiah would be born to a family native to the Bethlehem area. Since Luke 2:39 states that Joseph, Mary and Jesus returned to Galilee not long after Jesus was born, it seems apparent that the stay of Joseph, Mary and Jesus in Egypt was very brief. Historical sources disagree on the year of King Herod’s death, but there is persuasive evidence that Herod died soon after giving his cruel order to murder the boy babies of Bethlehem. Matthew 2:14-19 states that Jesus and His parents returned from Egypt as soon as Herod was dead, and the account implies their stay in Egypt was brief. (Yehshua was born on teh Feast of trumpets Sept 11, 3 B.C. Herod died after an eclipse which occured in 1 B.C. Two years after the birth of Yehshua) This author acknowledges that there are differing scholarly and historical viewpoints concerning the year of Jesus Christ’s birth. While many people assume that Jesus Christ was born in a theoretical “year zero,” scholarly options for the year of Jesus’ birth focus on the time frame of 5 B.C. to 2 B.C. It is significant that Jesus’ parents were faithful to God’s law requiring circumcision on the eight day (Leviticus 12:2-3), and to Jewish custom by making an offering to God at the Temple in Jerusalem to consecrate their firstborn male child. (Luke 2:21-24) This is an important observation as it shows Jesus was raised by a Jewish family that devoutly obeyed God’s laws. When the Parthian column arrived at Jerusalem, the Parthian Magi came directly to King Herod, quite open about their reasons for being in Roman-occupied Palestine. They informed Herod that they had come to worship “He that is born king of the Jews.” It is a tribute to the power of Caesar’s policy that the Roman-Parthian peace be maintained that war did not result from this statement, for Herod could easily have taken it as an insult. He could have flown into a rage, and yelled “How dare you ask to see another ‘king of the Jews’ besides me; I am king of the Jews!” That Herod swallowed his gargantuan pride, and meekly answered the Parthians is quite noteworthy. This is a tribute not only to Caesar’s policy to maintain the peace, but also to recognition that a sizeable Parthian army had come to Jerusalem as escorts of the Magi. Herod’s meek response to the highly provocative question of the Parthian officials does imply that he was intimidated by the many Parthian soldiers who accompanied the Magi. Because the whole city was “troubled” by the Parthians’ arrival, the presence of so many Parthian soldiers surely sparked rumors in Jerusalem that a new Parthian-Roman war was imminent. Herod may even have suspected that the Parthians’ question was designed to provoke an incident, which would lead to an outbreak of hostilities and his removal from the throne. Herod and all Jerusalem was surprised, but relieved to learn that the Parthian Magi and soldiers had arrived with peaceful intent. Herod may have been expecting to hear an ultimatum for the surrender of Jerusalem to Parthia when the Magi were ushered into his presence. Some observations must be made about the “star” which led the Magi to Jesus. Some have proposed that this star was a comet or a celestial phenomenon although the biblical accounts indicate that this was not the case. The biblically-described “star” moved, leading the Magi over a long east-to-west route from Parthia to Judea, and Matthew 2:9 states that it finally “stood over where the young child was.” Simple logic confirms that no comet or celestial phenomenon in the sky could possibly pinpoint a single city, much less “stand over” an individual child on the earth’s surface! Nevertheless, that is what the biblical “star” did. The Bible periodically uses the word “star” to represent angels (Job 38:7, Revelation 1:20), and there is good reason to believe that the “star” which led the Parthian nobles to a specific child in a specific house in Judea was an angel of God. Nothing else makes sense. Only an angel, a spirit being, could literally “stand over” the baby Jesus to designate one specific child to the Parthian nobles. Also, nothing in the biblical account indicates that this “star” was visible to anyone other than the Magi-Wise Men! Matthew 2:2 states that the Magi saw “the star,” but the context argues no one else ever saw it. Verse 7 relates that Herod asked the Magi when “the star” appeared to them, indicating no one in Judea was aware of any such “star.” If a striking celestial object had appeared in the sky, Herod and his astrologers would already have known the exact date and hour on which it had appeared. After leading the Parthians to Judea, the “star” disappeared, forcing the Parthians to ask Herod for directions. After the Magi left Herod, the “star” again appeared to them, led them directly to Bethlehem (Luke 2:9), and finally “stood over” one specific child, Jesus. Verse 10 states the Magi rejoiced that the “star” had again appeared to show them where to go! Obviously, a “star” which appeared, disappeared and reappeared for the Magi (but which was apparently not seen by any other humans) had to be an angel. Supporting this fact is that Luke 2:8-15 records that the birth of Jesus was announced to shepherds by angels speaking to them out of a heavenly light which accompanied their appearance. God also used an angel to warn Joseph to flee to Egypt. Since God used angels to direct the movements of persons in the events surrounding Christ’s birth, it would have been completely consistent for God to also send an angel to guide the Magi’s movements. Having found Jesus, the Magi worshipped him, offering costly gifts of gold, myrrh and frankincense. They were then warned by God in a dream (Matthew 2:12) not to return to Herod, resulting in the prompt exit of the Magi and their many escorts from Judea. When Herod realized that he had been fooled, he wrathfully killed all the young male children of Bethlehem in a vain effort to kill the Messiah. However, there is no indication that Herod made any attempt to overtake or punish the Magi. As high Parthian nobles, they had “diplomatic immunity,” and Herod dared not anger Caesar by provoking the Parthians. Also, Herod’s garrison troops could have been vastly outnumbered by the size of the Magi’s military escorts. There is another important aspect of this remarkable episode. While it is not surprising that Jewish leaders during Herod’s reign were sufficiently familiar with the prophetic writings to pinpoint for Herod exactly where the Messiah would be born, it is surprising that God was working so closely with members of the Parthian ruling class! This makes no biblical sense unless: (A) the Parthians were descended from the ten tribes of Israel and (B) the Magi (Parthian priests) included some Levites. During His ministry, Jesus Christ asserted that He had not been sent to the gentiles, but only to the “lost sheep of the house of Israel.” Matthew 15:24-28 shows the reluctance of Jesus to assist a gentile. Throughout the Old Testament God worked almost exclusively with the House of Israel and the House of Judah. It was not until after the death of Christ that gentiles were given equal access to the God of Israel. The fact that God was working intimately with the Parthian nobility — sending them angelic messages, giving them divine messages in dreams — confirms that the Parthians had to be descended from the ten tribes of Israel which had migrated into Asia. The fact that some of the Parthian ruling classes were apparently worshippers of the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob is most revealing. God obviously considered these Parthians to be “righteous” men under the terms of His laws or He would not have been dealing with them so personally. That educated Parthians were ready to visit and worship the Messiah at the time of Christ’s birth indicates they were also familiar with the prophecies of the Old Testament. Who but transplanted Israelites would have been looking for the Messiah at that time? Although we are jumping ahead in the narrative, consider the events of Acts 2:9 which states Parthians were among those who made pilgrimages to Jerusalem for the Feast of Weeks, known to Christians as Pentecost Sunday. Verse 9 also mentions “Medes, Elamites, and dwellers in Mesopotamia” as being present at this feast, and all these regions were provinces of the Parthian Empire. We know that portions of the ten tribes had been relocated to “the cities of the Medes,” so the presence of devout visitors from Media most likely designates people from the ten tribes of Israel who still lived in Media. Interestingly, verse 9 also mentions “dwellers…in Asia” were present. The word “Asia” has clouded origins, but the Encyclopaedia Britannica states, “It is probable that it [“Asia”] has an Assyrian or Hebrew root, and was used first…with a specific or restricted local application, a more extended signification having eventually been given it…”14 As briefly mentioned in chapter two, one of the Scythian tribes was called the “Asii” (or “Asiani”).15 Since the “Asiani” were one of the Scythian tribes bearing the name of Isaac, the Sacae or Saka, the Bible’s reference to “Asians” attending the Feast of Weeks could indicate that Scythians were also present in Jerusalem at that time. This further indicates that the Parthians and Scythians were the displaced members of the “lost ten tribes of Israel.” The non-Israelite populations of Asia had no cultural interest in the worship of the God of Israel; only the ten tribes of Israel would retain such a custom. It was not unusual for large pilgrimages originating in Parthia to travel to Jerusalem to worship the God of Israel. Josephus’ statement that caravans from Parthia arrived in Jerusalem under the protection of “many ten thousand men”16 was noted earlier. These must have been magnificent treasure trains to have warranted the protection of a sizeable army. Such huge protection of a sizeable army. Such huge “offerings” going to Jerusalem from Parthia indicates that significant numbers of people within the Parthian Empire worshipped the God of Israel. This meant that, at the time of Jesus and Herod, there was a great deal of travel and trade between the Parthian Empire and the Roman province of Judea. It also shows that there was a strong sense of community between Judea and many regions of the Parthian Empire. If a caravan of Parthian commoners could be escorted by “many ten thousand men,” how many escorts would accompany a caravan of Parthia’s nobility? The Parthian nobility did not “travel light.” Plutarch records that Surenas, a high Parthian noble, had an entourage of ten thousand men when he travelled “on his own affairs” on routine business. Just one Parthian noble was accompanied by such a huge and imposing caravan when he travelled on routine business! Think how much larger would have been the caravan of a group of perhaps ten or twelve Parthian nobles, the Magi, travelling, not on routine business within Parthia, but through dangerous terrain with rich treasures and into Roman territory! Parthians believed in large numbers of armed escorts for VIPs. When an ambassador came to Parthia from China, an escort of 20,000 armed Parthian cavalrymen greeted him!18 Now you can understand why the whole city of Jerusalem was frightened when the Parthian Magi arrived to look for the young child of royal birth. They were accompanied by a gigantic caravan from Parthia moving toward Jerusalem. This column was escorted by many thousands of Parthia’s military cavalry. Many in Jerusalem feared the Parthians had come to start a war and besiege the city. The written form Moloch (in the Septuagint Greek translation of the Old Testament), or Molech (Hebrew), is no different than the word Melech or king, transformed by interposing the vowels of bosheth or ‘shameful thing’. He is sometimes also called Milcom in the Old Testament (1 Kings 11:5, 1 Kings 11:33, 2 Kings 23:13 and Zephaniah 1:5) Forms and grammar The Hebrew letters מלך (mlk) usually stands for melek ‘king’ (Proto-Northwest Semitic malku) but when vocalized as mÅlek in Masoretic Hebrew text, they have been traditionally understood as a proper name Μολοχ (molokh) (Proto-Northwest Semitic Mulku) in the corresponding Greek renderings in the Septuagint translation, in Aquila, and in the Greek Targum. The form usually appears in the compound lmlk. The Hebrew preposition l- means ‘to’, but it can often mean ‘for’ or ‘as a(n)’. Accordingly one can translate lmlk as “to Moloch” or “for Moloch” or “as a Moloch”, or “to the Moloch” or “for the Moloch” or “as the Moloch”, whatever a “Moloch” or “the Moloch” might be. We also once find hmlk ‘the Moloch’ standing by itself. Because there is no difference between mlk ‘king’ and mlk ‘moloch’ in unpointed text, interpreters sometimes suggest molek should be understood in certain places where the Masoretic text is vocalized as melek, and vice versa. Moloch has been traditionally interpreted as the name of a god, possibly a god titled the king, but purposely misvocalized as Molek instead of Melek using the vowels of Hebrew bosheth ‘shame’. Moloch appears in the Hebrew of 1 Kings 11.7 (on Solomon’s religious failings): Then did Solomon build a high place for Chemosh, the abomination of Moab, in the hill that is before Jerusalem, and lmlk, the abomination of the Sons of Ammon. But in other passages the god of the Ammonites is named Milcom, not Moloch (see 1 Kings 11.33; Zephaniah 1.5). The Septuagint reads Milcom in 1 Kings 11.7 instead of Moloch which suggests a scribal error in the Hebrew. Many English translations accordingly follow the non-Hebrew versions at this point and render Milcom. (The form mlkm can also mean ‘their king’ as well as Milcom and therefore one cannot always be sure in some other passages whether the King of Ammon is intended or the god Milcom.) It has also been suggested that the Baâ’al of Tyre, Melqart ‘king of the city’ (who was probably the Baâ’al whose worship was furthered by Ahab and his house) was this supposed god Moloch and that Melqart/Moloch was also Milcom the god of the Ammonites and identical with other gods whose names contain mlk. But nothing particularly suggests these identifications other than mlk in the various names. But you shall carry Sikkut your king, and Kiyyun, your images, the star-symbol of your god which you made for yourself. The Septuagint renders ‘your king’ as Moloch, perhaps from a scribal error, whence the verse appears in Acts 7.43: You have lifted up the shrine of Molech and the star of your god Rephan, the idols you made to worship. Accordingly this association of Moloch with these other gods is probably spurious. All other references to Moloch use mlk only in the context of “passing children through fire lmlk”, whatever is meant by lmlk, whether it means “to Moloch” or means something else. It has traditionally been understood to mean burning children alive to the god Moloch. But some have suggested a rite of purification by fire instead, though perhaps a dangerous one. References to passing through fire without mentioning mlk appear in Deuteronomy 12.31, 18.10–13; 2 Kings 21.6; Ezekiel 20.26,31; 23.37. So the existence of this practice is well documented. For a comparable practice of rendering infants immortal by passing them through the fire, indirectly attested in early Greek myth, see the entries for Thetis and also the myth of Demeter as the nurse of Demophon. Biblical texts The pertinent Biblical texts follow in very literal translation. The word here translated literally as ‘seed’ very often means offspring. The forms containing mlk have been left untranslated. The reader may substitute either “to Moloch” or “as a molk”. Leviticus 18.21 And you shall not let any of your seed pass through Mo’lech, neither shall you profane the name of your God: I am the Lord. Leviticus 20.25: Again, you shall say to the Sons of Israel: Whoever he be of the Sons of Israel or of the strangers that sojourn in Israel, that gives any of his seed Mo’lech; he shall surely be put to death: the people of the land shall stone him with stones. And I will set my face against that man and will cut him off from among his people; because he has given of his seed Mo’lech, to defile my sanctuary, and to profane my holy name. And if the people of the land do at all hide their eyes from that man, when he gives of his seed Mo’lech, and do not kill him, then I will set my face against that man, and against his family, and will cut him off, and all that go astray after him, whoring after Mo’lech from among the people. 2 Kings 23.10 (on King Josiah’s reform): And he defiled the Tophet, which is in the valley of Ben-hinnom, that no man might make his son or his daughter pass through the fire Mo’lech. Jeremiah 32.35: And they built the high places of the Ba’al, which are in the valley of Ben-hinnom, to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire Mo’lech; which I did not command them, nor did it come into my mind that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin. Moloch has also been referred to simply as a rebel angel. Traditional accounts and theories The 12th-century rabbi Rashi, commenting on Jeremiah 7.31 stated: Tophet is Moloch, which was made of brass; and they heated him from his lower parts; and his hands being stretched out, and made hot, they put the child between his hands, and it was burnt; when it vehemently cried out; but the priests beat a drum, that the father might not hear the voice of his son, and his heart might not be moved. A different rabbinical tradition says that the idol was hollow and was divided into seven compartments, in one of which they put flour, in the second turtle-doves, in the third a ewe, in the fourth a ram, in the fifth a calf, in the sixth an ox, and in the seventh a child, which were all burnt together by heating the statue inside. Later commentators have compared these accounts with similar ones from Greek and Latin sources speaking of the offering of children by fire as sacrifices in the Punic city of Carthage, which was a Phoenician colony. Cleitarchus, Diodorus Siculus and Plutarch all mention burning of children as an offering to Cronus or Saturn, that is to Ba’al Hammon, the chief god of Carthage. Issues and practices relating to Moloch and child sacrifice may also have been overemphasized for effect. After the Romans finally defeated Carthage and totally destroyed the city, they engaged in post-war propaganda to make their archenemies seem cruel and less civilized. Paul G. Mosca in his thesis (described below) translates Cleitarchus’ paraphrase of a scholia to Plato’s Republic as: There stands in their midst a bronze statue of Kronos, its hands extended over a bronze brazier, the flames of which engulf the child. When the flames fall upon the body, the limbs contract and the open mouth seems almost to be laughing until the contracted body slips quietly into the brazier. Thus it is that the ‘grin’ is known as ‘sardonic laughter,’ since they die laughing. Diodorus Siculus (20.14) wrote: There was in their city a bronze image of Cronus extending its hands, palms up and sloping toward the ground, so that each of the children when placed thereon rolled down and fell into a sort of gaping pit filled with fire. Diodorus also relates relatives were forbidden to weep and that when Agathocles defeated Carthage, the Carthaginian nobles believed they had displeased the gods by substituting low-born children for their own children. They attempted to make amends by sacrificing 200 children at once, children of the best families, and in their enthusiasm actually sacrificed 300 children. Plutarch wrote in De Superstitiones 171: … the whole area before the statue was filled with a loud noise of flutes and drums so that the cries of wailing should not reach the ears of the people. Lev.20:1-5 (NAB) The Lord said to Moses, (2) “Tell the Israelites : Anyone, whether an Israelite or an alien residing in Israel, who gives any of his offspring too Molech shall be put to death. Let his fellow citizens stone him. (3) I myself will turn against such a man and cut him off from the body of his people; for in giving his offspring to Molech, he has defiled my sanctuary and profaned my holy name. (4) Even if his fellow citizens connive at such a man’s crime of giving his offspring to Molech, and fail to put him to death, (5) I myself will set my face against that man and his family and will cut off from their people both him and all who join him in this wanton worship of Molech.” Yahweh didn’t want Israel to begin to look on Him like Molech. As incredible as it may sound in Psalm 106:34-28 it tells us that Israel did get involved in this worship. (34)They did not exterminate the peoples, as the Lord had commanded them, (35)But mingled with the nations and learned their works. (36)They served their idols, which became a snare for them. (37)They sacrificed their sons and their daughters to demons, (38)And they shed innocent blood, the blood of their sons and their daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan, desecrating the land with bloodshed; The Catholic Encyclopedia says the primitive title of this god was very probably Melech, “King”, the consonants came to be combined through derision with the vowels of the word BOSETH, “shame”. Or king of shame Speaking of the Phoenicians the catholic encyclopedia says “They deified the sun and the moon which they considered the great forces that create and destroy, and called them Baal, and Astaroth. Each city had its divine pair: at Sidon it was Baal Sidon (the sun) and Astarte (the moon); at Gebel , Baal Tummuz and Baaleth; at Carthage, Baal Hamon and Tanith. But the same god changed his name accordingly as he was conceived creator or destroyer; thus Baal as destroyer was worshipped at Cartage under the name of Moloch. As creators they were honored with orgies and tumultuous feast; as destroyers by human victims. Baal Moloch was figured at Carthage as a bronze colossus with arms extended and lowered. To appease him children were laid in his arms , and fell at once into a pit of fire. “ In Ezek 23:39 (NAB) Yahweh says ” On the very day they slew their children for their idols they entered my sanctuary to desecrate it.” The Israelite’s had mixed Yahweh’s worship with the worship of Moloch just as he had said not to. In Jeremiah 19:1-15 (NIV) Thus said the Lord, “Go, buy a potter’s earthen flask, and take some of the elders of the people and some of the senior priest, (2) and go out to the valley of the son of Hinnom at the entry of the Potsherd Gate , and proclaim there the words that I tell you. (3) You shall say, “Hear the word of the Lord, O kings of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem. Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, Behold, I am bringing such evil upon this place that the ears of every one who hears of it will tingle. (4) Because the people have forsaken me, and have profaned this place by burning incense in it to other gods whom neither they nor their fathers nor the kings of Judah have known; and because they have filled this place with the blood of innocents, (5) and have built the high places of Ba’al to burn their sons in the fire as burnt offerings to Ba’al, which I did not command or decree, nor did it come into my mind; (6) therefore , behold, days are coming, says the Lord , when this place shall no more be called Topheth, or the valley of the son of Hinnon, but the valley Slaughter. (7) And in this place I will make void the plans of Judah and Jerusalem, and will cause their people to fall by the sword before their enemies, and by the hand of those who seek their life. I will give their dead bodies for food to the birds of the air and to the beasts of the earth. (8) And I will make this city a horror, a thing to be hissed at ; every one who passes by it will be horrified and will hiss because of all its disasters. (9) And I will make them eat the flesh of their sons and their daughters, and every one shall eat the flesh of his neighbor in the siege and in the distress, with which their enemies and those who seek their life afflict them.” (10) Then you shall break the flask in the sight of the men who go with you, (11) and you shall say to them, “Thus says the Lord of hosts: So will I break this people and this city, as one breaks a potters vessel, so that it can never be mended. Men shall bury in Topheth because there will be no place else to bury. (12) Thus will I do to this place, says the Lord, and to its inhabitants, making this city like Topheth. (13) The houses of Jerusalem and the houses of the kings of Judah – all the house upon whose roofs incense has been burned to all the host of heaven, and drink offerings have been pored out to other gods – shall be defiled like the place of Topheth.” (14)Then Jeremiah came from Topheth, where the Lord had sent him to prophesy , and he stood in the court of the Lord’s house, and said to all the people: (15) “Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, Behold, I am bringing upon this city and upon all its towns all the evil that I have pronounced against it, because they have stiffened their neck, refusing to hear my words.” Topheth in Strongs concordance is #8612 taken from #8611 to mean a smiting or contempt. Tophteh #8613 is from #8612 meaning a place of cremation. And #8611 is taken from #8608 taphaph meaning to play on the drum the tambourine; play with timbrels. Note it says that the drums were played to drown out the screams of the children who were being cremated alive. From the Catholic encyclopedia, Topheth was the place where Judas Iscariot hung himself and his body fell and burst open on the rocks below. The field of blood (Haceldama). From the Chamber Encyclopedia under Molech, it is clear that in Palestine and Syria from at least the 18th century BC infants about 8 days old were sacrificed and buried in womb shape jars, possibly in connection with fertility rites. In the king cult, the king was regarded as the son embodiment of god & the Hebrew phrase “to the molech” may have meant for the sake of the life of the king. Remember we said earlier Melek = king of the netherworld. Jeremiah (NIV)7: 30-31For the sons of Judah have done evil in my sight , says the Lord; they have set their abomination in the house which is called by my name, to defile it (31) And they have built the high place of Topheth which is in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to burn their sons and their daughters in the fire, which I did not command nor did it come into my mind. Jeremiah (NIV) 8:1-2 At that time, say the Lord, the bones of the kings of Judah, the bones of its princes, the bones of the priest, the bones of the prophets and the bones of the inhabitants of Jerusalem shall be brought out of their tombs; (2) and they shall be spread before the sun and the moon and all the host of heaven, which they have loved and served, which they have gone after, and which they have sought and worshipped; and they shall not be gathered or buried; they shall be as dung on the surface of the ground. Note: They are worshiping the sun god Ba’al Moloch and the moon god Astarte. That’s why Yahweh spreads them out before their god as dung. Jeremiah (NIV)32:28,30-35 “Behold I am giving this city into the hands of the Chaldeans and into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar King of Babylon and he shall take it. (30) For the sons of Israel and the sons of Judah have done nothing but evil in my sight from their youth; the sons of Israel have done nothing but provoke me to anger by the works of their hands, says the Lord. (31) This city has aroused my anger and wrath, from the day it was built to this day, so that I will remove it from my sight (32) because of all the evil the sons of Israel and the sons of Judah which they did to provoke me to anger – their kings and their princes, their priest and their prophets, the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem. (33) They have turned to me their back and not their face; and though I have taught them persistently they have not listened to receive instruction. (34) They have set up their abominations in the house which is called by my name, to defile it. (35) They built the high places of Ba’al in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to offer up their sons and daughters to Molech, though I did not command them , nor did it enter into my mind, that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin. So in the early 600’s BC in Jeremiah’s time, this was the official religion and it included child sacrifices.!! But even in King Solomon’s day, it was going on. 1 Kings 11:1-13 (NKJV) But King Solomon loved many foreign woman, as well as the daughter of Pharaoh: women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Sidonians, and Hittites- (2) from the nations of whom the Lord had said to the children of Israel, “You shall not intermarry with them , nor they with you. Surely they will turn away your hearts after their gods.” Solomon clung to these in love. (3) And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines; and his wives turned away his heart. (4)For it was so, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned his heart after other gods; and his heart was not loyal to the Lord his God, as was the heart of his father David. (5) For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites. (6) Solomon did evil in the sight of the Lord, and did not fully follow the Lord, as did his father David. [Notes He partially followed Yahweh and partially followed other gods. Mixing Yahweh’s religion with foreign gods.] Then Solomon built a high place for Chemosh the abomination of Moab, on the hill that is east of Jerusalem, (Mount of Olives and Mount of Corruption, 2 Kings 23:13) and for Molech the abomination of the people of Ammon. (8) And he did likewise for all his foreign wives, who burned incense and sacrificed to their gods. So the Lord became angry with Solomon, because his heart had turned from the Lord God of Israel, who had appeared to him twice, (10) and had commanded him concerning this thing, that he should not go after other gods; but he did not keep what the Lord had commanded. (11) therefore the Lord said to Solomon, “Because you have done this, and have not kept My covenant and My statutes, which I have commanded you, I will surely tear the kingdom away from you and give it to your servant. (12) Nevertheless I will not do it in your days for the sake of your father David; I will tear it out of the hand of your son. (13) However I will not tear away the whole kingdom; I will give one tribe to your son for the sake of my servant David, and for the sake of Jerusalem which I have chosen. Note. Solomon’s weakness greatly encouraged this worship, and for this reason, Yahweh stripped the dynasty from him. Because he and his wives were sacrificing children. 2 Kings 16:1-4 (NKJV) In the seventeenth year of Pekah the son of Remaliah, Ahaz, the son of Jothan, king of Judah began to reign. (2) Ahaz was twenty years old when he became king, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem; and he did not do what was right in the sight of the Lord his God, as his father David had done. (3) But he walked in the way of the kings of Israel; indeed he made his son pass through the fire, according to the abominations of the nations whom the Lord had cast out from before the children of Israel. (4) And he sacrificed and burned incense on the high places, on the hills and under every green tree. 2 Chronicles 28:3 (NKJV) He burned incense in the valley of the son of Hinnom, and burned his children in the fire, according to the abominations of the nations whom the Lord had cast out before the children of Israel. 2 Chronicles 33:1-9 (NKJV) Manassah was twelve years old when he became king, and he reigned fifty five years in Jerusalem. (2) But he did evil in the sight of the Lord , according to the abominations of the nations whom the Lord had cast out before the children of Israel. (3) For he rebuilt the high places which Hezekiah his father had broken down; [My notes Hezekiah was Ahaz’s son.] he raised up altars for the Ba’als, and made wooden images; and he worshiped all the host of heaven and served them. [Chambers Encyclopedia melech was often used as divine name for heavenly king.] (4) He also built altars in the house of the Lord of which the Lord had said “In Jerusalem shall My name be forever”. (5) And he built altars for all the host of heaven in the two courts of the house of the Lord. (6) Also he caused his sons to pass through the fire in the Valley of the son of Hinnom; he practiced soothsaying, used witchcraft and sorcery. He did much evil in the sight of the Lord to provoke Him to anger. (7) he even set a carved image , the idol which he had made , in the house of God,..(9) So Manassah seduced Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to do more evil than the nations whom the Lord had destroyed before the children of Israel. [Read on to see how Manassah repented.] In 2 Kings 23: 1-28 we read how Josiah destroyed all the altars and poles and shrines. It is a good read but I want to point out the following scriptures. (5)Then he removed the idolatrous priests whom the kings of Judah had ordained to burn incense on the high places in the cities of Judah and in the places all around Jerusalem and those who burned incense to Ba’al , to the sun, to the moon , to the constellations, and to the host of heaven. (10) And he defiled Topheth, which is in the Valley of the son of Hinnom, that no man might make his son or daughter pass through the fire to Molech. (11) then he removed the horses that the kings of Judah had dedicated to the sun, at the entrance to the house of the Lord, and he burned the chariots of the sun with fire. And again in the book of Acts, Stephen just before he is martyred says in Acts 7:42-43 Then God turned and gave them over to worship the whole host of heaven, as it is written in the prophets; (43) You also took up the tabernacle of Moloch, And the star of your god Remphan, images which you made to worship;.. Stephen is quoting Amos 5:25-27 where he says in verse (26) You also carried Sikkuth (Moloch) your king and Chiun your idols, the star of your idols which you made for yourselves. It says in Amos 5:21 I hate, I despise your feast days, and I do not savor your sacred assemblies. Why does God hate our feast days? We know how much he hates Molech and Astarte , but we don’t worship them. Or Do we??? DO YOU? In Ezekiel 20: 18-21 “But I said to the children in the wilderness, “Do not walk in the statutes of your fathers, nor observe their judgements, nor defile yourselves with their idols. (19) I am the Lord your God: Walk in My statutes, keep My judgements, and do them; (20) HALLOW My Sabbaths, and they will be a sign between Me and you, that you may know that I am the Lord your God. (26) and I pronounced them unclean because of their ritual gifts, in that they caused all their firstborn to pass through the fire, that I might make them desolate and that they might know that I am the Lord. (31) “For when you offer your gifts and make your sons pass through the fire, you defile yourselves with all your idols, even to this day. That day was in Ezekiel’s day, but as Revelation 2:14 points out it was still going on in the 90’s AD. (14) But I have a few things against you, because you have there those who hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balaak to put a stumbling block before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed to idols, and to commit sexual immorality. (15) Thus you also have those who hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans which thing I hate, The Catholic Encyclopedia on Nicolatians reveals very little other than to say, ” based on the identical meaning of the names to the Bileamites or Balaamites (Rev 2:14) who are mentioned just before them as professing the same doctrines. The Catholic Encyclopedia under Moloch it says,” The offerings by fire, the probable identity of Moloch with Baal, and the fact that in Assyria and Babylonia Malik, and at Palmyra Malach-bel, were sun-gods, have suggested to many that Moloch was a fire or sun-god. Palestinian excavations have uncovered evidences of infant skeletons in burial places around heathen shrines. Ammonites revered Molech as a protecting father…No form of ancient Semitic idolatry was more abhorrent than Molech worship.”[1] From Milton’s Paradise Lost: “First Moloch, horrid king, besmeared with blood Of human sacrifice, and parents’ tears, Though, for the noise of drums and timbrels loud,Their children’s cries unheard, that passed through fire to his grim idol.” Exactly how human sacrifices were made is uncertain, but some rabbinic writers suggest that Moloch was worshipped in the form of a hollow brass statue in the shape of a human but with a head of an ox. The children were placed inside the statue which was then heated from below. The cries of the victims were drowned out by the beating of drums. One ancient description of Moloch reads: “Unlike the houses of the other idols, that of Moloch was set outside the city. It was gigantic in form and had the head of what appeared to be an ox, the hands stretched out as if to receive something, the body was hollow inside. Before the idol, there were seven temples, the first six of which were employed for the sacrifice of various fowl and animals, the seventh reserved for a human sacrifice.” [2] Diodorus has a slightly different description of the ritualistic sacrifices offered to Moloch: “First, the devotee would kiss the image of Moloch. He would then make a fire under the idol, which would quickly cause the hands of the statue to become red-hot. A victim would then be placed in the hands to suffer an agonizing death. His cries would be muffed by the drums. While this was taking place, the prophets would dance around an altar, with violent gesticulations, and, having excited themselves to a pitch of frenzy by it, as well as by their fearful vociferations they began to cut their bodies with knives and lancets. In this unnatural state they began to prophesy, or rather rave, as if possessed by some invisible power.” [3] “The etymology of the term ‘Molech’ is interesting. Scholars suggest that it is a deliberate misvocalization of the Hebrew word for king or for the related participle (molek), ‘ruler.’ They propose that the consonants for the Hebrew word for king (mlk) were combined with the vowels from the word for shame (boshet) [king of shame]. Thus, this title was a divine epithet expressing contempt for the pagan god.” [4] This has lead many to believe that the word “Moloch” is not a proper name at all. An article by Moshe Weinfeld in the Encyclopedia Judaica has an opposing viewpoint on the ritualistic worship and identity of Moloch: “The testimonies of the Pentateuch, which seem to be the most ancient and therefore the most reliable ones, should be divided, according to the formulation of the law, into two groups: the laws of the Holiness Code which speak about giving or passing children (lit. seed) to Moloch (Lev. 18:21; 20:2, 3, 4) and the law in Deuteronomy which speaks of ‘passing [one’s] son or daughter through fire’ (18:10). The author of the Book of Kings, who was influenced ideologically and stylistically by Deuteronomy, speaks about ‘passing [one’s] son and daughter through fire’ (II Kings 16:3; 17:17; 21:6). II Kings 23:10 speaks about ‘passing [one’s] son or daughter through fire to Moloch,’ which actually constitutes a conflation of the formula in Leviticus with that of Deuteronomy. In all these sources there is no mention of ‘burning’ or ‘sacrificing’ (slaughtering) children to Moloch. These latter terms are found, on the other hand, in the prophetic sources: Jeremiah 7:31; 19:5; Ezekiel 16:21; 20:31; 23:37, 39; and one may add here Isaiah 57:5; and Psalms 106:37-38. The difference in the presentation of the Moloch worship in the legal-historical and in the prophetic sources is significant. A legislator has to be precise in his formulation and therefore his description is more trustworthy than that of the prophet or preacher who tends to exaggerate. At any rate, the fact that the legal-historical, in contrast to the prophetic poetic, sources do not mention real burning should serve as a warning against a hasty identification of Moloch with human sacrifice. The Spiritual health of our future lies in what our children grow to adopt as their truth. Society, not just parents, also influences our children, and sometimes the teaching of society is stronger than the teaching the parents give to our kids. But that doesn’t mean we give up and let society teach our kids. We must speak plainly and emphatically to our children and teach them the truth. In the coming season, the influence in our society will be about Christmas. I know this influence is strong in Kenya, as while we were out grocery shopping in Nairobi, a group of kids came up and started commenting on Stuart’s long white beard and associating him with Santa and began singing “We wish you a Merry Christmas”. Through rounds of this song we had to get into the van and get away from their begging for items from our grocery order. Yehovah also has had a hard time teaching His Own Children to worship Him in purity without adding in the worship of the pagan gods. The influences of the world are strong, behind these influences of course is the Devil, the deceiver, the destroyer, the one who leads us to worship the dead. Deuteronomy 30:19 I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live; In the news this week, there was a situation in Israel where two Palestinians drove their vehicle into a crowd of people, and one man got out of the car and started stabbing the victims who had been run down. Both these terrorists were killed by soldiers in the area, but the father of one of these 18 year old terrorists praised his son and said he knew from childhood his son would die a martyr. This father was proud of his son. This is a culture of death, a culture that celebrates the death of their children and the destruction of anyone… whether Jew, Christian, American, or even anyone who is not of their own sect of Islam. This culture of death, are we guilty of teaching this to our children too? Are we teaching our children to choose life?If we are allowing the teaching of Christmas to influence our children, if we are allowing lies to infiltrate our worship of Yehovah, then all measures of other lies will easily lead our kids astray. Yehovah gave us some plain instructions in Jeremiah regarding what’s called in our modern day the Christmas Tree. Jeremiah 10:1-10 1Hear the word which the Lord speaks to you, O house of Israel. 2 Thus says the Lord: “Do not learn the way of the Gentiles; Do not be dismayed at the signs of heaven, For the Gentiles are dismayed at them. 3 For the customs of the peoples are [a]futile; For one cuts a tree from the forest, The work of the hands of the workman, with the ax. 4 They decorate it with silver and gold; They fasten it with nails and hammers So that it will not topple. 5 They are upright, like a palm tree, And they cannot speak; They must be carried, Because they cannot go by themselves. Do not be afraid of them, For they cannot do evil, Nor can they do any good.” 6 Inasmuch as there is none like You, O Lord (You are great, and Your name is great in might), 7 Who would not fear You, O King of the nations? For this is Your rightful due. For among all the wise men of the nations, And in all their kingdoms, There is none like You.8 But they are altogether dull-hearted and foolish; A wooden idol is a [b]worthless doctrine. 9 Silver is beaten into plates; It is brought from Tarshish, And gold from Uphaz, The work of the craftsman And of the hands of the metalsmith; Blue and purple are their clothing; They are all the work of skillful men. 10 But the Lord is the true God; He is the living God and the everlasting King. At His wrath the earth will tremble, And the nations will not be able to endure His indignation. This is an idol and even the singing regarding this tree is worship – it will bring Yehovah’s indignation. We are told not to learn the ways of the Gentiles, it is difficult, it’s everywhere, everyone is doing it. Even if Kenyan’s are not putting this tree up in their homes, the venerating of such a symbol is worshipping an idol. If we are teaching our children songs to sing about this tree, or about the season, we are teaching the children to mix in the pagan worship towards Yehovah. We are teaching our children syncretism. Let me tell you a little of the history of Santa. There really was a man named Nicolas, who was the Bishop of Myra, located in Turkey, in the 4th century. He is said to have suffered persecution under Diocletian, then rescued from prison by Constantine. He is said to be known for generosity, to children and destitute women who would have otherwise fallen into prostitution, providing them with dowries. He is said to have been part of the Counsel of Nicea. Because he is said to have restored some women to life after being butchered to death, he was made a saint, and his name went from Saint Nicholas to Sinterklaus to Santa Claus. This European tradition of venerating this man for his generosity was brought to North America and became the Santa Claus of modern day Christmas. Now some say, “We don’t keep Christmas about Santa Claus, we keep it because it’s the birthday of Jesus”. I can prove to you, it is not. We must follow a trail through scripture to determine when Yeshua was born, and prove it was not December 25. The trail starts with Zechariah who is serving in the temple.Luke 1:5-7 5 There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the division of Abijah. His wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth. 6 And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless. 7 But they had no child, because Elizabeth was barren, and they were both well advanced in years. What is this division of Abijah? We follow the trail to 1 Chronicles 24:3-10 [3] With the help of Zadok of the sons of Eleazar, and Ahimelech of the sons of Ithamar, David organized them according to the appointed duties in their service. [4] Since more chief men were found among the sons of Eleazar than among the sons of Ithamar, they organized them under sixteen heads of fathers’ houses of the sons of Eleazar, and eight of the sons of Ithamar. [5] They divided them by lot, all alike, for there were sacred officers and officers of God among both the sons of Eleazar and the sons of Ithamar. [6] And the scribe Shemaiah, the son of Nethanel, a Levite, recorded them in the presence of the king and the princes and Zadok the priest and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar and the heads of the fathers’ houses of the priests and of the Levites, one father’s house being chosen for Eleazar and one chosen for Ithamar. [7] The first lot fell to Jehoiarib, the second to Jedaiah, [8] the third to Harim, the fourth to Seorim, [9] the fifth to Malchijah, the sixth to Mijamin, [10] the seventh to Hakkoz, the eighth to Abijah, , Ah, there’s Abijah – Abijah is of the 8th division of these priests chosen for appointed duties So if we count from the barley, every two weeks the division changes, so 16 weeks from the barley was when Zechariah was in the temple. He goes home from his term of service when his wife Elizabeth gets pregnant. Then the Angel comes to Mary when Elizabeth is 6 months pregnant. Luke 1:36 [36] And behold, your relative Elizabeth in her old age has also conceived a son, and this is the sixth month with her who was called barren. Zerchariah served from the 16th to the 18th week of this year, this would be half way through the 4th month when Elizabeth conceived then. 6 months later makes it about midway through the 10th month. Now let’s read about when Mary conceives. Luke 1:26-31[26] In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, [27] to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. And the virgin’s name was Mary. [28] And he came to her and said, “Greetings, O favored one, the Lord is with you!” [29] But she was greatly troubled at the saying, and tried to discern what sort of greeting this might be. [30] And the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. [31] And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. From the midpoint of the 10th month we add 9 months of pregnancy for Mary, this brings us to the end of that year and then another 7 months. If that year John was born in was a 13 month year, Yeshua would then be born on Yom Teruah, the first day of the 7th month. This fits with the symbolism of the Feast of Trumpets which is a day where we shout for joy, a day the trumpets bring announcement that the Bridegroom is coming, or warning that the Atonement is near. If the feast of Shouting, YomTeruah, is part of the picture, then somewhere in the birth of Yeshua story we would see something about shouting or heralding, and we do in Luke 2:8-20 8 Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. 9 And [c]behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. 10 Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. 11 For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. 12 And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a [d]manger. ” 13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: 14 “Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill[e] toward men!” 15 So it was, when the angels had gone away from them into heaven, that the shepherds said to one another, “Let us now go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has come to pass, which the Lord has made known to us.” 16 And they came with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the Babe lying in a manger. 17 Now when they had seen Him, they made [f]widely known the saying which was told them concerning this Child. 18 And all those who heard it marveled at those things which were told them by the shepherds. 19 But Mary kept all these things and pondered them in her heart. 20 Then the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told them.The evidence points to Yeshua born in the fall, not in the winter. Another sign that this is so, is that shepherds are not on the hillside in winter, for it is too cold. In winter the sheep are brought back down to the corral and fed in the protected space with hay harvested for this season. Another evidence is that of the moon beneath the Virgin’s feet. Let me show you the picture in the heavens. This picture can only be in the Fall, not in the winter. This is the picture telling us when the New Moon of the 7th Month in the year 3 BC was. This image can only be seen for about an hour on that day and none other in the time frame when Yeshua was born. Revelation 12:1-2 Now a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a garland of twelve stars. 2 Then being with child, she cried out in labor and in pain to give birth. You will find much more detailed explanation of when Yeshua was born in the book “It was a Riddle, Not a Command” by Joseph F DumondSo who is this that is born in December, on the 25th day, that we have been deceptively taught is the Messiah’s birth? Why was this date told to us? It is Mithra, the Iranian god of oaths, the friend, the god of obligations, the god of good relations. Mithra is the sun god. Deuteronomy 4:19 And take heed, lest you lift your eyes to heaven, and when you see the sun, the moon, and the stars, all the host of heaven, you feel driven to worship them and serve them, which the LORD your God has given to all the peoples under the whole heaven as a heritage. Deuteronomy 17:2-7 2 “If there is found among you, within any of your [c]gates which the LORD your God gives you, a man or a woman who has been wicked in the sight of the LORD your God, in transgressing His covenant, 3 who has gone and served other gods and worshiped them, either the sun or moon or any of the host of heaven, which I have not commanded, 4 and it is told you, and you hear of it, then you shall inquire diligently. And if it is indeed true and certain that such an [d]abomination has been committed in Israel, 5 then you shall bring out to your gates that man or woman who has committed that wicked thing, and shall stone to death that man or woman with stones. 6 Whoever is deserving of death shall be put to death on the testimony of two or three witnesses; he shall not be put to death on the testimony of one witness. 7 The hands of the witnesses shall be the first against him to put him to death, and afterward the hands of all the people. So you shall put away the evil from among you. There is grave consequences for worshipping this Mithra – this sun god – for making oath with this idol. December 25, the winter solstice is known as “the birthday of the unconquered sun” or as the Romans called it Invicus Sol. Let me read to you from a website called Early Church History 101 The records actually show that Constantine seemed to act in genuine Christian charity while at the same time continuing to embrace various aspects of Sun worship. But it must also be remembered that prior to Constantine early Christians had already co-opted aspects of Sun worship. Clement of Alexandria portrays Christ, like the Sun-god, racing his chariot across the sky. Many pagans accused the Christians of Sun worship because they met on Sunday mornings – the early Christians did this to celebrate “the Lord’s Day”as opposed to the Jewish Sabbath. Early in the fourth century the birthday of the Sun-god was co-opted as the day to celebrate the nativity of Jesus – there is no clear record of who started this tradition. You see, the infiltration of this sun-god into the Christian Faith was right from the beginning with Constantine and the Counsel of Nicea when they changed the Sabbath to Sunday and changed the day of Yeshua birth to that of Mithra’s birth. We have been subtly lied to, just like Eve was by the Serpent in the Garden of Eden. The sly whispers of Satan over the ages has taught us as children, our parents as children, our grandparents as children, before we had discernment to know Truth and stand for Truth. So the subtle lie regarding Santa Claus is that we have not learned the truth of where this tradition of having your children sit in the lap of Santa Claus comes from Jeremiah 9:13- 16 13 And the LORD said, “Because they have forsaken My law which I set before them, and have not obeyed My voice, nor walked according to it, 14 but they have walked according to the dictates of their own hearts and after the Baals, which their fathers taught them,” 15 therefore thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: “Behold, I will feed them, this people, with wormwood, and give them water of gall to drink. 16 I will scatter them also among the Gentiles, whom neither they nor their fathers have known. And I will send a sword after them until I have consumed them.” Jeremiah 9:25-26 25 “Behold, the days are coming,” says the LORD, “that I will punish all who are circumcised with the uncircumcised— 26 Egypt, Judah, Edom, the people of Ammon, Moab, and all who are in the farthest corners, who dwell in the wilderness. For all these nations are uncircumcised, and all the house of Israel are uncircumcised in the heart.” The Circumcised children of Israel had forsaken the Instructions of the Torah and were worshipping Baals – the Baals of Egypt, Edom, Ammon and Moab. We were warned not to do this. Leviticus 18:21 And you shall not let any of your descendants pass through the fire to Molech, nor shall you profane the name of your God: I am the LORD. We’re told right here not to let our descendants – that means our children – pass through the fire of Molech. Who is this Molech? Long before Jeremiah wrote his Prophetic words into a book, King Solomon, who was seduced by his many wives later in life,brought pagan gods into the city and put them up on the Hills to the east of the Temple – that is, he erected monuments to false gods at Golgotha. 1 Kings 11:7 Then Solomon built a high place for Chemosh the abomination of Moab, on the hill that is east of Jerusalem, and for Molech the abomination of the people of Ammon. Molech is the god of the Ammonites. A picture is worth a thousand words, so take a good look at this image. This is a bronze statue, that they heat with fire until the bronze is bright red. They then lay a child in the arms of the statue. This is the form of worship to this baal – sacrificing children. Now let me show you the connection between Molech and Santa ClausSatan’s deceit has transformed the horrific practice of child sacrifice into a seemingly harmless tradition. During Christmas, families worldwide intentionally extend this ancient pagan ritual by bringing their children to sit on the lap of Santa Claus, a figure strikingly reminiscent of idols like Molech. Children have a keen sense of awareness ofdanger and can sense the evil in the man in the red suit. I opened this message with a current story, the story of the terrorism in Israel, and the praise the father gave of his son’s actions. Parents who bring their children to sit in Santa’s lap do it with conviction that they are doing a good thing, just like this terrorist’s father was convicted. He believes he was doing a good thing raising his son to die while killing Jews. The subtle message behind the Christmas tree, Santa and Christmas day is that we are worshipping Yehovah, while quietly we have chosen death over life, we have chosen this abomination of sacrificing our children to this Molech, this culture of death. Why are we so surprised we are having trouble raising our children to serve Yehovah with purity, with righteousness, with obedience to the Torah when we have allowed this whisper of the serpent to slither into our lives. Let me share with you another little piece of history. It comes from the book of Maccabees.The books of Maccabees are not scripture, they are not the inspired word of Yehovah, but they do give historical telling of the world into which Yeshua was born. All the Gentiles and even many of the Israelites submitted to this decree. They adopted the official pagan religion, offered sacrifices to idols, and no longer observed the Sabbath. 44 The king also sent messengers with a decree to Jerusalem and all the towns of Judea, ordering the people to follow customs that were foreign to the country. 45 Heordered them not to offer burnt offerings, grain offerings, or wine offerings in the Temple, and commanded them to treat Sabbaths and festivals as ordinary work days. 46 They were even ordered to defile the Temple and the holy things in it.[e] 47 They were commanded to build pagan altars, temples, and shrines, and to sacrifice pigs and other unclean animals there. 48 They were forbidden to circumcise their sons and were required to make themselves ritually unclean in every way they could, 49 so that they would forget the Law which the Lord had given through Moses and would disobey all its commands. 50 The penalty for disobeying the king’s decree was death. 51 The king not only issued the same decree throughout his whole empire, but he also appointed officials to supervise the people and commanded each town in Judea to offer pagan sacrifices. 52 Many of the Jews were ready to forsake the Law and to obey these officials. They defiled the land with their evil, 53 and their conduct forced all true Israelites to hide wherever they could. 54 On the fifteenth day of the month of Kislev in the year 145,[f] King Antiochus set up The Awful Horror on the altar of the Temple, and pagan altars were built in the towns throughout Judea. 55 Pagan sacrifices were offered in front of houses and in the streets. 56 Any books of the Law which were found were torn up and burned, 57 and anyone who was caught with a copy of the sacred books or who obeyed the Law was put to death by order of the king. 58 Month after month these wicked people used their power against the Israelites caught in the towns. 59 On the twenty-fifth of the month, these same evil people offered sacrifices on the pagan altar erected on top of the altar in the Temple. 60 Mothers who had allowed their babies to be circumcised were put to death in accordance with the king’s decree. 61 Their babies were hung around their necks, and their families and those who had circumcised them were put to death. 62 But many people in Israel firmly resisted the king’s decree and refused to eat food that was ritually unclean. 63 They preferred to die rather than break the holy covenant and eat unclean food—and many did die. 64 In his anger God made Israel suffer terribly. All the Gentiles and even many of the Israelites submitted to this decree. They adopted the official pagan religion, offered sacrifices to idols, and no longer observed the Sabbath. This is what our world looks like today. This is what the Christian Church looks like today. And this is the same thing that is going on when people are celebratingChristmas, they have bowed to the influences of the world, the oppression of Satan – and have become like these Hellenized Jews in the days before Yeshua was born. I encourage you to keep reading the history in the book of 1 and 2 Maccabees – specifically about Mattatias and his sons who fought to uphold the Torah against the persecution of the Greeks – even to die to save the Jews from the Greeks. There is a story in 2 Maccabees 7 about a woman named Hannah whose 7 sons were killed because they would not forsake the Torah. Are we teaching our children to be willing to die to uphold the Torah? Are we willing to die to uphold the Torah? Or are we going to allow the wiles of the devil to infiltrate us and whisper to us that it’s ok to allow a little syncretism, allow us to put up a little fence law like Eve saying that Yehovah said we could not even touch the tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. Any time we add to or take away from the Torah, we are tearing down the walls that Yehovah put up around the Garden of Eden to keep it separate from this world. We were designed to live in the Garden, but we can’t live in the Garden if we are going to listen to the one who came to steal, kill and destroy. John 10:10 The thief comes only in order to steal, kill, and destroy. I have come in order that you might have life—life in all its fullness. - 81#60 Who is The ANTI-CHRIST? Who is Jesus Christ? | Part 2Having now read all of John’s letters, who is the antichrist he is warning you about? Those who do not and will not obey the commandments and they who do not believe Yehshua is the anointed or Messiah. But before you do as other Christians do and begin to point the finger at the Jews, let’s now read some scriptures they have in the Old Testament. Yehovah is our Redeemer. Isa 41:13 For I, Jehovah your God, will hold your right hand, saying to you, Do not fear; I will help you. Isa 41:14 Do not fear, worm of Jacob and men of Israel; I will help you, says Jehovah, and your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel. Yehovah is our Savior! Israel’s Only Savior Isa 43:1 But now so says Jehovah who created you, O Jacob, and He who formed you, O Israel; Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; you are Mine. Isa 43:2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned; nor shall the flame kindle on you. Isa 43:3 For I am Jehovah your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior; I gave Egypt for your ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for you. Isa 43:4 Since you were precious in My sight, you have been honored, and I have loved you; therefore I will give men for you, and people for your life. Isa 43:5 Fear not; for I am with you. I will bring your seed from the east, and gather you from the west. Isa 43:6 I will say to the north, Give up; and to the south, Do not keep back; bring My sons from far and My daughters from the ends of the earth; Isa 43:7 everyone who is called by My name; for I have created him for My glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him. Isa 43:8 Bring out the blind people who have eyes, and the deaf who have ears. Isa 43:9 Let all the nations be brought together, and let the people be gathered; who among them can declare this and make us hear former things? Let them bring out their witnesses, that they may be justified; or let them hear, and say, It is true. Isa 43:10 You are My witnesses, says Jehovah, and My servant whom I have chosen; that you may know and believe Me, and understand that I am He. Before Me no God was formed, nor shall there be after Me. Isa 43:11 I, I am Jehovah; and there is none to save besides Me. Isa 43:12 I have declared, and have saved, and I have shown, when there was no strange god among you; therefore you are My witnesses, says Jehovah, that I am God. Isa 43:13 Yea, before the day was, I am He; and no one delivers out of My hand; I will work, and who will reverse it? Isa 43:14 So says Jehovah, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; For your sake I have sent to Babylon, and have brought down all of them as fugitives, and the Chaldeans, whose shout is in the ships. Isa 43:15 I am Jehovah, your Holy One, the Creator of Israel, your King. Isa 43:16 So says Jehovah, who makes a way in the sea and a path in the mighty waters; Isa 43:17 who brings out the chariot and horse, the army and the power; they shall lie down together, they shall not rise; they are put out, they are snuffed out like a wick. Isa 43:18 Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old. Isa 43:19 Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall sprout; shall you not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, rivers in the desert. Isa 43:20 The beasts of the field shall honor Me, the jackals and the ostriches; because I give waters in the wilderness, rivers in the desert, to give drink to My people, My chosen. Isa 43:21 This people that I formed for Myself; they shall declare My praise. Isa 43:22 But you have not called on Me, O Jacob; but you have been weary of Me, O Israel. Isa 43:23 You have not brought Me the lamb of your burnt offerings; nor have you honored Me with your sacrifices. I have not caused you to serve with an offering, nor wearied you with incense. Isa 43:24 You have bought Me no sweet cane with silver, nor have you filled Me with the fat of your sacrifices; but you have burdened Me with your sins; you have wearied Me with your iniquities. Isa 43:25 I, I am He who blots out your sins for My own sake, and will not remember your sins. Isa 43:26 Cause Me to remember; let us enter into judgment; declare yourself, that you may be justified. Isa 43:27 Your first father has sinned, and your teachers have sinned against Me. Isa 43:28 And I will defile rulers of the sanctuary, and will give Jacob to the curse, and Israel to reproaches. There is no other gods besides Yehovah. There are not two or three. There is no Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Yehovah and He alone is our saviour. Isa 45:5 I am Jehovah, and there is none else, no God besides Me; I clothed you, though you have not known Me; Isa 45:6 that they may know from the rising of the sun, and to the sunset, that there is none besides Me. I am Jehovah, and there is none else; Isa 45:7 forming the light and creating darkness; making peace and creating evil. I Jehovah do all these things. Isa 45:8 Drop down from above, O heavens, and let the clouds pour down righteousness. Let the earth open, and let salvation bear fruit; and let righteousness spring up together. I Jehovah have created it. The Lord, the Only Savior Isa 45:14 So says Jehovah, The labor of Egypt, and merchandise of Ethiopia, and of the Sabeans, men of stature, shall come to you, and they shall be yours. They shall come after you in chains; and they shall cross in chains and they shall fall down to you. They shall plead to you, saying, Surely God is in you; and none else, no other God. Isa 45:15 Truly You are a God who hides Yourself, O God of Israel, the Savior. Isa 45:16 They shall be ashamed, and also confounded, all of them; they who are makers of idols shall go into disgrace together. Isa 45:17 But Israel shall be saved in Jehovah with an everlasting salvation. You shall not be ashamed nor blush to the forevers of eternity. Isa 45:18 For so says Jehovah the Creator of the heavens, He is God, forming the earth and making it; He makes it stand, not creating it empty, but forming it to be inhabited. I am Jehovah, and there is no other. Isa 45:19 I have not spoken in secret, in a dark place of the earth. I did not say to the seed of Jacob, Seek me in vain. I Jehovah speak righteousness, I declare things that are right. Isa 45:20 Gather yourselves and come; draw near together, escaped ones of the nations; those who set up the wood of their graven image, and those that pray to a god that cannot save. They know nothing. Isa 45:21 Declare and bring near; yea, let them take counsel together. Who has declared this of old? Who has told it from then? Is it not I, Jehovah? And there is no other God besides Me; a just God and a Savior; there is none besides Me. Isa 45:22 Turn to Me, and be saved, all the ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other. Isa 45:23 I have sworn by Myself, the word has gone out of My mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, that to Me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear. Isa 45:24 He says, Only in Jehovah do I have righteousness and strength; even to Him he comes. And they are ashamed, all who are angry with Him. Isa 45:25 In Jehovah shall all the seed of Israel be justified, and shall glory. The Lord Is My Strength and My Song Isa 12:1 And in that day you shall say, O Jehovah, I will praise You; though You were angry with me, turn away Your anger, and You shall comfort me. Isa 12:2 Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; He also has become my salvation. Isa 12:3 And with joy you shall draw water out of the wells of salvation. Isa 12:4 And in that day you shall say, Praise Jehovah! Call on His name; declare His doings among the people, make mention that His name is exalted. Isa 12:5 Sing to Jehovah; for He has done excellent things; this is known in all the earth. Isa 12:6 Cry out and shout, O dweller of Zion; for great isthe Holy One of Israel in your midst. Yehovah is telling you that He will become our Salvation, our Yehshua. Yehovah is telling you that He did become Yehshua, H3444 (Strong) יְשׁוּעָה yeshû‛âh yesh-oo’-aw Feminine passive participle of H3467; something saved, that is, (abstractly) deliverance; hence aid, victory, prosperity: – deliverance, health, help (-ing), salvation, save, saving (health), welfare. God with us Immanuel. Mat 1:19 But Joseph, her husband, being a righteous man , and unwilling to expose her publicly, purposed to have put her away secretly; Mat 1:20 but while he pondered on these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, Joseph, son of David, fear not to take to thee Mary, thy wife, for that which is begotten in her is of the Holy Spirit. Mat 1:21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus, for *he* shall save his people from their sins. Mat 1:22 Now all this came to pass that that might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord, through the prophet, saying, Mat 1:23 Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which is, being interpreted, ‘God with us.’ Yehovah just told you in Isaiah 12:2 He would become your Yehshua. Matthew is telling you the Messiah is called God with us. Luke is saying the same thing only Luke says Yehshua. Isa 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. Birth of Jesus Foretold Luk 1:26 And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God into a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, Luk 1:27 to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. And the virgin’s name was Mary. Luk 1:28 And the angel came in to her and said, Hail, one receiving grace, the Lord is with you. Blessed areyou among women. Luk 1:29 And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and considered what kind of greeting this might be. Luk 1:30 And the angel said to her, Do not fear, Mary, for you have found favor with God. Luk 1:31 And behold! You shall conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call His name JESUS. The name Jesus here is: G2424 (Thayer) Ἰησοῦς Iēsous Thayer Definition: Jesus = “Jehovah is salvation” 1) Jesus, the Son of God, the Saviour of mankind, God incarnate We also read in the words of the Apostle John the following: Jhn 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Jhn 1:2 He was in the beginning with God. Jhn 1:3 All things came into being through Him, and without Him not even one thing came into being that has come into being. Jhn 1:14 And the Word became flesh, and tabernacled among us. And we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of theFather, full of grace and of truth. The Word, is the Torah. The Torah is Yehovah. Yehovah was the Word in the beginning and was God. Yehovah, God became flesh and dwelt amongst us. We also know this is true because of what we are told in Lev 16. Lev 16:7 And he shall take the two he-goats and present them before Jehovah at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. Lev 16:8 And Aaron shall cast lots on the two he-goats; one lot for Jehovah and the other lot for a complete removal. Lev 16:9 And Aaron shall bring the goat on which Jehovah’s lot fell, and offer it for a sin offering. The Goat that represented Yehovah is the Goat that is to be killed as our SIN OFFERING, Yehovah became Yehshua, salvation as Isaiah said. Yehovah the Word Dwelt amongst us. Yehovah was killed at Passover as both our Passover lamb and as the atonement Goat for our sin offering. I say all of this to reask the question now. Who are the antichrists? Those who deny the Messiah, Yehovah our Saviour. Those who deny the Word, the Torah that became flesh and dwelt amongst us. Who is that? Yehovah our Salvation-Yehshua. For that Day shall not come unless there first comes a falling away, and the man of sin shall be revealed, the son of perdition, 2Th 2:4 who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God, or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, setting himself forth, that he is God. 2Th 2:5 Do you not remember that I told you these things when I was still with you? 2Th 2:6 And now you know what holds back, for him to be revealed in his own time. 2Th 2:7 For the mystery of lawlessness is already working, only he is now holding back until it comes out of the midst. Paul is very specific about the man of sin sitting in the Temple of God. G3485 (Thayer) ναός naos Thayer Definition: 1) used of the temple at Jerusalem, but only of the sacred edifice 2) any heathen temple or shrine 3) metaphorically the spiritual temple consisting of the saints of all ages joined together by and in Christ The Temple Mount is not nor ever was the Temple, so that is ruled off the table from the get go. The actual Temple area consisted of the area above what is now the City of David. Specifically above the Shem stone or what is called Temple Zero found just above the Gihon spring and just below the platform where you enter Hezekiah’s tunnel. Understanding just how little time is left, from now until 2033, do I expect the Temple to be rebuilt? No. We have shown you that one of the key elements of the Temple was and is the Red Heifer altar. It is the same as the sin altar that is outside the city. This is where Abraham offered Isaac, and later, Solomon built his shrines to the god Molech and others. This is Golgotha, where the head tax was done. It is now called the Mount of Offence because of Solomon. This is the altar the Lamb of God was sacrificed beside. When I was there last year, in 2023, they built a new shrine to the Blessed Virgin Mary, but they had not installed her in the shrine before October 7. Dan 9:27 And he shall confirm a covenant with many forone week. And that which was decreed shall be poured on the desolator. The words of the altar are not there in Hebrew. They have been added. Dan 9:27 And he shall confirm H1396 the covenant H1285 with many H7227 for one H259 week: H7620 and in the midst H2677 of the week H7620 he shall cause the sacrifice H2077 and the oblation H4503 to cease, H7673 and for H5921 the overspreading H3671 of abominations H8251 he shall make it desolate, H8074 even until H5704 the consummation, H3617 and that determined H2782 shall be poured H5413 upon H5921 the desolate. H8076 The word overspreading is; H3671 (Strong) כָּנָף kânâph kaw-nawf’ From H3670; an edge or extremity; specifically (of a bird or army) a wing, (of a garment or bed clothing) a flap, (of the earth) a quarter, (of a building) a pinnacle: – + bird, border, corner, end, feather [-ed], X flying, + (one an-) other, overspreading, X quarters, skirt, X sort, uttermost part, wing ([-ed]). This is the same word as the corner of a tallit which has fringes and tzit tzit. Abominations is the word: H8251 (Strong) שִׁקֻּץ שִׁקּוּץ shiqqûts shiqqûts shik-koots’, shik-koots’ From H8262; disgusting, that is, filthy; especially idolatrous or (concretely) an idol: – abominable filth (idol, -ation), detestable (thing). He shall make desolate is the Hebrew word: H8074 (Strong) שָׁמֵם shâmêm shaw-mame’ A primitive root; to stun (or intransitively grow numb), that is, devastate or (figuratively) stupefy (both usually in a passive sense): – make amazed, be astonied, (be an) astonish (-ment), (be, bring into, unto, lay, lie, make) desolate (-ion, places), be destitute, destroy (self), (lay, lie, make) waste, wonder. Unitl the consumption: H3617 (Strong) כָּלָה kâlâh kaw-law’ From H3615; a completion; adverbially completely; also destruction: – altogether, (be, utterly) consume (-d), consummation (-ption), was determined, (full, utter) end, riddance. This is telling me that in the Holy Place near the Altar on Golgotha will be a disgusting idol, that will stun the people and be there until the end when the Messiah destroyed it. For me this is related to the events of Revelation 13 which is going to Shamem, stun the world. The Second Beast Rev 13:11 And I saw another beast coming up out of the earth. And it had two horns like a lamb, and he spoke like a dragon. Rev 13:12 And it exercises all the authority of the first beast before him, and causes the earth and those dwelling in it to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed. Rev 13:13 And it does great wonders, so that it makes fire come down from the heaven onto the earth in the sight of men. Rev 13:14 And it deceives those dwelling on the earth, because of the miracles which were given to it to do before the beast, saying to those dwelling on the earth that they should make an image to the beast who had the wound by a sword and lived. Rev 13:15 And there was given to it to give a spirit to the image of the beast, so that the image of the beast might both speak, and might cause as many as would not worship the image of the beast to be killed. Rev 13:16 And it causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark on their right hand, or in their foreheads, Rev 13:17 even that not any might buy or sell except those having the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of its name. Rev 13:18 Here is the wisdom. Let him having reason count the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man. And its number is six hundred and sixty-six. When the man of sin comes, there is already a place for him to sit on the Mount of Offence, where this Idol had a new shrine built last year. Golgotha is the Altar where Yehshua was killed. And this same place is going to be split in half when the Messiah does come. In the days of Uzziah, the southern part of the Mountain split and moved 1.5 km to the south. The Coming Day of the Lord Zec 14:1 Behold, the day of Jehovah comes, and your spoil shall be divided in your midst. Zec 14:2 For I will gather all nations to battle against Jerusalem; and the city shall be taken, and the houses plundered, and the women raped. And half of the city shall go into exile, and the rest of the people shall not be cut off from the city. Zec 14:3 And Jehovah shall go out and fight against those nations, like the day He fought in the day of battle. Zec 14:4 And His feet shall stand in that day on the Mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the Mount of Olives shall divide from its middle, from the east and to the west, a very great valley. And half of the mountain shall move toward the north, and half of it toward the south. Zec 14:5 And you shall flee to the valley of My mountains; for the valley of the mountains shall reach to Azal. And you shall flee as you fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah. And Jehovah my God shall come, and all the saints with you. - 82#59 Who is The ANTI-CHRIST? Who is Jesus Christ? | Part 1Who is the Antichrist? The Antichrist is a person who is against Christ. The prefix anti can also mean “instead of,” and both meanings will apply to this coming world leader. He will overtly oppose Christ and at the same time pass himself off as Christ. The Antichrist will aggressively live up to his terrible name. He will persecute, torture, and kill the people of God as he leads the armies of the world into the Battle of Armageddon. He will be the most powerful dictator the world has ever seen, making Caesar, Hitler, Mao, and Saddam seem tame by comparison. Even though the Antichrist is identified by that name only four times in the Bible, he appears many more times under various aliases. He is also called: “the promise that shall come” –Daniel 9:26 NKJV “a fierce king”—Daniel 8:23 NLT “a master of intrigue”—Daniel 8:23 NIV “a despicable man” –Daniel 11:21 NLT “a worthless shepherd”—Zechariah 11:16–17 NLT “the one who brings destruction” –2 Thessalonians 2:3 NLT “the lawless one” –2 Thessalonians 2:8 NKJV “the evil man” –2 Thessalonians 2:9 NLT “the Beast” –Revelation 13:1 NKJV When he comes on the scene, people will flock to him like flies to honey, and they will do anything he asks. How will he unite the nations? The prophet Daniel describes the Antichrist in these terms: “After this I saw in the night visions, and behold, a fourth beast … And there … were eyes like the eyes of a man, and a mouth speaking pompous words. … He shall speak pompous words against the Most High” (Daniel 7:7–8, 25). As Daniel says, the coming world leader will be renowned for this kind of eloquence, which will capture the attention and administration of the world. Daniel goes on to tell us that not only will this golden–tongued orator speak in high–blown terms, but he will also speak arrogantly against God. The apostle John describes him similarly in the book of Revelation: “And he was given a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies” (Revelation 13:5). Daniel continues his description of the Antichrist by telling us he is a man “whose appearance was greater than his fellows” (Daniel 7:20). In terms of his outward appearance, this man will be strikingly attractive. The combination of his magnetic personality, speaking ability, and extreme good looks will make him virtually irresistible to the masses. The apostle John expands on Daniel’s description of the Antichrist’s blasphemous acts by telling us that every living person will be required to worship this man. “He was granted power to give breath to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak and cause as man as would not worship the image of the beast to be killed” (Revelation 13:15). Finally, Revelation 13:1–8 describes the Antichrist as a Beast—an appropriate title for him. During the last 3½ years of the Tribulation, the Antichrist will personify Satan himself. Second Thessalonians 2:9 says, “The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders.” Step by step, the Antichrist will promote himself from a European leader, to a world leader, to a tyrannical global dictator, and finally to a god. What is the “unholy trinity”? Satan is the first person and the father of the unholy trinity. The Antichrist will be the second member and the son of the unholy trinity. The False Prophet, the third member of the unholy trinity, will direct the worship and praise of the people back to the Antichrist (Revelation 13:11–12). How does the Antichrist gain political power? His rise to power will be inconspicuous. It will not be noticed in the beginning and will hardly raise the attention even of the those who are closer to the center of action. He will rise out of the general population. John says, “Then I stood on the sand of the sea. And I saw a beast rising up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns” (Revelation 13:1). The sea in biblical imagery stands for the general mass of humanity or, more specifically, the Gentile nations. Whatever power the Antichrist has, he is allowed to have it by the overriding authority of Almighty God. As bad as the Tribulation will be, it will never be out of God’s control. There is a leash on Satan, and God is holding it. Satan will be able to do only that which God allows him to do during the Tribulation period. Who will worship the Antichrist? According to Revelation 13:8, “all who dwell on the earth will worship him.” Daniel 7:25 tells us that the Antichrist is a cultic leader. “He shall speak pompous words against the Most High … and shall intend to change times and law.” He will speak out against the true God of heaven. The language suggests that he will try to raise himself to the level of God and make declarations from that position. Second Thessalonians 2:4 says the Antichrist “opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.” He will accept the worship of the people of the world. What will happen to the Antichrist as he leads the Battle of Armageddon? During the Battle of Armageddon, the world will become increasingly discontented with the leadership of this global dictator who has gone back on every promise he made. Major segments of the world will begin to assemble their own military forces and rebel against him. The king of the South and his armies will be the first to come after the Antichrist, followed by the armies of the North. “At the time of the end the king of the South shall attack him: and the king of the North shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, horsemen, and with many ships” (Daniel 11:40). The Antichrist will put down some of the these first attempts at rebellion against him. But before he can move toward his goal of destroying Israel and Jerusalem, something happens: “But news from the east and the north shall trouble him; therefore he shall go out with great fury to destroy and annihilate many” (Daniel 11:44). The Bible leaves no doubt as to the source of the news that so disturbs enrages the Antichrist: “Then the sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up, so that the way of the kings from the east might be prepared” (Revelation 16:12). The Euphrates is one of the greatest rivers in the world. It flows from the mountains of western Turkey, through Syria, and continues through the heart of Iraq, not far from Baghdad. It eventually unites with the Tigris to become the Shatt el Arab, and finally empties into the Persian Gulf. The entirety of the Euphrates flows through Muslim territory. In Genesis 15 and Deuteronomy 11, the Lord specified that the Euphrates would be the easternmost border of the Promised Land. It serves both as a border and a barrier between Israel and her enemies. With the disappearance of the Euphrates, the Antichrist will be vulnerable to attack by the kings of the east. Their arrival will mark the beginning of the greatest war of all history. The Man of Lawlessness 2Th 2:1 Now we beseech you, my brothers, with regard to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, 2Th 2:2 that you should not be soon shaken in mind or troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word or letter, as through us, as if the Day of Christ is at hand. 2Th 2:3 Let not anyone deceive you by any means. - 83#58 Man Has Become Like One of Us? | Podcast With Sombra WilsonIf we are created naked and unashamed in the garden, then what has happened that Adam now feels the need to hide himself and cloth himself with fig leaves? The word that is translated as coverings in verse 7 is the Hebrew word חֲג ֹ ר ָ ה chăgôrâh a belt (for the waist): – apron, armour, gird (-le). It can be something we bind about ourselves to carry a weapon, so a garment of war, which gives us the image of armour. Why was this loincloth made from figs? Figs are a prolific green fruit that hide among the leaves making them difficult to see. Genesis 3:6-11 6 So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate. 7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings. And they heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden. 9 Then the LORD God called to Adam and said to him, “Where are you?” 10 So he said, “I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself.” 11 And He said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you that you should not eat?” Was this the same belt of truth we see in the Armour of God from Ephesians 6:14? Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, No, this chagorat was a garment to cover his shame! Adam was now feeling shame not righteousness! Their eyes had been opened to good and evil. What God had created as very good was now corrupted with good AND evil. Clearly Adam was trying to hide himself and his wife. These pictures all point to the hiding. Verse 10 said they were hiding from Yehovah for they were afraid. The word Chaba means hide, and it is a chet, a fence, and a bet the house or the tent, at it’s root. Adam and Eve were putting up a wall between themselves and Yehovah by putting on these Chagorot. They were attempting to save themselves within this refuge of the loin cloth. Genesis 3:22 Then the LORD God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of Us, to know good and evil. How does this sentence read in Luo? Is it the same as how my English reads? If I take the Hebrew words and translate them literally it says man has become united with the intimacy of good and evil. True Yehovah knows all things – and that includes Good and Evil – but to translate this to say that our eyes open to evil as well as good makes us more like Yehovah is a bit misleading – it suggests that this action is better than how they were created on the 6th day – when Yehovah said they were made very good. - 86#55 Where Did Hanukkah Come From? | Festival of LightsWas Hanukkah commanded by God to observe it? Or is it simply a tradition that has been passed down for centuries. I want to do a deep dive into some of the history of Hanukkah since we are in the season. Hopefully to shed some light on something that some of us may be observing. I think when talking about traditions and holidays it’s critical to understand the roots of it the best we can and make informed decisions on wether or not this is something that we should be observing. I’ll be the first one to say that Hanukkah is not something that I have observed growing up, nor do I observe it. So, I want to tread lightly since I know this could be a sensitive topic for some. But regardless, there is an objective truth here, independent of our feelings toward it. I am quoting some reputable sources during the course of this episode; Encyclopedia Britannica, Dr. Nehemiah Gordon and Dr. Shrel-Fox. Both of these men being Biblical and historical scholars. I want to keep the discussion as objective as possible but I do insert some of my opinions into this as well. But I want you to understand that there are places where I make a distinction about what’s my opinion and what’s historically factual. It is our mission here at sightedmoon.com to give you the best and more historically accurate information so that you can make decisions that are primarily Bible based when it comes to keeping or observing certain Holy Days or holidays. The Maccabean revolt, which was led by Judas Maccabeus around 161-164 BC were the first among the Jewish people to fight to defend their faith with their lives. The Second Temple was rededicated in 164 BC after the revolt. The Temple was purified and dedicated on Kislev 25, Judas was said to have proclaimed that the dedication of the restored temple should be celebrated for eight days every year beginning on Kislev 25. But is that true, or is that tradition? Rev 17:5 And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. Rev 17:8 The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is. When you look into history you can see the form of the mark of the beast religion almost in full form. How it morphs from Babylon and stretches all the way to our current day and we don’t even realize it. The book of Revelation has been unfolding since 600AD and people don’t even think about it. The seals of God begun being opened hundreds of years ago and we are about to see the 7th seal open very shortly. This is continuation episode exploring the Babylonian roots of Christmas as well as glossing over some of the other popular holidays on our calendar. But to explain where Christmas came from we must first deep dive into the gods that were worshiped by Babylon and by those that preceded them. Why? Because all of the rites that were blended into Christmas came from these ancient Phoenician gods. Isis, Horus, Tammuz, Ba’al and Nimrod are all ancient links to what we know today as Christmas. When the truth is, that it has nothing to do with Christ at all. Even the so called birth date of Christ (December 25th) is false and also shares the same birthday as the pagan gods previously mentioned. - 88#53 Clean and Unclean and The Garden of Eden | With Sombra WilsonI am still reletively new to the concept of clean vs. unclean and the reasons on why it’s crucial to our spiritual and physical well being to eat as God commanded. Sombra and I are having a discussion today about how even in the Garden of Eden there was a concept of clean, unclean and what you should and shouldn’t do. In other words, Law. God even had established the premise of obedience from the very beginning. he didn’t wait until Moses to start talking to people and giving His people expectations of proper living. Everyone attributes the Levitical laws to Moses because God spoke to him more details than any other person before him. But this isn’t Moses’ thing, it’s God’s thing. His expectation for us is still relevant for today just as it was for the children of Israel back then. God’s Word never changes, for He is the same today, yesterday, and forever. Mal 3:6 —For I am the YEHOVAH, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed. So, if you think that you are just fine by eating or consuming whatever you want; you need to hear this one as Paul never sanctioned the eating of anything unclean. But let’s go back and read Leviticus and listen to what God says about it since all scripture was breathed and inspired by YEHOVAH. 2 Tim 3:16 — All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: NOTE: the only book considered scripture during the day Paul was writing his epistles was the Old Testament. Paul would not have referred to his own writings as scripture. If the above scripture is true them the whole book is inspired by God! Not just the later half of it. None of it passed away because God’s Word never comes back void. Isaiah 55:11 —So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. - 89#52 How We Ended Up Worshiping With The Pagans? | Are we really honoring Jesus Celebrating Christmas?The topic of today’s discussion is how Christmas is not at all related to Christ. You might be surprised by this, or you might even be aware of it, but you still might be on the fence whether you should do anything about it or not. That’s what I aim to do with this podcast series, is to give you the information you need to see how much Christmas really honors a pagan sun god and how all of it’s rituals were rolled into a “Christian” holiday. Much of my material is take from the book the Two Babylons by Alexander Hislop and Encyclopedia Britanica. Central Thesis: Hislop argues that many Roman Catholic practices originated from ancient Babylonian paganism and were later adopted into Christianity. Historical Claim: The book links the worship of Semiramis and Nimrod in Babylon to later forms of idolatry in various cultures. Mary and Semiramis: Suggests the veneration of the Virgin Mary parallels the pagan worship of mother-goddess figures like Semiramis or Ishtar. Sacraments and Rituals: Claims Catholic rituals such as the Mass, use of the cross, holy water, and confessional have roots in ancient pagan rites. Papal Authority: Hislop asserts that the Pope fulfills a role similar to the “Pontifex Maximus,” a title from pagan Rome. Symbolism: The book connects symbols like the cross, the obelisk, and certain festivals (e.g., Easter, Christmas) to pre-Christian pagan traditions. Prophetic Interpretation: Hislop interprets Babylon in the Book of Revelation as symbolic of the Roman Catholic Church. Purpose: The work is polemical, seeking to warn Protestants about perceived syncretism and to call for separation from Catholic practices. This summary reflects the core arguments Hislop presents, though his conclusions are widely debated by historians and theologians. Biblical Warning Against Idolatry: The Ten Commandments forbid worshiping carved images or symbols (Exodus 20:4–5), which some interpret as including religious symbols like the cross. Focus Shift from God to Object: Critics argue that venerating or kissing the cross can shift devotion from God to a physical object. Pagan Origins: Hislop and similar authors claim that the cross predates Christianity as a pagan fertility or sun symbol, making its use a form of syncretism. - 90#51 New Beginnings with Sombra WilsonGenesis 1 When God created the heavens and the earth and the earth was without form and void. In Hebrew we call it “tohu” and “boho”. “thou” means to be desolate, wilderness, and “boho” means empty and void. So God created this beautiful garden but he couldn’t just create something like this and then leave it to itself. He needed to place something there to maintain it, thus man was created to continue to perpetuate order and beauty to this garden that was created by God. He gave man mastery and dominion over creation, over the animals, to maintain this God given order. Man took what God gave to him for granted and disobeyed (sinned) against God and His instruction and was exiled from the garden of Eden and made to now till the ground. What man had before was order and a gift, but now he must work to establish that order because there will be thrones and thistles in the land. This also included the animals and everything man had dominion over. So, everything fell when Adam sinned, Because Adam was not just over his wife, he had dominion over all of creation. Even the animals became corrupt as a result of man’s transgression. Some people might see this as unfair, but in light of the grand scheme it’s quite fair. If a king falls, the entire kingdom and everything that king ruled over also falls. That is the order by which things have always operated since the fall of man. God didn’t design it to be that way, but man’s rebellion forced God’s hand in this, since He is supremely just. It’s a very interesting conversation and I hope you all enjoy it! - 93#048-Christianity Invented Halloween!?Would you be shocked and appalled if I told you that Halloween was invented by Christianity? Halloween is the 3rd most popular holiday in America according to ChatGPT. 15% considering it their favorite Holiday. Halloween is believed to have stemmed from Celtic origin. The day was called Samhain pronounced Saw-ween. When Rome conquered the Celtic nation in 79 CE, they began to mix this custom with their own dead worshiping holiday. In short, Halloween is a mixture of many foreign religions brought under the single umbrella of Christianity by the Roman Catholic Church or known in early Christianity as the “Universal Church”. Why was it originally called the “Universal Church” because from its inception Rome envisioned a single Religion or Church that would house all of their pagan deities. Since Christianity was becoming such a sensation all throughout Rome and Asia, what better religion to use than the Christians, since there were so many. By 380 AD Christianity becomes the national religion of Rome, only a facade to merge all of the Roman pagan deities both from Rome itself and the lands which they conquered into a single religion. At the end of the day, you have to ask yourself, does celebrating the dead on Halloween honor my creator? Does my participation on Halloween pay homage to Yehovah my God? Is there any scriptural basis for celebrating the dead? I hope your answer would be, of course not! Then why do we look at holidays like Halloween and think to ourselves “It’s just harmless fun”? This is exactly what Yehovah warned us about in Deuteronomy which is an Old Testament book and another reason why seemingly well meaning Christians today do not know these things. Because the Old Testament has “passed away” according to mainstream Christianity. Let’s look at what God has to say about this; Deuteronomy 12:29-31 29 “When the Lord thy God shall cut off the nations from before thee whither thou goest to possess them, and thou succeedest them and dwellest in their land, 30 take heed to thyself that thou be not snared by following them, after they are destroyed from before thee, and that thou inquire not after their gods, saying, ‘How did these nations serve their gods? Even so will I do likewise.’ 31 Thou shalt not do so unto the Lord thy God, for every abomination to the Lord which He hateth have they done unto their gods; for even their sons and their daughters they have burned in the fire to their gods. But Pagan Rome became so anti-semitic that they wanted nothing to do with the God of the Hebrews because they had a new shiny tribune God called Jesus Christ along with the Virgin Mary. They polluted the name of Jesus by merging him with all the other pagan gods and their rituals which we today see as common place. This is exactly what Yehovah warned us about in Deuteronomy; Deuteronomy 11:16 Take heed to yourselves, that your heart be not deceived, and ye turn aside and serve other gods and worship them; The Jesus that is worshiped in Christianity today is largely a false Christ. Yehovah said it in Isaiah; Isaiah 43:10-11 10 “Ye are My witnesses,” saith the Lord, “and My servant whom I have chosen, that ye may know and believe Me, and understand that I am He. Before Me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after Me. 11 I, even I, am the Lord, and besides Me there is no savior. The thing you have to ask yourself is simply, does this honor Yehovah God? Not only Halloween, but none of the man-made holidays on our calendar pays any homage to our Father in Heaven nor to Jesus Christ. So what are we doing celebrating these pagan deities and doing what the other nations do? Let’s get back to the Bible! The only days we should be recognizing as legit holidays are the ones that Yehovah has set out for us as His Holy Days. He made it all very simple for us, just follow the scriptures. Jesus said it in Luke; Luke 6:46-48 46 “And why call ye Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not the things which I say? 47 Whosoever cometh to Me, and heareth My sayings and doeth them, I will show you to whom he is like: 48 He is like a man who built a house and dug deep and laid the foundation on a rock; and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house and could not shake it, for it was founded upon a rock. She also quotes Isaiah 11:10 and she describes that the Kenyan people understand Pathros to mean Kenya since Kenya is at the end of the Nile. What a blessing that Sombra has been able to do this great work for Yehovah in teaching the Sabbatical and Jubilee years. - 96#045-The Yoreh Rains Already Came? | Israel is Late on Keeping Sukkot!The Yoreh Rains are the autumn rains of the year in Israel. These rains signify that the feast day calendar of the year has come to an end. While Israel and some other groups are celebrating Sukkot (The Feast of Tabernacles) this week, the rain has already come and gone! On Sept 25th, not only was it raining, but it also flooded parts of Israel with a record-breaking 5 inches of rain, marking the first occurrence in 93 years! This is Yehovah telling Israel that they are late in celebrating Sukkot. Why pray for rain, Schmini Azaret (8th Day Feast), if the rain has already happened? It’s a moot point to pray for rain while it’s raining. They are keeping Sukkot this week, and it’s literally forecast to rain in October. 12th. So, Yehovah is not only proving it to us once but twice that the Hillel calendar is a month late on the feast days. The Feast Days of Yehovah are dictated by scripture, by the wheat/barley being ripe for the harvest and the sighting of the crescent moon. While we were celebrating Sukkot in September, we didn’t see a single drop of rain. It was sunny the ENTIRE time. So, rain is the clue; if you see rain during Sukkot, then you’ve done something wrong. You have swerved off the path a few degrees. Let’s get back to the scriptures and start understanding when to celebrate the Holy Days of Yehovah at His appointed times.
