## Written prayer

Father, how sad these disciples must have felt when they continually fell asleep when Jesus needed them most. The oppression of the sins of the world weighed heavy upon Jesus and his soul travailed in agony. Striving against sin is an intense spiritual battle that demands focused attention and a strength that only you, Lord, can give. That is why your word says I am to pray without ceasing to keep myself fortified for unexpected and sudden attacks against my loved ones or me. This also reminds me of the 10 virgins who needed to keep their lamps filled with oil because they didn’t know when the bridegroom would arrive. When he did arrive five couldn’t go with him because they had no oil in their lamps. If I am not diligent in prayer the world will seduce my spirit into slumber and it will be too easy for me to compromise my testimony in Christ. Keep me ever-alert Lord, for the enemy is prowling around seeking whom he may devour. Teach me to hate sin and forsake all the enemy wants to tempt me with so I can ransom the sinners for whom you prayed, agonized, and bled for. Make me a prayer warrior in your kingdom. In Jesus name, amen.
