## Written prayer

Heavenly Father, you have a divine destiny for each one of your children. John was an extraordinary man, miraculously born of a barren woman in her old age. Mary, pregnant with Jesus at the time, came to stay with her. When the two pregnant women met it is said that John leaped for joy in his mother’s womb. Even then John was the forerunner of Christ. He grew to preach repentance and be baptized in preparation for the coming of the messiah. Father, I get excited at the thought of one day meeting you face to face. During Christmas I worship the baby, Jesus, born to save the world. I honor the gift given by the kindness of my sovereign Lord. Let me always remember that child grew to be a man and carried the weight of the world to the cross and laid down his life so I would not have to suffer eternal separation from the presence of God. Help me have the boldness of John and recognize that I am sent wherever I go to declare your love and truth to those who don’t know you. Let your light, love, and truth shine through me in an extra special way this Christmas season. In Jesus name, amen.
