## Written prayer

Heavenly father today is the beginning of lent. It is a time for me to reflect on the true meaning of Easter. I know Easter is the time we celebrate the resurrection of Christ from the dead, but the price he paid for my sins that drove him to that cross is a somber consideration that I never want to forget. I know many religions choose to give up something they love in remembrance of Christ's sacrifice for us. Others spend more time in prayer and meditation to replicate the 40 days Christ fasted in the dessert. Show me what you would have me do to draw near to you at this special time. Purify my heart Lord and realign my commitment to you and all you have done for me. Don’t ever let me take the price you paid for my sins casually. Help me understand the pain you suffered because of your unconditional love for me. You paved the way with your life so I could be with you forever in your father’s house. You love me so much you laid down your life that I might live. Don’t ever let me forget that revelation of love. You deserve all the honor and praise forever and ever, in Jesus name, Amen.
