## Written prayer

Dear father, forgive me for we have all fallen short of the glory of God. As hard as I try things pop into my head that I am ashamed of. When I see people suffer great loss or sudden death, or slanderous accusations I think for a moment that maybe they are reaping the consequences of their sins. But I know better than that and I hear your strong voice rebuke me for the error of my thinking and tell me no! No one can avoid the stroke of death and I should always be aware that each day is a gift to value and appreciate. I must be quick to repent and hold no record of wrong against anyone. There are many who irritate and upset me – who hurt me and abuse me – and reject and pass over me. Life is unfair and too short for me to hold grudges against anyone. Teach me to be quick to acknowledge my sinful thoughts and repent. Repentance keeps me humble before you and makes me aware of my need for you. Without repentance I show that I have no need for forgiveness and that is a prideful and arrogant attitude. Keep me teachable and surrender to your will. Don’t let me think more highly of myself than I should, for I will always need your forgiveness and daily need of repentance. Thank you that your mercies are always available for a sinner like me. In Jesus name, amen.
