## Written prayer

Gracious God, you made me in your image and brought me here for such a time as this. You love me and desire for me to live in unity with all my fellow believers whether they are balck, brown, yellow, or white. I want to thank you for Martin Luther King, Jr. Who surrendered his life for the sake of the oppressed. His blood still cries from the grave for the unity of all men. I confess that I have not truly loved you with all my heart, soul and mind, like I want to, and I have not loved my neighbors as Christ has loved me. I have all too often lived by my own selfish impulses rather than by the sacrificial love revealed by Christ. Too often I give in order to receive and I say I forgive but I never forget. Lead me into the way of truth, and the unity of the spirit. Father God, I thank you for the lives of great saints and prophets in the past, who have revealed to us how to stand up amid the problems and difficulties and trials of life and taught us not to give in. Thank you for our forefathers, who've given us inspiration in the midst of the darkness and encourage us to keep going. Teach me to continue pursuing you with my whole heart and be determined to make a creative difference in this world. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
