## Written prayer

Dear heavenly father, the Pharisees often regularly fasted twice a week besides the national day fasting as a sign of their moral high ground. They wanted to know why Jesus and his disciples didn’t fast like they did. Jesus illustrated his relationship with his believers as a bride and her beloved bridegroom. Jesus is our glorious bridegroom long waited for. What joy we have when he arrives to walk among us. He has betrothed us to himself for all eternity in his covenant of grace. This is a time of joy and feasting, this is not a time of sorrow and fasting. Jesus came to teach us about the kingdom of heaven and show us what the word looked like in flesh form. Jesus was the word wrapped in flesh for us to see the glory of God in human form. He foretold of his death and said when the bridegroom is taken from them then it is time to fast. That is when we will need to fast to keep our flesh in submission to the spirit of God. We will be left to fight the spiritual battles by the power of his holy spirit. In Jesus name, amen.
