## Written prayer

Heavenly Father, I love the Easter story and it’s glorious truth. I love that the heavenly angel told the women who entered the tomb to go tell his disciples, and Peter, that Jesus would meet them in Galilee and they could see for themselves that he was alive and risen from the grave. What mercy and kindness of the Lord to mention Peter specifically. He knew that Peter was hurting for having denied Jesus before his death. He dishonored himself and betrayed his faith after boasting he would never do that. Jesus certainly could have overlooked him but he loved him and understood that his flesh failed him. Jesus knew the sorrow and repentance in Peter's heart and forgave him. He wanted to make sure his words would bring comfort to him so he wasn’t lost in his sorrow on this glorious day of ascension. This is the heart of love that draws all men to himself. Your sacrificial love is beyond human comprehension. I will never know the depth of that kind of love except through you. Your compassion is beyond measure and your tenderness is a healing balm that soothes the wounded soul. I love you my Lord, and rejoice in your goodness. In Jesus name, amen.
