  1. 2651428 Love is More than a FeelingWhen you think about it, what does love mean to you? And remember, love is more than a feeling. Definitions of words can be easy to ramble off. But you can stop anyone in their tracks when you ask what love means. Desire to be supported and encourage by other like-minded women? Join us at Women of IMPACT. http://bit.ly/WomenofIMPACT At first they say something like, "You can't put love into words. You just know." Yet why are break-ups and divorce rates SO high? So what do you know? Why did you fall in love with your sweetheart? There are moments I question that myself. But usually it's in response to me being upset about something, and I find myself shaking my head. Understand this is normal. I want you to look at the big picture. What does love mean to you? You might chime in with it's an attraction at first. It's that unexplainable nervous-like feeling you got when you first saw your sweetheart. However, love is more than a feeling. If we acted only on feelings, we would be messed up. Feelings are misleading. You can go from being upset, to being totally rolling on the floor with laughter in minutes. Feelings are a reaction. What love needs is a thoughtful response! The K.I.S.S. ~ Respond not react! Think back to a situation where you reacted quickly without much thought. You see, feelings encourage a reaction. It's the knee jerk reaction (patella reflex). It happens before you give it thought. It's automatic. A response, though, is careful and thorough consideration. Time is place between the situation and your follow-up. This allows you to be more thoughtful as to your approach. A little less fight and a little more consideration. Respond not react. Give thoughtful consideration to the situation/circumstance. Look at the situation from all perspectives. Respond with the heart-mind connection. Love is more than a feeling. Love is an action. CHALLENGE: How are your loving in your marriage? Where can you love with more responses not reactions? The pictures of what you hold true in your heart. The silver bells that ring loudly in your heart. The lights that brighten your dark days. Join us at Women of IMPACT. http://bit.ly/WomenofIMPACT Decorating the tree can be a lot of fun or a lot of work; sometimes a combination. Getting out all the decorations and ornaments. Since our recent move, this is our first Christmas in our home. The area where the decorations are stored were not organized on purpose. I knew I would have to take everything out when I decorated the house. So why take up more time trying to get it all perfect when moving in? With that being said, I began to organize where I wanted what trees and how I wanted each tree decorated. We finally got to the tree that was the first tree we purchased as a couple. This is the tree that holds all the children's homemade ornaments, Hallmark ornaments, and special ornaments. I must say, this tree was the most fun to put up because I traveled down memory lane; looking at the names, reading the writings, seeing all what the children had made. With each ornament was a story, a memory, a time in our life captured for a brief moment. The K.I.S.S. ~ Portraits of belief! One ornament after another, the real reason for this beautiful season was expressed in color, texture, scripture, shapes, and sounds. The nostalgia tree coming to life revealing the portraits of belief. What would your life look like going back in time, seeing the pictures and memories? God has a way of showing us what is important to us when we go back in time. REFLECTION: What would your portraits of belief reveal in your heart? God desires your heart to be a portrait of His heart. Whether you're celebrating the holidays or living your day to day life, there will always be times of self doubt. But is there value in self doubt? Seems a little backwards. Something positive from something negative. Something that focuses on the good of something that's not working. Desire to be supported and encourage by other like-minded women? Imagine for a moment what the shepherds thought when the angels visited them in the deep, dark night. Surely they questioned their sanity and even the journey ahead. Is this for real? And what about the wise men? In a distant city, news came to them of a baby born, the Savior of the world. I'm sure they questioned if it was really true. Then we cannot forget Mary. She carried the Christ child to term. It wasn't just days she lived with this; it was months upon months. A Season of HOPE. A Season of DOUBT. A Season of FAITH. Value can be found in self doubt when the focus is not the doubt. It's the journey God has bestowed upon you. You can find value in self doubt when you find the reason in your season. The K.I.S.S. ~ Find the reason in your season. ASK! Getting yourself caught up in the negative will only develop more negativity. Instead search for the truth God is unveiling. Find the reason in your season. Ask God for help. You are not alone. Doubt can drive you closer to God. And yes, unfortunately it takes doubt to get us to our knees and ask for God's help. Seek the truth. Doubt comes when the focus is on what you don't know. And what you don't know, you become fearful of stirring up more questions than answers. Knock on the door of faith. When life hangs in the balance, we want to run and hide; go for what's comfortable. "God accomplishes His purpose in spite of your doubts. Find your reason this season.   5. 2691432 How to Avoid the Holiday BulgeThe holidays are filled with joy, building memories, and LOTS of food. Who wants the extra bloat or bulge? So enjoy the holidays even more by discovering how to avoid the holiday bulge. Now the quick answer is to stay on track. But let's be realistic. Who really wants to say NO to yummy food that's only around during the holidays? Desire to be supported and encourage by other like-minded women? However, when you want to maintain your healthy streak, how do you find the balance between enjoyment and indulgment? The K.I.S.S. ~ Make a plan and take AIM! Making a plan will help you prepare how you want to handle the yummy temptations throughout your holiday celebrations. Here are a few ideas to get you thinking. And remember, you do what works for YOU! There's no right or wrong; only what works for you and your goals. Make sure to include intentional movement in your day, even on the day of your gatherings. Eat prior going to a party and allow only Stick to the 3 to 5 bite rule. Enjoy the taste not the size! Stay hydrated. Remember the holi-"DAY"! It's a day, not a season. Don't graze yourself through the days. Keep the fellowship away from the food line. We all hang out in the kitchen. Take the conversation somewhere else. Get some great sleep. Do not beat yourself up. The holiday bulge doesn't have to be a result of your celebrations. After you have decided and committed to your health, make a plan and take AIM! "Be present. Be incredible. Dreaming about what I should be doing. Driving myself crazy for second guessing myself. Wondering... Where are You, Christmas? With the hustle and bustle, this busy time of year, I can't help but ponder how we live the Christmas lifestyle of R.U.S.H.- Running uncontrolled shadowing hustle. Now that hustle as a verb is to force (someone) to move hurriedly or unceremoniously in a specified direction; obtain by forceful action or persuasion. What happened to the reason for the season; where your heart skips a beat and your eyes are brighter than the stars? If we stop long enough to smell the crisp, cool air, maybe we will begin to unlock the magic and wonderment of the gift. Not just the perfect present. The most popular gift-on-demand. The heart of gold gift that's eternal. The K.I.S.S. ~ Where are You, Christmas? As I drove up to the house after returning from an extended excursion to move my daughter once again, visit with my son, and meet-up on the road with my daughter's boyfriend, I couldn't help but see the beauty in the decorations I labored over for days. The lights reflective throughout the house. A reminder of God's unconditional love. The trees tall and sturdy. A reminder of God's steadfast grace. The ornaments adorning the branches. A reminder of God's overreaching forgiveness. The reason for the season hasn't changed. But maybe your heart has. It's easy to get caught up in the bows and the paper, the gifts under the tree, the food on the table, the decorations. What needs to be captivated is your heart! Stop for a moment. Hit the pause button. No more rushing to get it all done. Embrace the value of what this season is showing you. Open your heart to the benefits of this glorious season. But the process in how you strive for results is the key. When you constantly attack what you want, you are missing out on who you are becoming. The focus is simply the outcome of your desires, not the lessons learned through the journey. Sometimes, you can fall into what you want. But at what price? Most of what we want comes from sacrifice. And that sacrifice usually involves giving up something of ourselves. You can't be less than who you are. Nothing comes from nothing. So if you are wanting more than what you have, you need to look from the inside out. Who are you becoming? A woman with a driven spirit desiring to impact the world she touches. What do you remember about Christmas growing up? And of all those memories, which one do you like the most? Take that memory and encapsulate the emotions of love you felt. We started talking Christmas and plans; how her day was going. To her surprise, I was genuinely interested in her. Seeing the smile on her face was energizing to her and me! A postcard from the heart! I could have been that grouchy customer that kept to herself, trying to rush through the line without making eye contact. But what good would it have served? Maybe I would have saved 2 minutes. However, her sharing plans of Christmas shopping still left to do and the movie "The Grinch that Stole Christmas"... You had to be there in the conversation. We giggled about those grinches that show up in her line. I told her there's no room in this line for grinches. What fun we had if just for a moment! The stress of frustrated shoppers melted away. I told her thank you for her smile! A postcard from the heart! So much of our minutes are consumed by reacting to what everyone around us is doing. Make today brighter than the person standing next to you. If there's gray skies, let the sun shine with your words. If there is unexpected chaos, look for the unexpected blessings. If you spend too much time thinking about the future, the present will slip through your fingers. God wants you to see all of His goodness. He wants you to experience the joy He has for you. Parenting is the toughest job you will ever do. It was the ninth hour to finishing the gifts for the teachers, the bus driver, the postman, the repair man, the neighbors, the pool guy, and the classmates. Nothing says Christmas than homemade candy. Bring on the peanut clusters; as they are my signature yummies for the season. You know how a deadline keeps you on task. Well, deadlines also keep you up very late into the wee of the morning. In those moments, you question your sanity in saying "yes" to volunteering. But oh how your hard work pays off. My son surprised his teachers yesterday with gifts from the heart, specifically chosen for each of them. And he also couldn't leave out the bus driver. He was so excited to give them the gifts. And though I wished I could see all their reactions, I did get to experience it with the bus driver. She was so excited; the bus was put in park and hugs all around! What you do every day matters! Consider it a gift. When you get after your child, consider it a gift. When you take a privilege away, consider it a gift. When you discipline accordingly, consider it a gift. Everything you do is a gift. (James 1:2-12 MSG) Now your family may not always agree with you. But you must consider all that you do a gift. This season is the beginning of new opportunities, new ways to share your gifts. The K.I.S.S. ~ Share your gifts! Nothing is more beautiful than taking what is given to you and sharing it with the world. Yes, it starts with your family; loving them where they're at. Consider it a gift. As your days draw closer to the most wonderful time of the year, know that all you do is a gift. Consider it a gift. Your words. Your actions. Your talents. Your strengths. Your weaknesses. You see, in the country, darkness has a different meaning. It's the deep dark. As another night became the first winter night, I stood outside. The wind howled and the crisp air chilled my nose down to my toes. Nothing like an island girl in flip flops on a cold night. I looked up into the night's sky, only to see more black. But as I rotated and shifted my position, there it was. A single star shining so bright, it lit up the deepest of the night. That's what you do; the light of Christmas. The K.I.S.S. ~ Let your light shine! You don't have to know everything. You don't have to be perfect. You have to be YOU!!! God teaches us so much about relationships and love. And it's not a dream. I'm dreaming of a white Christmas. Just like the ones I used to know. But it's not the snow either that makes Christmas so special. What should be real becomes a dream. And what is a dream, becomes lost hope. Reality becomes distorted. When something good happens, people comment... "You're living the dream." But what does that really mean? God designed for each of us to know Him personally. Through the life, death, and resurrection of His son, God's dream for you is alive!   17. 2811444 An Upside Down ChristmasIt's beginning to look like an upside down Christmas. Not only a topsy turvy day, but a feeling that flows throughout the year. Living in an upside down world might be trendy and rad, and create a memorable experience (for only a chaotic minute). But Christmas trees weren't designed to hang from the ceiling or be suspended upside down. Or were they? Desire to be supported and encourage by other like-minded women? Did you know that last year, there was even a tree, an upside down tree, sold at Target for close to $1000. Now I'm all for beautiful trees, but is setting the trend really worth the cost? You better believe it!! God set the trend before we even knew there was a trend. The creator of the universe decided to send a part of Him, His son to the world that He created to connect to our physical world. An upside down Christmas! God wanted to know us from all aspects of our lives, the world He created and as His creation. So what better way than an upside down Christmas. The K.I.S.S. ~ An upside down Christmas! And truly that is exactly as God sees it. Him sending His only Son, Jesus Christ, to the earth. The star upon the tree really came down first to you and me. So why shouldn't we have an upside down Christmas? The star pointing at you! The greatest gift He gave Himself.... YOU!!! But unfortunately, we tend to live our own trends and set our own rules wishing for something more in life. What if you followed the trend set by your Heavenly Father? What if you did Christmas the way He sees it? Now that doesn't mean you have to go out and purchase a $1000 tree that hangs from the ceiling. That might be a little much, even for God. However, what if you take your heart and turn it upside down See life through the eyes of the Babe wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger. The wonderment of what He saw daily in His creation. The hope He knows exists amongst the chaos. Then you would know the joy, the love, and the hope God wants you to have every day of your life. Now, it won't look the way you think it should. You won't always get what you want. But the trade off for always searching for perfection will gain you freedom in living the heavenly designed life here on earth until God calls you home. An upside down Christmas. Joy everlasting. We're always looking for light in all the dark places! Today, marks a day of celebration. Love came down. But it's not what is happening now under the tree. It's what God gifted the world thousands of years ago. Hope is born! Luke 2:1-14 In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. (This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.) And everyone went to his own town to register. So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks by night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all people. Today in the town of David, a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger." Suddenly a great company of heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace goodwill to men." God sent His light to your fallen world. This bright light which is freely given to you. Don't underestimate the gift of this child. Immanuel, God with us. Hope is born! But where do you place your hope? Or have you given up, just going through the motions? Hope is born! A babe wrapped in swaddling cloths lying in a manger amongst His creation. It's Jesus Christ! This bright light gifted to us by God, the creator of the universe. Love came down. Joy to the world! Hope is born! The K.I.S.S. ~ Hope is born! So where are you going to find true meaning and purpose for your life? In your earthly addictions, attractions, and actions? Whom are you going to offer up your heart to find inspiration and hope? You find it in the ONE who is the true light that gives light to everyone! (John 1:9) Hope is born! Just as love came down all from humble beginnings, you experience God's light in your darkness. Joy to the world! Hope is born! Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace goodwill to men! ~ Luke 2:14 From my family to yours... You can't forget how to make the best of Christmas leftovers. All that food; some you love and other stuff you wish never entered the refrigerator.   20. 2841447 The Last Shall Be FirstNow that Christmas has come and gone, what deadline are you rushing to next? Remember, the last shall be first. Because in all seriousness, is rushing getting you where you want to go? For most of what we want, NO!!! Desire to be supported and encourage by other like-minded women? We think that if we can take the lead and have convenience work on our side, then all will fall into place. Or will it? Convenience is not sacrifice. And sacrifice is what God desires from us to change up the game of mundane living. He wants you to BE alive! Be present. Be incredible. Be YOU!!! If you want to walk by faith, it requires sacrifice, not convenience, nor habits or dates. The last shall be first. Where does rushing really get you? Not very far, especially the driver who cut me off, followed by two other drivers, only to get stuck at the same stoplight and me and the other drivers. What if he would have been a little more patient and watchful, not rushed and a bully. We always seem to be running on towards deadlines. Even Miss Courtney at our local Walmart shared with me as she was ringing up my groceries. "Christmas is a deadline. You just have to get it all done by a certain day." Is that how you are living your life? Deadlines? Your deadlines. Your schedule. I don't know if you remember back when the A.I.M. Academy was being announced. And yes, MY deadline was to have it launch in November. But then a few things happened that needed my attention. So I put off the launch of the A.I.M. Academy. And that was really hard for me. However, what made it easy was how God was preparing the better route. Now, I must tell you. It is up and coming. And I can't wait to make the announcement here. So please stay tuned. It is SUPER EXCITING what is coming your way. As a little sidebar, maybe you've wanted to make some changes, but finances got in the way or a multitude of other excuses. I completely understand. Coaching is an investment and expensive. I know, because I too invest in coaching. The A.I.M. Academy is going to give you some incredible options; life-changing options. The last shall be first. Remember that last is from God's perspective, not yours. Your perspective might feel like it will never happen. But to God, it's a Heavenly blink! Maybe it's the fighting and arguing for who gets to play the new game first. Or panicking for what is lost in the paper pile; where's the money? So why is it that we keep putting ourselves through the chaos to celebrate more pain than happiness? The expectations of what is supposed to be for the holidays rules the celebration. Unfair both to you and the family. No one wants screaming children because they didn't get what they wanted. No one wants those stares that make you feel like a worthless parent. We even experienced this. Now there wasn't any screaming or temper tantrums. But there was a very concerned look as one son opened a gift that the other son so desperately wanted. And the cool thing from our perspective, his gift was just wrapped in a different size box, but it was exactly what he wanted. To say the least, Daddy and I got a great inside chuckle watching him stew and not saying anything because he didn't want to be "that" child. Wanting something someone else has seems to run deep in the human race. But it's how you deal with it that makes it more tolerable during the holidays. So how do you get beyond the bows and wrapping paper? The K.I.S.S. ~ Make it personal! We are quick to say something like, "John wanted this, but you got this." Unfortunately, phrases similar to this only adds fuel to the fire. You are putting one over the other. So make it personal to the one of concern, whether it's your oldest, the youngest, or even your husband. Make it personal. Point out the benefits. Don't compare one to another. Celebrate the uniqueness. Remember, you set the tone for perception. Don't come out on the defensive side. If you are going to play defense, so are they going to defend their position. You want to play offense. Let them know you are on their side. "Don't make the bows and wrapping paper become the highlight. Loving when it's easy; and more importantly, loving when you don't want to. Now this idea of winning, getting your way, always being right, is something that comes easy for all of us. Call it human nature. Who doesn't want to win? Who doesn't want to be right? I know I do. In watching the bowl games, you can see it written on the coaches' faces. WIN!! Let's do it my way! We want everything to work out as we planned it. But there's no way you can control everyone's actions and attitude. You are bound to run in to traffic of disagreements and of confrontations. Plus, at the end of the day, it only gets worse. Frustration builds and patience lessens. Winning isn't everything, loving is! The K.I.S.S. ~ Do everything in love!   23. 2871450 Let Your Faith Be Bigger Than Your FearsThe countdown has begun to a New Year, a new you! However, you don't have to wait for the ball to drop. Let your faith be bigger than your fears. As you look back over this past year, what do you wish you had accomplished? Desire to be supported and encourage by other like-minded women? Even if you had the best year ever, you still would wish something was different. a better job more clients less bills a growing family a new house a certification more books read more time to yourself less complaining a new car So if you took a few minutes to ponder, what kept you from going for what you wished was different? Most of what didn't happen can be found wrapped and driven by FEAR! fear of rejection, fear of missing out, fear of conflict, fear of change, fear of success, fear of failure, fear of not being good enough, fear of not be loved. FEAR! FEAR!! FEAR!!! Fear is real and something we need to protect ourselves from danger and evil. However, operating our lives out of fear is not what God had intended. Yet we do it and I did it. I thought I was fulfilling my faith requirements: being a devoted wife, raising my children even homeschooling them, working within the church, tithing, giving of my time and talents, volunteering in the community. Actually, I was doing it out of fear --- fear of judgment. I thought I was doing everything right. But it took a storm to shut me down. "These are not the plans I have for you," whispered God. And I even do it now. Second-guessing what God is unveiling. Running closer to what I know than trusting what God knows. Living a life in faith is being God-centered. The K.I.S.S. ~ Let your faith be bigger than your fears! "Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see." ~ Hebrews 11:1 And yes, my life was God-centered, but on my terms. We can't place conditions on God. Are you placing conditions on God? Are you praying and asking for something (miracle, health, finances, healing, marriage, etc.), but it has to be wrapped a certain way? God's got you right where you're at. What He asks of you is not to worry about tomorrow today. (Matthew 6:34) God will give you what you need when you walk by faith. "You are the CEO of your heart!" You have a choice. You can live your life making decisions and focusing on your ideals out of earthly fears. Or you can choose to surrender to God's heavenly designed plan for you and walk by faith. This new year, which do you choose? Faith or Fear? "Let your faith be bigger than your fears!
