Two Invitations: Temptation or Wisdom 0:01 The following program is sponsored in part by friends and partners of Jenson Franklin Media Ministries.0:09 Together, we're inspiring people to live for Jesus. If you're looking for more in life, to live with purpose and peace, to make a difference for your family and those in need around the world, Jesus is the answer,0:21 and our mission is to simply point you to him. You're watching Kingdom Connection with Jetson Franklin.0:31 Proverbs chapter seven. Go there with me. Proverbs chapter seven and verse six. There are two different0:43 women that this text is talking about. One that I'm gonna read, there are two different chapters we're gonna read from. But this one, both of them are0:55 sending out invitations. Two invitations, they're sending their two beautiful women according to the scriptures. Beautiful women sending out beautiful1:09 engraved invitations, basically. And they require a decision. And1:20 I want you to see in verse six, the first invitation. For at the window of my house, I looked through my lattice and saw among the simple I1:32 perceived among the youth, a young man devoid of understanding. Passing along the street near her corner, he took the path to her house in the twilight in1:44 the evening in the black and dark night. There was a woman who met him with an attire of a harlot and crafty heart. She1:56 was loud and rebellious. Her feet would not stay at home. At times, she was outside, at times in the open square, lurking in every2:07 corner. So she caught him and kissed him with an impeding face. She said to him, notice this, I have peace offerings with me.2:20 Today, I have paid my vows. According to Leviticus seven, she would have had to have done that at the temple. She would have had to gone to church. She had a religious cloak2:31 about her. She had some religion, but she's a married woman and she says these words, I have a peace offering with me today. I've paid my2:43 vows. I came out to meet you. Diligently to seek your face, I have found you. I have spread my bed with tapestry2:55 colored coverings from Egyptian linen. I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloe, cinnamon. Come let us take our feel of love until morning.3:08 Let us delight ourselves with love for my husband is not at home. He's gone on a long journey and he has taken a bag of money with him and he will come back home on an3:19 appointed time. With her enticing speech, she caused him to yield. With her flattering lips, she seduced him. He immediately went3:31 after her as an ox goes to the slaughter or a fool to the correction of the stocks. And then I3:43 want you to read and go over to chapter nine. Now here's another beautiful woman and she's sending out an invite. And her name is Lady Wisdom.3:56 Verse one begins, wisdom has built notice it's her house. And and usually in the text of Proverbs, every time wisdom is mentioned is referred to as her. And I want4:08 you ladies to get that smirk off your face because you you know you're smarter than us and we know you're smarter than us. But wisdom has built her house.4:20 Notice this, she has hewn out her seven pillars. She has slaughtered her meat. She has mixed her wine. She has also furnished her4:32 table. Wisdom has a table furnished. She has sent out her maidens notice. She cries out from the highest place of the city. Whoever4:44 is simple, let him turn in here. As for him who lacks understanding, she says to him, come eat of my bread and drink of the wine that I have4:55 mixed. Forsake foolishness and live and go in the way of understanding. I'll stop reading there. So this5:07 is what I'm talking about. I'm talking about canceling the invitation to temptation. There's two invitations giving and there are two5:19 parties that are prepared. You can't be in two places at one time. All of you got... Are getting the same invitation5:31 that's being extended continually. And you have to choose, you have to RSVP one, and you cannot stay neutral. You're either going to5:43 enter into the house of folly, into the house of temptation, into the house of sin? Are you going to enter into the house of wisdom? Both have sent you an5:54 invitation. It's your decision, not God's. It's your decision. Which party will you attend? That's the question I wanna answer6:06 and I want you to answer this morning. Both... I wanna point out a few things about both parties. Number one, both parties are fun and enjoyable. Both parties have goodThe Preparations of the Harlot and Lady Wisdom 6:18 food. Both parties have entertainment that has been provided. Both parties are held at the same time, so you can't go to both.6:31 You can't go back and forth. You gotta choose one or the other. And if you choose one, you are giving up the other. All of you6:43 must RSVP ahead of time which party you choose. The host of both parties are beautiful, attractive6:55 women. The first invitation from a... Is from a lady that the bible calls, I wanted to sweeten it up. I was gonna call her Charlotte, but her name is Harlot in the7:07 text. And the second invitation is from a lady that is called wisdom. And I7:18 want to describe the difference between the two parties. The first party is hosted by this woman7:30 called the harlot. It's it's the spirit really. It's the spirit of the world. And Proverbs lets us know that her party is all7:42 about the sensual and the carnal, and you're invited to that party and every one of us get that invitation every day of our lives. It's about the lust of the flesh, the lust of7:54 the eyes, the pride of life. It appeals to that. It's designed to appeal to the sensual and the carnal. Lady wisdom8:06 sends an invite, and she is inviting you to the spiritual, the eternal.8:18 The invitation of her party is to appeal to you spiritually. To appeal to you in your spiritual desires and longings, and spiritual taste.8:31 And if you were to summarize the two parties in one word, the first party is a party to to enter into temptation. The second party is a party that8:43 God himself says, if you move in this direction and you accept this invitation to wisdom's house, You can sum it all up in one8:55 word. The promise is opportunities. One is temptation, one is opportunities. If you take the wrong temptations, you can see the9:07 opportunities affected. And I'm preaching this morning to young people, and I'm preaching today to young couples,9:19 and I'm preaching to older men and elders, and I'm preaching to middle aged people. You have to respond. You cannot just9:31 ignore. You will end up in that temptation if you don't respond. Which party will you attend? And I wanna compare9:43 the two. The first thing I wanna show you in this comparison is the preparations both women made. Both women have worked hard.9:55 Both women have different preparations. In Proverbs seven, we're told the harlot's preparations. Notice it. They're all superficial.10:08 She said, I have decked my bed and decorated it. I have fine linen from Egypt. I have carvings on the bed. I have10:20 tapestry, tapestry. I have perfumed my bed with special spices and smells. It's designed to appeal to the senses.10:32 It's it's it's designed to appeal to touch, to smell, to taste. It's designed, listen, to catch your eye. The house of temptation is designed to10:44 catch your eye. It's temporary. It's a one night stand. It it... She even makes reference to my husband is out of town. I'm not10:55 interested in a long term relationship with you. I'm only interested in temporal momentary satisfaction. There's pleasure in sin11:07 for a season then comes destruction. Every time. And the man is on a trip, so there is a11:19 finish date that sin has. Anytime the devil gives you a pleasure, everything in his bag of tricks, there is an expiration date on it. I11:31 don't care. And I'm not denying that it's not pleasurable. But the devil is after every man, every woman, every marriage, every family, every teenager,11:43 every child that I'm preaching to right now. And it's designed... The the the house that she had prepared, the setting that she had prepared was11:54 designed to catch the eye. It was a party that was appealing to the flesh. Listen carefully. It's preparation for a one night stand12:06 plan. She has a one night stand plan. Notice that there's nothing in the enemies in the temptation plan that has to do with the long12:18 haul. No plan for generations. No plan for the future in it. No plan, but a one night stand.12:30 No plan, no destiny, no future, no marriage in it, no commitment in it, no concern for the children, the12:41 children's children. Your marriage, nothing. It's a decision to attend the harlot's party is to say yes to the temporary. That12:53 which thrills and then kills. That which fascinates and then assassinates. I13:05 want something that will last in my life. I want something that is based on more than just the sensual,13:16 the temporary, the one night stand plan. The enemy will lie to you and tell you everybody's doing the one night stand plan.13:28 And it's just how it is and it's... I even have had people tell me it's how God made us. He did make us with desire, but it is to be in the marriage13:40 covenant. Lady Wisdom's invitation sounds like this. Listen to the difference now. Listen to the difference. One is13:52 temporary, a one night stand plan. That's it. He's coming back. There's an expiration date on this affair. It's good. But now listen to14:04 wisdom, the lady wisdom's invitation. She begins her first verse by saying, wisdom has built her house. She has dug14:15 out seven pillars. Notice the words houses and pillars speaks of tremendous preparation. You don't just build a house on a one14:27 night stand. You don't just build a foundation for generations on a one night stand plan. You build pillars not out of temporary relationships,14:39 but out of those whom God had put together, let no man pull asunder. It speaks of foresight. It14:51 speaks of planning. It speaks of great future, a great future together in generations. It speaks of generations. It15:03 speaks of thinking about the long haul, not the momentary sensual fulfillment of the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes.15:15 If you take the invitation to the harlot's house, it will lead you to pain and sorrow. And my objective in this sermon...15:27 And I didn't expect to get any amens, and I don't need any because I've come with a word from the Lord. And he said, if you'll tear up the harlot's invitation and fully choose the house of wisdom,15:39 opportunities. Oh, God has everything we could ever dream and even so much more. Life and15:51 life more abundantly. I wanna respond to Lady Wisdom's invite.16:03 I want something lasting. And I'm preach... Preaching this morning, get your eyes off of the cheap. Get your eyes off of the temporary, and get your eyes on16:16 that that which will stand the test of time. Build your life build your life and your future on something that will last. A house with pillars that has16:28 been prepared. It's got strength. It's got future in it. It's got blessing in it. It's got the favor of god in it. Don'tThe Danger of Secret Affairs 16:39 think that you're too godly for those of you who sit and say, and this sermon is not for me. Don't think that you're too godly for the harlot's invitation to get to16:51 you. We have to constantly embrace lady wisdom. We have to constantly choose between the invites and17:02 embrace wisdom that says, my flesh may want to do one thing, but wisdom says, this is the solid thing, the right thing, the godly thing and17:14 the thing that will bring joy. You have to constantly hear and think and let God17:26 guide you by the spirit. I'm here to preach and prevent pain and shipwreck.17:38 If you sin, God will forgive you. He loves you, but you gotta cry out and choose wisdom. You gotta start eating from wisdom's17:50 menu. You gotta start feeding your spirit. You gotta start hearing God's word above every other voice. Notice another clear distinction18:02 between the two invitations. The harlot's party and invitation. Notice this, she describes a private18:14 isolated, just you and me affair is secret. It's be quiet about it. It's it's it's it's it's just us too.18:27 Lady wisdom says, get in the highest building that you can find in the city and shout with a loud voice, everybody18:38 come. I wanna preach right here. Notice what she said. She found this young man and she said, I have been18:52 to the temple and offered a peace offering and paid my vows. She carried her seduction in a cloak of spirituality.19:06 You gotta watch anybody who starts trying to tell... Do secret stuff. Secret stuff versus open stuff.19:18 You ought not to have those kinds of secrets. One of the dangers of social media is it's just you and me. It's just19:30 us. It's just texting and apps that even disappear after a few seconds, and it's a message just between me and you. There are19:42 pictures just between me and you. Boy, it's quiet in this Presbyterian church this morning. I tell you that. But this is19:54 some serious stuff. A married man has no business texting with a woman at midnight when we're talking about the Lord. No,20:06 you're not. You're opening a door to the devil. I'm not against the use of social media. I'm20:18 against the stupid use of social media. Why would any Christian have an app that sends a message and it disappears thirty seconds later20:30 or whatever? I don't know. I don't have one. I don't know how to do an app. I have no apps. And I want it that way. They try to do it. I don't want it. I don't look at my Twitter. I don't I don't even20:42 have it. I don't I don't... All I have is Instagram. That's it. And my kids know my code, and they can look at my phone, and my wife can take my phone. I'm not20:53 I'm not... I'm I'm I'm just telling you that that that the enemy's invitation is one of secrecy.21:06 Maybe you've watched this program, and you felt the Holy Spirit while I preached. I pray you have. And I just feel faith today for what man cannot do, God21:18 can do. And, Lord, stretch forth your hand to heal today every person watching this broadcast that needs a healing touch. You're the God that said, by my stripes,21:30 we are healed. There is none beside you. You are a healing god, and you are a saving god. So right now, if you're watching this program, and you really wanna get back to god,21:42 you wanna you wanna surrender everything to him, maybe you're going through a crisis, and it's got your full attention. And you know the answer deep down in your heart. It's Jesus.21:54 Call on him. Call on him. He can still help. He can still deliver. Say these words, Jesus, I pray right now for forgiveness of22:06 sins. I repent. I turn myself around, and I come back to you. Wash me. Cleanse me. Forgive me. God, we ask You22:18 today for what man cannot do. In Jesus' mighty name. Hallelujah. Praise the Lord. I believe it. And I believe that You're experiencing the powerA Prayer for Forgiveness and Healing 22:30 of prayer. It's not how long we pray, but even while I've been praying, I could sense that god is doing something right where you are. If you prayed that prayer, take a22:41 moment and call. Go online. If you'd like, let us know about the decision you've made. We'd love to hear from you and help you take the next steps with your walk with God. A lot of free resources22:53 that'll bless you, help you in your brand new journey with Jesus Christ.23:02 On October seventh, Southern Israel experienced the worst massacre of Jews since the Holocaust. Children, families, and entire communities were attacked by terrorists who murdered,23:14 kidnapped, and shattered lives. Today, twenty five hundred children in Eshkol are trying to return to school, to safety, and to life, but the threat is not23:26 over. Terrorists across the border continue to threaten civilian areas with anti tank missiles. In partnership with the Jewish National Fund, Jenson23:38 Franklin Media Ministries Ministries has built hundreds of safe rooms, fortified the Kingdom Play School, and constructed bomb shelters and a resilient center that protect families in Eshkol every day.Standing with Israel and Voting Your Values 23:50 Now the next urgent step is completing the Eshkol wall of protection, a massive reinforced wall designed to protect the children coming into school.24:00 Today, I believe more than ever. I don't care what the media is saying. I don't care what politics are saying. I believe more than ever. It's crucial24:12 for the church to stand with Israel. God's word declares, I will bless those who bless you, oh Israel, and I will curse those who curse you. Thank24:24 you for standing with Israel, and thank you for helping this ministry take the gospel of Jesus Christ into Israel and all over the world, helping us make a24:35 difference in this crucial prophetic hour of human history.24:41 Today as you stand with Israel in her hour of need, you are not only helping protect these precious children, you are helping fulfill biblical prophecy. Your gift creates a hedge of protection for over24:53 twenty five hundred children in Eshcol and their families. Stand with the children of Eshcol. Stand with Israel.25:08 This November, we will be faced with one of the most consequential elections of our lifetime. If ever there has been a time that God's people, the Christians, need to stand up25:20 and be counted, it's right now with some of the most critical political decisions that could affect not only your generation but generations to come. I would be remiss25:32 if I didn't remind you that all that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good people and especially God's people to remain silent. This November,25:44 you cannot remain silent. You must make your voice heard. Vote your values in the midterm elections. This isn't just about left wing or right wing or even25:56 Democrat and Republican. This is about doing the right thing. This is about standing up for biblical belief. This is about standing up for the next generation and making sure that our26:08 children have freedom. They're not in a socialist nation or a communist nation. I know that I'll be at the polls casting my vote. And, you know,26:19 both parties are flawed. You can always find something that you disagree with, but I'm a tell you something. I will never be able to vote for someone who is not pro26:31 life, pro Israel, pro religious freedom, and really just love this nation. This will continue to be one nation under god only26:43 as long as god's people stand up and make their voices heard and vote. I challenge each of you to vote, vote early, and remind everyone26:55 you know about just how important these midterms are. Thank you for listening, and may God continue to bless America is my prayer.27:39 And I think when you preach sermons like this, deep in your heart, whether you like it or not, deep in your heart, you know that I'm not just standing up here27:51 giving you a good little feel good sermon. I'm telling you what leads to life, what leads to destiny, what leads to purpose, what leads to opportunity. That's when I really felt.28:03 The Lord said, tell them I've got doors of opportunity they cannot even imagine.28:11 This program has been sponsored in part by friends and partners of Jenson Franklin Media Ministries.
