## Written prayer

Heavenly Father, there are so many times when I find myself turning to the side roads of distraction and enticement. It is those times when I find myself alone and distanced from your presence that I run back to you and repent for my wandering ways. Forgive me for taking my eyes off of you and treading into the enemy's territory. Forgive me for being seduced by idols and vain confidences in worthless things. The only things that have eternal value are what is done out of love and faithfulness to your word. You are the Lord who exercises loving-kindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth: these are what you delight in. Teach me to delight in all that you do Lord. I take so much for granite until I suffer the consequences of my sins and then I realize how good you are to me. Give me the strength to resist the temptations of this life and wait on you. When I rush out on my own without you I always suffer pain and disappointment and come limping back to you. Teach me to continually wait on you and not grow impatient when it seems you are slow to respond. What you require of me is to do justly and to love mercy and walk humbly with you. Show me how to do this Lord, In Jesus name, amen.
