A Nation Born in a Day 0:00 Can a nation be born in 1 day? The League of Nations held a vote about dividing the land of Israel. The vote in the League of Nations was positive. The Arab nations around Israel said, we're0:12 not we're not accepting this. We're gonna wipe all the Jews out. We're gonna drown them in the sea, and that's it. We didn't really have an organized army. We didn't have equipment. The Arab armies around us were much,0:22 much, much larger, but we stood.0:41 We wanna talk a little about the miracle of the birth or rebirth of the state of Israel. And I think a great way to start into this is0:53 by our personal stories, Stories of our family, the stories of our fam... Our respective families. Why don't you start with that a little bit?1:01 Well, when you think about the return the return to Israel, you're always, remembering that you cannot return if you didn't leave. So you left your home, and now you're returning.1:13 Well, at least your ancestors left, and now you are returning to a home that's yours, that was given to you. So my grandmother,1:25 they... Her family were living in Germany in 19 thirties. And, in 19 34, she strongly felt conviction, to1:37 come to Israel.1:38 Now her her family, completely Jewish, but they were already believers in Yeshua.1:43 They were believers in Yeshua back back in the 8 hundreds and 19 hundreds. They were all Orthodox Jews. And somewhere and sometime, you know, they moved from1:55 Ukraine to Poland and then to Germany. At that point in Germany, okay, Hitler was gaining power, and, it was becoming significantly difficult for Jews to leave2:07 Germany. So my grandmother, who at that time had a strong faith in God, felt a strong urge to leave Germany and come to Israel.2:19 And, she managed to get out. That was also a miracle how she arrived here. She 1st... Her 1st year was in Jerusalem, eventually ending up in Haifa.2:32 And her arrival in Haifa was significant because she met her husband there who was also living in Israel and their ancestries, lived there2:44 for hundreds of years. And they together, had a family. They raised 4 children. That's why I'm here kind of2:55 Yeah. A story of miracles and a story of God's grace really bringing her because her parents and sister, they were murdered in, in the3:07 Holocaust, and 2, 3 of her siblings, managed to survive as well.3:14 That's that's a story that is not not untypical Right. To many here. It's it's a little bit similar in my family as you know. So my... On my dad's side, his dad, his father, Spanish3:26 Jews that they were, you know, dispersed from Spain, in 14 92, moved to Portugal, expelled from Portugal in, in, 14 96, and ended up in Bulgaria for 5003:38 years. And when my grandfather was in his, you know, late teen years, maybe early twenties, he was studying to be a lawyer in the capital of Bulgaria, in the University of Sofia. And,3:50 his sister, older sister, has already come to Israel, and she was, you know, a pioneer,. And, they were, you know, building kibbutzes and this and that. And she wrote him and his other siblings, who needs another4:02 Jewish lawyer? You should come to Israel and build a, you know, build a build a land and so on and so on. And so much to the dismay of his parents, that's what he did. And when4:10 he came here, there was no land.4:13 And so my grandfather and his sister and their friends are dead dead generation. They bought land.4:19 Right.4:20 But they wouldn't sell them the good lands. They they sold them the swamps, like, where there was nothing, with, you know, cheap and unusable land. And so what my grandfather and his generation did and probably your4:31 grandmother was part of that in in in, you know, in in some way as well, they drain the swamps Mhmm. And build the land, you know, on on Israel's coastal area, the area that currently 70 percent of Israelis4:43 reside.4:44 Yeah.4:44 And so, that was in and of itself, I think, a miracle. Yeah. Now what I always like to think about is that how did the the coastal area of Israel became4:56 all swamps? And I think it's it's part of the, the genius of God. You know, the geography of Israel is such that you have the coast on the west, and east of it, you have the Samaria mountains. Now5:08 when the rain falls, it flows from the mountains and drains into the Mediterranean. Now the Mediterranean, right underneath Israel is Egypt. When the Nile gets into the Mediterranean, it5:20 sweeps a lot of sand, very fine white sand, and the Middle Eastern current or the Mediterranean current carries it to Israel. And as you can see see today in beaches that are untouched,5:32 that there is a tremendous accumulation of very fine white Yeah. Sand. Yeah. Now the water couldn't get eventually to the to the Mediterranean coming from the mountains. And as a result, you have water5:44 standing and you have swamps. Right. And that's why this area wasn't inhabited for most of the last 2000 years. I think personally kept by god to to our time. You know, we're reading5:56 Isaiah 11 that, you know, god is asking a question. Can a nation be born in 1 day?6:05 Yes. It it it can happen because it happened, and, you know, God's prophecies we see are continuously fulfilled and yet to be fulfilled. But the amazing6:17 thing is really the 19 48. Israel declared a nation. I know that this is really close to your heart about, you know, just the the the whole issue6:29 of Israel being born in 1 day.6:31 The mechanics of how it happened.6:33 Of how it happened because that by itself is a miracle. Yeah. Maybe you could just touch a few of those.6:39 Sure. So on the 29th of November 19 47, the League of Nations, late to become the United Nations, held a vote about dividing the land of Israel, you know, having the British leave6:50 and dividing the land of Israel, the eastern part, you know, the mountainous part will become part of the kingdom of Jordan, and the western side, the worthless land, you know, on the coastal area would become the Jewish7:02 state of Israel. And miraculous in and of itself, but the vote in the League of Nations was positive. I remember my dad who was a kid at the time telling me, you know, remembers the... You know, they're going up to the7:14 streets and partying, you know, all night and dancing and whatever. But then, you know, as the British prepared to leave, there was there was a statement, but it didn't yet happen. And as the British were getting ready7:25 to leave, the Arab nations around Israel said, we're not we're not accepting this. I mean, we're gonna come down and we're gonna wipe all the Jews out. We're gonna, you know, you know, drown them in the sea, and that's7:37 it. And we're gonna take back over the land. As the British prepare to leave, you know, the the Jewish people, the generation of your grandmother, my grandfather, they are preparing to7:48 defend themselves. And so about 6 months later, just before the British literally left or right after, on the 14th of May 198:00 48, the, the 1st Israeli government declared the statehood. And so in a very real way, also legally8:11 speaking, was born born in a day. And then and then, you know, the war, what we call the war of independence started when several armies, all around have attacked us and, much to the, surprise...8:23 I mean, it was really was a miracle that state of Israel has won. We didn't really have an organized army. We didn't have equipment. The Arab armies around us were much, much, much larger, better equipped,8:36 but, but we stood. And so, again, still the story of our lives in a lot of ways, but here we are. I think for a lot of our viewers, also, they're hearing a lot of chatter also in Christian8:47 circles that to be a Zionist is really bad. So what is a Zionist? What... Where's the word coming from? What what what what what can we say about8:59 Zionism? The Biblical Meaning of Zionism 9:00 Well, it... Its origin is in the Bible. So all those that are wondering where it comes from, it comes from the Bible, which most of us believe in, you know, and, even those9:12 that say that they're anti Zionists. It actually appears about 153 times if I'm correct. And, actually, God says that he desires9:25 Zion. You know, in Hebrew, the words are very, very strong, but that's his desire of his heart is Zion, a name for Jerusalem, but also for Israel.9:35 For the nation.9:36 For the nation. For for the land of Israel. So Zion is actually a wonderful name. It's a it's a beautiful, glorious name. It has, obviously, its physical location, but also there's a9:48 lot of spiritual significance to the name.9:51 That's right. And and very, very specifically, many people recognize the word Zion or remember it in the Bible because it says in Psalm 1 37 verse 1, on the rivers of Babylon where we sat down10:03 and we wept, remembering Zion. Zion. And so Zion in the Bible carries the idea of of a heart's desire of something you you long for. We see that in Jewish tradition10:15 wherein oftentimes, you know, when not oftentimes, every every Passover, every Jewish family will say Mhmm. Next year in Zion, next year in Jerusalem. Yeah. And so that was something that's very10:27 present10:27 Right.10:28 In, throughout, Jewish history.10:31 So we know it's very, very meaningful to us. We know it's a biblical and spiritual meaning. But then we should ask, you know, there is so much people... So many people10:43 that are, going against his word. What would that mean... What would Zion mean to them eventually to all those that love Zion? What would they gain from Zion? And10:54 that's the question.10:55 And I think that's the key point. Because if you label yourself anti Zionism and God says, I love Zion. I desire11:07 Zion. Who you put yourself against? Not against you and me. You know? It's against God himself.11:14 God himself. But, also, that would be a place where all nation, it says, will come11:20 To worship the lord of hosts.11:21 To worship the lord of hosts. All nation means all nations that are not from the Jewish people, obviously, will come and join the blessings of Israel coming up to the11:33 mountain and worshiping God in Zion. So that would also be part of the messianic kingdom, which includes all those that really share and participate11:45 in Yeshua's, in Yeshua's salvation and those that love what God loves. And what God loves is11:57 Zion.11:58 Amen. And I think, you know, in in in the Bible, we see it in in in circles, so to speak, that are increasingly significant. You know, it starts with Abraham and Isaac, you know, going up Mount Moriah, Mount12:10 Zion, where Isaac is carrying the wood for his own sacrifice before the angel intervenes and stops Abraham from sacrificing his son. And then later on, we see the son of God Mhmm.12:22 Going up the same hill with the wood on which he himself will be sacrificed. And as you say, it's gonna be on the same hill that he himself will come and reign not just Israel,12:34 but the entire world from Zion.12:37 From Zion.12:38 So it's something to look forward to.12:40 Yes. Up until a few years ago, there were more Jewish people living outside of Israel than inside of Israel. What made that change? Today, actually, the majority12:52 lives in Israel because that also has a significance.12:56 True. The goat says in his word, you know, through the prophets, that he's gonna send hunters and fishers, fishermen, to bring his people, people of Israel, back13:08 to this land. And so that means that he's gonna... God's gonna employ different methods to bring us. Now when the state of Israel was established, so the generation of your grandmother, my grandparents, there were there13:20 were about 10 in hand, just over 10000000 Jewish people left in the world because 6 were murdered. 6000000 were murdered in the Holocaust. Of the 10000000, less than 1000000 were residing in13:32 Israel. So 9 9... More than 9000000 Jewish people residing outside the land. Mhmm. Now the estimates are that there's about 14000000 Jewish people around the13:43 world. Over 0.5, 7500000 Jewish people reside in the land of Israel. So for the 1st time, at least since the time of Yeshua, since the time of Christ, there13:55 are more Jewish people residing in the land of Israel than outside. Now is that... And I think every every follower of Yeshua has to ask themselves. Is that, you know, an14:07 accident, an act of men? Is that outside of God's will or through his sovereignty, through his word, is God fulfilling what he said?14:18 Right.14:18 And,14:19 right, we14:20 think it's it's part of God's plan.14:22 And we're... When we're thinking about, the remnant, and I'm talking about those that... The disciples of Yeshua, those that love Yeshua and, call him14:33 Lord. Okay? We're talking about that, and we're thinking about, for example, in 19 48, there were maybe 23 families.14:43 No. 23 individuals.14:44 Individuals. Sorry. 23 individuals living in...... Grandmother was 1 of them. Right. So that... That's 19 48. Right? And, we we14:56 we think about, you know, the time where, there was going to be war and we're afraid that, you know, that all the Jewish believers would be slaughtered.15:08 Right.15:08 Can you talk about the grace operation?15:11 Yeah. So before before 19 48, as the British were prepared to leave, okay, so in this 6 month season between the vote in the UN and, the self declaration of the state of Israel by the Israeli15:23 government, you know, the British are preparing to leave, and they're... At that time, there were several hundreds, apparently, Jewish believers in Yeshua under the British mandate. And so the Brits,15:35 under the auspices of the Anglican church decided to do what they call Operation Grace. And they came to, you know, to the believers in Yeshua, then they said, listen. There's gonna be a war, and15:47 it's most likely that the Arabs are gonna win. And when the Arabs are gonna slaughter all the Jews, they're not gonna ask you, are you a believer in Jesus or not? They're just gonna slaughter all the Jews. So they're15:56 gonna kill you. Now with the off chance, small chance that the Jews are gonna win, they don't like you anyway. They're not gonna kill you, but they don't like you. So the Anglican church16:07 offered to the Jewish believers in Jesus, asylum in the United Kingdom, in England, and the majority left. And, you know, again, your grandmother is 1 of the few that16:20 has remained in the land. Now we, you know, we've... Fast forward 78 years, and we're... Israel is now 78 years old. Mhmm. And conservative estimates are that16:32 there's between 30000 to 50000 Jewish followers of Yeshua Mhmm. In over 300 synagogues, congregations, churches around the country. So,16:44 yes, we still are a remnant, a small portion, but we're much bigger, more visible, remnant. And, you know, in the state of Israel, we're 100 percent,16:55 equal rights citizens. We vote. We serve in the military. We, participate in social life. And so, that in and of itself is something that hasn't happened literally since the time of Jesus.17:08 Yeah.17:09 Today, we are celebrating a milestone. Our Hebrew language YouTube channel has officially reached 1000000 subscribers. I could have never imagined17:20 we'd be at this milestone. But let me put this in context. 95 percent of these subscribers are Hebrew speakers living right here in Israel. That's a17:32 huge impact in a small country. That means more than 1 in 8 Hebrew speakers in Israel are subscribed to a channel dedicated to speaking about Yeshua,17:44 outranking all major broadcasters and many top pop stars. This growth and impact is unprecedented, and I truly believe it is a sign we're17:56 approaching the days the Apostle Paul spoke about in the book to the Romans. Awakening is coming to Israel. But this isn't just about views and clicks.18:08 Israelis are genuinely engaging, asking questions, ordering new testaments, and searching for truth. For the 1st time since the 1st century,18:20 Jewish people are awakening to the gospel. And for many of them, our channel is the 1st step. Through teaching, apologetics and worship, they are encountering18:32 Yeshua. Some for the very 1st time. We wanna take this moment to celebrate. But this is not the finish line. There is much more content to create,18:44 more questions to answer, and our hope is to provoke these seekers to take a step into faith and life as a disciple of Yeshua. So celebrate with us as18:56 even more Israelis invite us into their homes and devices. And help us to steward this unique opportunity we've been given. Together, let's keep blessing IsraelThe Return of Jewish People to Israel 19:08 with the gift of Yeshua.19:18 I remember when I was a little girl praying to God before I went to bed, I soaked up everything I could. I was in synagogue about 5 or 6 days a week between Hebrew19:29 school and choir. I loved my synagogue. I loved my community. It was my whole life. The rabbis, the cantor, and we had a beautiful19:41 community. But there was still something missing. I remember when I was a little girl praying to19:53 God before I went to bed, I would have these little conversations with him in my room at night when I was going to sleep. My mother, when I was very young, would tell me that if I20:05 was ever nervous or scared or I just couldn't sleep, that I could talk to God and he would hear me. So I believed her, and I had a Bible,20:17 and I would read it. And I was really, really enamored. I really looked up to the Jewish prophets. I admired them so much. There was something about them that was so special to me that I20:28 wanted to emulate because when I read those stories, even the kids version, they had this relationship with God. Like, even as a child, I20:40 recognized that. And as a child, I wanted that with God. So when I got a little bit older and I started going to Hebrew school, I soaked up everything20:52 I could. I was was in synagogue about 5 or 6 days a week between Hebrew school and choir and all the other activities that I was participating in. So my canter noticed21:04 this and he noticed I had a gift for music. So he took me under his wing and in a way he sort of apprentice me. He started giving me all of these opportunities in the21:15 Jewish community. And to me, at that young age, I thought, you know, things aren't the way they were in the bible anymore. This is the way we do it now. This is the way to become like a21:27 prophet. You follow the path of the synagogue. You become a leader in the Jewish community. You listen to your rabbi and your cantors and that's how you get there. Well, about that time, my parents were21:39 divorced and so I was being mostly raised by my mother with a lot of involvement from my grandparents And everything was Jewish. My whole life was Jewish,21:51 although my father was not. So my father started going to these promise keeper meetings, and he starts talking about this guy, Jesus. Of course, I'd heard about Jesus22:03 before, but I'd never really had a conversation about him. And my father starts quoting bible verses to me, scripture. And, you know, I start to see his22:15 life change. He's changing and he's... The way he's relating to me is changing. Things are improving for him. And every time we're in the car or we wake up in the22:27 morning, he's got the radio on or he's got a CD on and it's always Christian music. And, you know, I was musical. So I thought, you know what? Great. This is so good for my dad. This is improving22:39 his life. He's having a greater relationship with God. That's what I'm about. So this is great for him. Well, then he started taking my little brother to these promise keepers meetings, and my little brother started22:51 talking about Jesus and saying that he believed in Jesus. But then, a couple years later, my mother, my Jewish mother, invited me to church23:03 to see her get baptized. And that was the moment I thought, okay. I don't know what to do with this. What is my mother doing? On 1 hand, you're talking about how proud we should23:15 be to be Jewish and have survived all of these things that our family has gone through. And on the other hand, you're doing this very seemingly anti Jewish thing. You're getting baptized.23:27 I don't know what to do with that. At that moment, it became kind of a crossroads for me. I I don't know how to categorize my mother anymore. And at that23:39 point, I'd been working with my rabbis at the synagogue for a few years. I was in high school, and I loved I loved my synagogue. I loved my community. It was my whole life.23:51 The rabbis, the cantor, they were all so wonderful to me and they were good men and we had a beautiful community, but there was still24:02 something missing. And until I was challenged by my mother's decision, About a year later, my aunt and uncle on my father's side, so they're not24:14 Jewish, they were responsible for the youth group at their church. They were very strong believers in Jesus. And they were taking their youth group to a Christian24:26 concert, big concert with all these Christian artists. And they called to see if I'd like to go with them. And at that point, I've been hearing Christian music for about 5 years nonstop from my father. So24:38 I thought, hey. This is a free concert, and I'm probably gonna know a bunch of these songs, so I went. And in the middle of this concert, the lead singer of the24:49 concert stopped to talk to everyone. And he said, Jesus died for your sins and rose from the dead as proof that God had accepted25:01 his payment for our sins. Thought, okay. Well, I've heard that before. I'm Jewish. You know, we're taught to do more good than bad, and that's good enough. So,25:13 you know, that's your thing. It's not mine. But then he said something, and I will never forget it because I've25:34 perked up. And I perked up. And I'd never made that connection before. If that was true, if Jesus really fulfilled what the25:46 prophets talked about and he can get me from here to here, then I'm listening. I'm paying attention. I want that. I will I will do anything to get closer to God as a Jew. I will do25:58 anything to have that relationship with God that the prophets had. I think I do believe this. I said I want this. I want you. I want a relationship with you. I wanna be able to talk to you.26:10 And in that moment, I felt the Holy Spirit, come into my body. I felt it. It took me a while to really26:22 reconcile what it meant for me as a Jewish person to be Jewish and believe in the Jewish Messiah. I didn't fully understand that at 1st.26:34 And I'm not 1 of those people who was off searching for God in all these different ways. I I had a wonderful synagogue experience. I never had a bad synagogue experience my whole26:45 life. I wasn't trying to walk away. I wasn't rejecting being Jewish. I was looking for the real thing, the most real thing I could find, the26:57 most real relationship with God. And I can tell you from experience, you don't get that from opening up a book. You don't get that from just opening up the Bible orA Jewish Woman's Journey to Yeshua 27:10 opening up a prayer book or going to a synagogue and having a wonderful service where you're singing these beautiful songs to God, the only way you get that is through Yeshua.27:23 He's the only way. And then after 7 years, I was asked to sing for a Messianic Bar Mitzvah. This family was having other family27:35 come to the Bar Mitzvah that were not believers in Yeshua. And they wanted them to feel comfortable and to feel like the service was very familiar. And this messianic congregation27:47 did liturgy already, but they asked me to chant it, as it would be normally done in a more mainstream synagogue. And, of course, I agreed.27:58 Well, it was through this bar mitzvah that the rabbis heard about it, and that became a problem. So I was called into the office, and, of course, I knew what was coming because28:11 not that many of us believe in Yeshua or sing at messianic bar mitzvahs. So I sat down with the rabbi, the youth rabbi, and we had this great conversation28:22 about, what I believe exactly. He said, you know, it's a shame nothing's changed in 2000 years. I couldn't believe he said that. What he meant was it's a28:34 shame that people who believe differently are not more accepted in the Jewish community. I was kind of the golden child in my synagogue for a long time. And when they started talking about it again,28:46 they said, we love her. She's she's family, but people won't understand this. You know, she can't stay on staff. It took me a28:57 while to reconcile my identity, what it meant to be Jewish and believe in Jesus because other than really my mother, I didn't know anyone else like that.29:09 If I did not believe that Jesus was the Jewish messiah, I would not believe in him. He was a rabbi. He had talmidim. He had students of his own. He lived a Jewish life.29:21 He... Even in... He preached from a Jewish book. He preached from the Tanakh. It wasn't all this new stuff. It was from the Tanakh. But I still go to the synagogue. I still sing in the choir for the high29:33 holidays. And if I have a relationship with you and the conversation comes up, yeah, I believe in Yeshua. And I'm never gonna stop doing that. I29:45 follow a Jewish messiah and I will never stop loving my people, not just because it's my heart, but because it's Yeshua's heart. When I found Yeshua,29:57 my identity didn't change. I didn't stop all of a sudden being Jewish. I still go to synagogue. It never occurred to me, not for a moment, that I would leave the synagogue. Oh, I30:09 believe in Jesus, so now I don't go to synagogue anymore. He's Jewish. He went to synagogue. He preached in synagogues. I would... And even as I started learning about Jesus, it just even made more sense.30:23 Today, we are witnessing a spiritual awakening in Israel unlike anything we've ever seen.
