The Broken Walls of Jerusalem and America 0:01 Hello. My name is Mike Faylauer. I'm the pastor of New Life Church here in Corpus Christi, Texas. And it's my privilege to take a few moments and share, during this, time,0:13 this 52 days of the Nehemiah alliance and prayer, focusing on what god needs to do and wants to do in our nation.0:25 52 days, that's how long it took for Nehemiah and the children of Israel to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem. In Nehemiah chapter 1, it all started when Nehemiah0:37 heard about, the state of the walls of Jerusalem. And it says in verse 3, and they said to him, the survivors who had left from captivity0:49 and that in the province are there and they're in great distress and reproach, the wall of Jerusalem is also broken down and its gates were burned with fire.1:02 And the condition of the wall being broken and being burned and charred wasn't just about the the wall that defended and protected Jerusalem.1:14 That wall represented more than just defense or protection. The wall of Jerusalem represented her dignity. It represented her purpose, her calling. It represented god's hand and1:26 god's favor and god's activity in their lives. So that's why Nehemiah began to weep and that's why it touched him and impacted him so deeply and so greatly because1:38 he knew it represented more than just defense against enemies. He knew it represented much more than that. That's why I love the name of this, this season, this emphasis,1:50 the Nehemiah alliance, the opportunity to recognize and in a very real way, America also has found her walls broken down and
2:02 burned in charred. And it's more than just the walls of defense that represents the, activity in the hand of god on our nation. And his hand is on our nation
2:14 but what we want to see and need to see desperately is we need to see the activity of the divine, the activity of god, the activity of heaven, and a greater measure
2:26 in our nation. Just as we experienced at the beginning of our nation. You know, America is the only, nation on the planet that as she was
2:38 being formed and shaped and identified and defined was shaped by 2 great awakenings. There's not another nation on the planet that as she was
2:50 becoming who she is, was actually, in that process being defined by both great awakenings. The 1st great awakening in the mid 17 hundreds and
3:02 the 2nd great awakening starting more specifically in 18 o 1 in Cambridge. And it was during those times, the 1st great awakening was really, in very large part, what
America's Need for Another Great Awakening
3:14 motivated and moved America to break, break off from, from Britain and and began to form, ourselves as our own nation. And then, of course, as we're
3:26 figuring that out and young as a nation and and and discovering what are the values that we're going to live by? What are the underlying values that will be the
3:37 foundation and the fabric of this nation? And those values were discovered through the preaching of the gospel, through the 1st and 2nd great awakening. And we need that again. We need another
3:49 awakening in our nation. And I believe just this emphasis, just this season of time that we're that's being set aside to pray and to fast collectively together, all of us all over the
4:01 nation, to be praying and pulling together in the same direction just as Israel was pulling together in the same direction as they were rebuilding the wall. We're rebuilding a spiritual wall
Prayer for National and Kingdom Awakening
4:12 here, and what a beautiful opportunity it is. And so I'm excited about being a part of that and adding our faith and our prayers with you and with so many others,
4:24 throughout the nation. Not only for America, but also for the kingdom. And so, lord, we just thank you right now for what you're doing. We thank you for another visitation.
4:36 We thank you for another move, another awakening that will take place in our nation, that will, wake also result in an awakening in the lives of men
4:48 and women. Not only to, the greatness of this nation and your part in it, but also an awakening even more so to your kingdom and to Jesus as the ultimate king. And we pray this
