The Sons of Issachar: Prophetic Wisdom and Unity 0:00 This entire book is the story of the majority getting it wrong and God finding a holy remnant who he can partner with to change history.0:24 First Chronicles chapter 12 brings forth a very amazing moment in Israel's history. And I think it's a moment that0:35 is similar to the moment that we're in today. Saul had been anointed king of Israel. Was Saul anointed king? Yes. It's0:47 not a trick question. Was Saul anointed king? Yes. He was. God anointed Saul through Samuel as the king of Israel. Saul was to administrate the government of God, administrate the rule of God in0:59 Israel through the laying out of hands of Samuel. Saul lost the anointing of God. Saul disobeyed God, lost the anointing.1:12 It is always extraordinary to me that the sin of Saul in our thinking was minuscule compared to the multitude sins of David.1:25 David had some major issues in his life. Dysfunctional, problematic, manifested then in his relationship with his son Absalom.1:37 But David's heart kept turning back to the Lord. David's heart kept coming back to God. Saul seemingly,1:50 his sin was, in our eyes, not so great. He didn't kill the king of the Amalekites. He let some sheep and some goats live. What was such a big deal about that? But he lost the kingdom.2:03 Saul lost the kingdom. Samuel announces this to him. Samuel goes out to Jesse's house, and finds David. David2:15 is out in the field. Jesse calls in all his sons to present them to the prophet, forgets to call in David.2:28 You think you have father issues. The most important spiritual leader in the nation comes to your home and your father forgets you. Now this is another2:40 message, and I promise you this part will be 4 minutes, so I can't go into this. But it is amazing to me that Samuel, pastor Brian, this blows my mind. Samuel is2:52 so in tune with the prophetic spirit that even though all the sons are lined up, and he knows that 1 of them is supposed to be king. Samuel3:04 doesn't just say, well, it must be this 1. Samuel doesn't bend the prophecy to fit the moment. He has the fear of the Lord on him, and he says,3:16 you must have another son. Can you imagine to be so in tune with the word of God that you're gonna wait and say, you must have another son, and then3:28 boom, light bulb goes on for Jesse, and he remembers David. Alright. We have to move quickly. Samuel anoints3:40 David as king, announces to Saul that the kingdom's been taken for him from him, and so Saul says, oh, okay.3:52 Well, here's the keys, and here's the economy, and here's the army, and here's the is that what happened? No. No.4:04 Systems can last long after the anointing has left them. Systems can continue long4:16 after God has left the building. And so scripture says that there is this enduring season where the house of Saul is at war with the house of David.4:29 Saul has the palace, the army, the priesthood, the contracts and alliances with all the foreign powers. He has the4:41 education. Saul has the kingdom of Saul. David is in a cave with 300 weirdos4:53 waving flags and blowing shofars. And he's there with a guitar. Hallelujah.5:06 David has nothing but the word of the lord and fresh oil. I will take the word of the5:18 lord and fresh oil over all the power that the world can afford any day of the week. Grace Church, God wants5:30 to do something here. I say this respectfully to you, but you have yet to step5:42 into the fullness of what God wants to manifest in this house. What you have is beautiful. It's wonderful. You've been faithful in it. And God is inviting you to step into5:54 a greater level of the knowledge of him and the impact on your region.6:08 Don't be a nice local church. Come on. The last thing San Marcos needs6:27 create a gateway, a doorway to heaven, where God's angels can descend and touch and move, and the power of God can be released.6:40 This was the transitional season between Saul and David. Transitional season. I believe in the body of6:52 Christ, in our nation, we are in a transitional season. Many, many, many, most of the generals have gone home to be with the the Lord. And God is looking now and7:04 saying, where can I lay my anointing for the next generation? Where can I lay my anointing for David and Hannah's generation? Where can the kingdom of God expand?7:16 Now very quickly, because I'm going way past my 4 minutes. First Chronicles 12 verse 32. Can you get there? First Chronicles 12 32. 1 by 1,7:29 the tribes of Israel, listen to me, have to make a decision. Are we going to build not really build. Are we going to stay with Saul, or are we gonna shift7:41 and partner with David? The tribes of Israel are faced with a choice. Are we going to stay with what is familiar and comfortable7:53 and established and safe, or are we going out to the cave? The body of Christ in America right now is lining up like this on 1 side of the8:05 equation or the other. A big part of that is Israel, and we're gonna get there in 2 minutes. I promise you. But we have entire denominations departing8:17 from the word of God. We have pastors leaving ministry at an alarming rate. We have parents, grandparents not being able to combat the8:29 TikTok, Snapchat, Instagram culture that is consuming their children. Come on. That's right. And there's a great divide, a great shaking that's happening in the body of Christ. But can I tell you something?8:42 I am encouraged in as bad as it looks, and trust me, it looks bad. Can I tell you something? This entire book is the story of the majority getting it wrong,8:54 and God finding a holy remnant who he can partner with to change history. Find me 1 story in this book where the majority got it right.God's Epicenter: Alignment with Jerusalem 9:10 The whole book cover to cover is the majority worshiping the golden calf, grumbling in the desert, 12 spies9:22 go out, 10 come back with a negative report. We wanna be a part of the 2 spies club. We wanna have the Joshua and Caleb report of the Lord that says9:33 it doesn't matter what it looks like in culture. It doesn't matter what it looks like in politics. It doesn't matter what it looks like in media. There is a God in Zion, and he's about to9:45 release his roar into the earth who is on the Lord's side. As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. And so Israel9:57 goes through this. You're just gonna listen. I flew a long way to be here. I am not gonna worry about the time. You can worry about the time. I'm not gonna worry about the10:09 time. I've gotta get this assignment out. Alright. Very quickly, verse 32. If I'm too loud, you can turn me down a bit, brother, when the anointing hits.10:22 Verse 32. Here we go. Goodness, I am in my fifties, aren't I now? Okay. Here it is. The sons of Issachar, and this is what I wanna give you, and then we're done with this, then we're gonna transition.10:35 3 things. And I believe that I believe this is somewhat of a prophetic word for the house. So elders and pastors, I believe this is somewhat of a word for you. It says this, the sons of Issachar who10:47 understood the times knew what Israel should do, and that's where most pastors end that phrase.10:59 But there's a third part, and I want you to see it. It says, there are 200 chiefs with all of their relatives under their command.11:12 3 things. I wanna give it to you quickly. Number 1, they understood the times. They were a prophetic people. Doesn't mean they knew the calendar. It means they understood prophetically what is God doing in our11:23 season. What where is the cloud of God moving? Right. Where is the holy spirit directing? They had a prophetic heart that was sensitive to the moving of the holy spirit.11:36 Understand the times. Number 2, knew what Israel should do. They had apostolic wisdom on how to take heaven's revelation and manifest it into real life.11:49 Beloved, we can pray fast, blow shofars, anoint with oil, dance, do all of it, but until we say now, god, how is this manifest? How do we bring this12:00 forth? We we need those wisdom of heaven moments. Are you hearing me this morning? How do and so you're having the town supervisor, it sounds like. How do we begin to be salt and12:12 light in practical ways? Don't curse the darkness, light a candle. But here's the third part, 200 chiefs with all their relatives under their command.12:24 Here's number 3, covenantal unity. Make a decision right now, Grace Church, that you will become unoffendable.12:38 Make a decision as a house that you will become unoffendable. If you haven't had an opportunity yet to be offended here at Grace12:49 Church, I want you to call the office Monday morning and schedule your opportunity to be offended. Okay? Pastor13:01 Melissa walked right by me in the foyer, and she didn't stop and say good morning to me. My goodness. Yes. Because her world does revolve around13:13 you. She has nothing else to do. Beloved, can I tell you how many churches have lost the blessing of God over the color of the13:25 carpet, over the drums are too loud, the drums are too soft, why are they doing this, why hello? Beloved, make a decision as a13:37 house to walk in covenantal unity. God has given you leaders, and I I hope you understand how blessed you are to have13:48 the leaders that you have in this house. It is extraordinary. And the capacity God has given you with the leaders in this house is not for a church that is of this14:00 size. You're gonna be growing. You're gonna be expanding. The purpose of God is gonna be increasing on this house. Be a value added to this house.14:12 Be a strength to this house. Call this week sincerely and say, how do I serve? How do I how do I get involved?14:24 What can I do? I pulled up this morning. There was a wonderful young man at the front with a parking lot uniform on getting me to where I'm going. I walked in the front door, and some sweet lady shoved a bullet14:36 in my face with a warm good morning and all of that. And the bookstore folks have been get involved because this house is part of the tribe of Issachar14:48 in the transitional generation between Saul and David, and God wants to give you a prophetic heart, an apostolic wisdom, and a covenantal15:00 unity. Marry those things together as part of your DNA as you walk forward in the name of the Lord. Amen? Amen. Amen. Now I'm gonna preach.15:15 Let me tell you my assignment here this morning. My assignment is to, in the spirit, draw a line15:28 from San Marcos to Jerusalem, and that line is to go through our hearts.15:39 That's the assignment of the next few minutes we have together. Most of you probably because this is a15:51 Bible church, this is a godly church. Most of you probably have this innate sense of Israel is important. The Jewish people are special.16:05 We should pray for them. You probably have that sense. But, and I say this with love and respect, if you're like most churches,16:18 other than that generalized sense, it doesn't make a big difference in your everyday life. You probably16:31 have not found practical ways to actually walk out what that means. My goal this morning in the next few minutes is to draw that line16:43 in the spirit. Say alignment. Alignment. Say it 1 more time. Alignment. How do we come into alignment with God's epicenter?16:56 God's epicenter is Jerusalem. When my children were young, I taught them the boys where I have 3 sons. Boys, where does GodRestoring David's Tabernacle for 'That Day' 17:08 live? And I taught them. God lives in heaven. God lives in my heart, and God lives in Jerusalem. The Bible says that17:20 God has written his name in the city of Jerusalem. The Bible says that Jerusalem is God's dwelling place forever. It17:32 doesn't say that it shifted to Springfield, Missouri or Redding, California. It says that it is my Jerusalem is my dwelling place forever.17:45 Our brother just got up and rousingly talked about the coming of the Lord. Jesus is not going to be setting down by the Hollywood sign. Nope.17:57 Or in Times Square or in Tokyo, he's going to be setting his feet down on the Mount of Olives in the city of Jerusalem.18:10 My chief goal for you this morning is that each and every 1 of us, when we read our Bible and it says Jerusalem, that we would understand that it means18:22 Jerusalem. Yes. Because the church is very skilled at taking promises to Israel and the Jewish people and appropriating them to ourselves.18:35 Now we can take a scripture and step into faith and say, because I am part of God's kingdom and I have faith in the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, I I18:47 wanna God, I apply this to my life. But our our secondary application of the promise of God does not negate the primary application of the promise of God, which18:59 is to the Jewish people, Israel, and Jerusalem. That is a great place to shout amen right there. That's just a real very good. I'm preaching better than your amening, so get with it, people. You know? Have some19:12 otherwise, I'm gonna call some coffee and then order it around. Alright. She said, what does this have to do with me? I I I I I'm a single mom. I'm struggling. I I'm I'm a school19:24 teacher. I'm an electrician. I'm retired. What does this have? It has everything to do with you. Because if we believe that part of what is happening in the cosmos is that there's19:36 waiting for the spirit and the bride to say come, Then each and every 1 of us has to take our responsibility to prepare the way of the Lord.19:48 Beloved, we are not called to be church attenders. We are called to be a part of the army of God in our generation, advancing his kingdom,20:00 preparing the way of the Lord. That is who we're called to be. Look at the person behind you and tell them you're more dangerous than you look. Just tell them, you're you're really quite dangerous.20:17 Alright. So how many of you have been to Israel? Would you raise your hands if you've been to Israel? Alright. How many of you have not been to20:29 Israel? Raise your hands. So we're gonna have a time of repentance right now. We're gonna let you get right with the Lord. I want to announce to you this morning, very, very exciting,20:41 that pastor Brian and Melissa will be leading Grace Church's trip to Israel, to the Holy Land in 20 23, taking you to the holy land, taking you to20:53 Israel, baptizing you in the Jordan, and all of that. They are not aware of that yet. I am letting them know that right now, but it's easier to21:05 get forgiveness than permission in these moments, so we're just kind of letting you know that. I'm just I'll work the details out with him later. Turn to the book of Amos. Amos chapter21:17 9. Amos chapter 9 is our text. Amos chapter 9, we referenced this the other night, but we're gonna go much deeper into it this morning. Amos21:28 9 chapter I'm sorry. Amos chapter 9 verse 11. It says this. It says, on that day would you say that day? That day. Say it strong.21:40 That day. On that day, I will raise up the tabernacle of David. Let let me let me go through it. I'll go through the whole thing and21:52 we'll come back. Which has fallen down, repair its damages, rebuild its ruins, rebuild it as in the days of old so that they may possess the remnant of Edom and all the nations who22:04 are called by my name. Go down to verse 14. I'll bring back my exiled people Israel. They will build the way cities, inhabit them, plant vineyards, drink wine, make22:16 gardens, eat fruit. I will plant Israel in her own land, never again to be uprooted from the land I have given them.22:29 Not the land the United Nations has given them. Not the land the White House has given them. The land God has given them. Now we'll start at 11. On that day, would you say22:41 again that day? That day. God says, I will raise up the tabernacle of David. Not the tabernacle of Moses. He didn't say I'll restore the22:52 anointing of Isaiah. All of these he didn't say I'll bring back to Gideon's army. All of these amazing amazing leaders throughout23:04 Israel's history, but God zeroes in and God says there's a day coming. Oh, this is so important. Folks, there's a day coming. Yes. It's not gonna happen every hundred years.23:17 It's not something that just might be no. God says there's a fixed moment in time coming called that day. He announces, look for it, be aware of it, wait for the23:28 prophecy, And on that day, I'm gonna do this. I'm gonna raise up David's tabernacle. Why? Why David's tabernacle? For all of his23:40 faults, David understood this. David understood that if he would turn to his heart to God in worship, if he would23:52 minister to the presence of God, that God would arise on his behalf. David instituted 24 7 3 65 worship and prayer.24:04 David maintained the atmosphere of glory over the kingdom, and understood if I take care of God's desires, God will grant my kingdom success.24:18 Can I tell you something, Grace? Smoke machines and laser shows and skinny jean preachers are not24:30 gonna turn this nation back to God. We need a revival of the presence of God in the midst of God's house. And you are24:42 stewarding that so well here. This is a house where you sense the presence of God, And that is going to increase. I24:54 wanna speak to you this morning. There's gonna be more people on the worship team. There's gonna be multiple worship teams. There's gonna be more people released in the gifts of the spirit. There's gonna be more people25:04 released in prayer, this 6 AM prayer that's beginning. Get involved in this. Connect to this. Because God is creating a cloud of glory over this house. What is this?25:16 What this is is God saying, it's time to restore David's tabernacle. And I need to put a tent peg in to get25:28 that tabernacle. Tabernacle is a huge tent. It's a huge tent. I need to get that tent peg in and God's saying, where's my tent peg in San Marcos?25:43 Where will my resting place be in San Marcos? Where will the people be who minister to my Holy Spirit? God said, in that day, I'll restore David's fallen tabernacle. Why?25:56 Because when David worshiped God, God received a fragrance. He received a sound, and he began to pour out blessing.26:08 And he says this, I'll restore the tabernacle of David. I'll rebuild it as it used to be so they may possess the remnant of Edom and all the nations that bear my name declares the Lord who will do these26:20 things. I don't have time to get into that this morning, but the answer to global evangelism and end time harvest is the restoration of the presence of God in his house.26:32 It is not programs or systems. I I'm all about if we do major programs and systems, but beloved, they have to be birthed out of the glory. They have to be birthed out of the26:44 heart of God, out of a place of revelation, or they're just wood, hay, and stubble. And God says he says, I will26:56 verse 14, bring back the captives of my people Israel. AD 70. Who can tell27:08 me what happened in 70 AD? Pastor Brian, don't answer. The destruction of Jerusalem. The temple is destroyed. The Romans come27:19 through. They sack Jerusalem. The temple is destroyed. Israel is dispersed to the nations of the earth. Why are the Jews still here?27:32 There's no anthropological, sociological reason that this tiny group of people there's only 14000000 Jews alive today in the world. Only27:43 14000000. How many people live in California? 40000040 million. Only 14000000 Jews alive in the whole world today. Why have they not gone the way of the other27:55 nations? I said the other night, pastor Brian's gonna take me out to lunch after the service this morning. And I said, I'd like to go to a nice Hittite restaurant.28:11 Do you guys have any good Jebusite cuisine around in town? Do you have where are all the other people groups? They're gone.28:24 They're gone. This is why the devil hates the Jews. This is28:36 why the spirit of antisemitism attacks the Jewish people in every generation because their continued existence is the proof of the truth of the28:48 Bible and the promises of the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. And can I tell you something? The same God who keeps his promises to Israel is the29:00 God who's going to keep his promises in your life. And so people begin to wrestle and they say, well, I thought we're Israel now. Isn't the church Israel?29:12 And this moves us into the subtle challenge of what's called replacement theology. And it's an insidious thing because it can sound benign.29:24 It can sound, subtle, but we just start to say, well, we're we're we're the new Israel. So a lot of problems with that, but let me just give you a few of them. First of all, let me29:36 give you the truth of it. There's because every the best lies generally are shrouded in truth. Yeah. Yeah. The best lies always have quite a bit of29:47 truth mixed into them. The truth of it is, god spoke to his friend Abraham, released his covenant into the earth, and you and I, according to the apostle Paul, book of29:59 Romans chapter 9 10 11, we have been grafted in to the covenants of god, of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. We were the wild olive branch.
